Taisei's author getting a new editor already?

I know of Monji, and it looks like Isaka was on WNL before this.

Edit: and speaking of Taisei, interesting chapter this week.

Curious to see if we get more and more stuff like:

I'm now curious if any other new Jump+ title will achieve what SpyxFamily has achieved in these last 2 months. We need more Jump+ bombs happening.

I hope these 4 new titles get uploaded in Mangaplus. Seems we are getting 3 romcoms and a possible slice of life (the 3rd title).
Hot take: SpyxFamily would've reached TPN-levels of fame (or above but below MHA), if it was seriealized in the main magazine. By year 3, it would be a "new face of Jump" right alongside MHA.

For people who read Yui Kamio author's previous works, did they also randomly swap out plots and genres like this? The previous chapter left off on a pretty suspenseful point, and then the start of this chapter felt like it didn't really quite line up. I'm pretty confused with what's going on in this and Double Taisei.

My Jump opinions for this week:
-Jujutsu Kaisen new arc looks pretty interesting. We are going to the past, and dunno what relevance to the present will have this new arc, but Gotou and Gerou being the MCs in this new arc sounds awesome.
-Hinomaru is going to be so fire next weeks. Also, lol at the cameo of this week chapter.
-Kamio Yui has completely changed its genre.
-Last Saiyuki seems is starting a new arc.
-From the newest batch, without counting Samurai 8 (since is famous while the other 3 are unrecognized), the best chapter for this week has been for me Beast Children. Still going safe but it has been an enjoyable chapter. Tokyo Shinobi Squad however has had its weakest chapter for me so far. Futari no Taisei...why do shogi titles tend to fail in Jump? :emobirb

"Shogi" titles seem to fail since the recent ones seem to basically be shogi in name only. Double Taisei's biggest focus on shogi has basically been that our MC(s) are good at it, have some sort of love/hate relationship with it, and everyone who's good at it seem to be quirky to put it nicely. The actual matches seem to either get skipped due to flashbacks or flash forwards.

Beast Children keeps doing the simple thing but doing it well. It has been a decently enjoyable read thus far, I hope it manages to survive.

Saiyuki starting a new arc maybe means that it won't be cancelled so soon? I hope? Nice chapter as well.

Taisei keeps the trend of having... interesting ideas and decent chapters by itself but being a complete mess structurally. I still have no idea what to expect.

I said it once and I'll say it again, Yui Kamio is basically what Nanamine tried doing in Bakuman, turned into an actual manga.

Considering the creator didn't even hire a consultant until Chapter 3, I think that's not surprising.

I haven't gotten around to reading/watching Bakuman yet, so that reference went a bit over my head the first time I saw you mention that. Seeing all of these series that don't really have a clear plot direction makes me miss simple, straightforward series. I know I'm probably the only person who'll ever say this, but I actually kind of miss Invade You. It was very simple and its artwork was definitely on the weaker side, but each chapter was cute and I'm wondering if their art could've improved like it did in Act-Age.

I think it's simpler than that, I think jump readers in Japan do not have patience with shogi manga or board games (except for Hikaru no go).
Unlike shonen magazine he has a shogi manga that is doing well.

Out of curiosity, what is your opinion of Saint Seiya?

Here the anime was HUGE in 90s, and then the Hades OVAs made Saint Seiya popularity to survive pretty well until 2005, then more anime reboots, etc.

When I see the manga has sold in Japan just 25 million copies (or 35), it bugs me because that's a pretty low sales number for a super-hit (titles like NuBe or Hoshin Engi are in that number). And still, Shueisha always treats Saint Seiya as one of its Jump biggest succeses ever.

Also, reminder 12 Houses Arc was pure kino.

Invade You basically has that failing that modern audiences aren't interested in episodic gag manga.

Hikaru no Go had the advantage of being "fresh", there hadn't been a board game manga in Jump before to my knowledge, and it was also about a game which wasn't as widely played as Shogi. Nowadays, everyone compares series to Hikaru no Go or 3Gatsu, and that's far from an easy mountain to climb.

I know it's basically the face of anime and manga for Latin America, but that's about it.

best blue and gross manager also had this novelty thing (One swimming and the other lacross) when they made their debut on the jump, and even then they were canceled, even with a gross manager having lasted more.

There's a good decade of difference to consider there. Also, Go is considerably more "different" compared to swimming or lacross by virtue of not being a physical sport.

Update on the voting chart. Saiyuki and Yui are surprisingly at the top of the pack, while TSS seems to have firmly lost interest. Expect an axing for it in the near future.

FTFY

Jokes aside (but go read Jigokuraku), people need to relax with how crazy they're going over SxF. The volume isnt even out and for all you know it could do poorly in sales.

It'll most likely sell, but not as amazing as many likely expect. Even a series with hype right out of the gate like TPN only sold 49K on Vol 1.

Looks like we got another Donald Trump cameo this week.

I read the manga a while back, and to be honest it didn't really stick with me, everything seemed so melodramatic and I had a hard time getting invested with the characters or story. I can see how it was a huge influence on battle shonen going forward, but I don't think it aged well.
