Is that so? ToC and sales would suggest it, but the plot made no motions to end within the next weeks. Last chapter looked like it's just about to start a new arc.
Heck, in the off-chance of the ToC reaching chapter 14~I could even see a small chance of it recovering. Though that would be a miracle.
i'm just guessing based on recent axing
higuma and ne0 axed at 19 chapters
alice and tanaka axed at 20 chapters

i wouldn't give starting new arc much thought, these days it's almost the trend to start a new arc on your last chapters

Estelle is 2019 shark waifu

Let's not forget how ne0;lation ended. Probably one of the most abrupt endings I have ever seen, and only because Higuma still has its epilogue coming this month.

So you assume Double Taisei and Beast Children will be axed very fast to open up more new spaces with the already leaving series?
while punishing mediocrity makes me happy
this sound like it's done for convenience sake
It's more like they won't want the magazine to have too small or just oneshots to filler. Then, they probably need to save the higher in the bottom of the TOC for a time.

At least, they need a good manga that can replace it.

Interesting that Horikoshi is saying the new MHA movie will be the final movie. And that it’ll contain elements from how he planned on ending the series

Was Estelle actually that popular? Honestly, the large shift in focus to her character actually made me lose a bit of interest in what was happening. It's not even that I disliked her, but it just felt like it was too much about her and not enough of that bro/sis bonding I was enjoying

if it makes them a lot of money they're gonna make another one whether he likes it or not

i dunno how popular she is
i'm saying even if people like her its too late to do anything for the series now

Ah, alright then. I still can't help but laugh about how bitter Ziga's author was in that series epilogue lol. Dude should look into making a monster girl series if he wants to find some success, maybe not in Jump, but somewhere

Hard to say for the relevant target audience, it's not like we'll be getting a popularity poll, haha...ha...
I can just speak for myself and basically every discussion I've seen online (Discord, reddit, this forum...) and the general consensus seems to be "The series started strong, lost steam quickly and picked itself back up again with the arc focussed on Estelle.". And, let's be real, a badass cute girl in a magical girl cosplay tends to win more hearts than "generic shonen plucky boi" (with older audiences at least).
Also, her dramatic arc was just pretty well done overall, especially compared to what came before it.

But as Mammo said, it might be way too late. The early involvement of the big bad should've just been cut and saved for later. That gave me hard "Oh, we expect to be cancelled."-vibes at ch4 only to follow it up with a really strong arc at ch12.

it's good that they gave Chainsaw a chance in the end, but being on the fence about a series because it isn't Jump-ish while shoving GIGA flops here and there isn't really making me hopeful

my point in mentioning those 4, is to say you don't need to hand hold new series, they can break out by themselves
even ones with slower start than instant hits survived the magazine until their anime popularity arrived

and about the campaigns, it's the same argument as Coach vs General Manager from sports discussions, when a team is doing badly who's to blame?
the coach or the guy that put the coach in this position?

are those rookie editors to blame or who put them in that position? I would argue their superiors are

Kamio & Saiyuki have been struggling magazines wise since ch 9
but they kept them in the magazine for 10 more weeks (about 3 months)
why? the the hope volume sales would be great enough to save them?
now, that volumes are out and flopping what did they gain?
a good old 12 ch axe could have cut their losses :eyeroll
That smiley at end cracked me up lol.

But such an waste, i see nothing wrong with saiyuki, besides the pacing & maybe the characters being too young?

The thing is what you hear in websites (even japanese websites) will not necessarily reflect the real popularity of the character.

For example: I remember that Tsuyu (MHA) had many fans in some websites, but she is not a really popular character in the polls.

Not only that but the batch were higuma and ne0 were was so cramped up, they had to be impactful right on the bat. Now how much free space there is in wsj, espcially having boruto and food wars gone. There is no haste

Of course, that's what I meant with "Hard to say for the relevant target audience,".
I'd still expect her arc to have a more positive response, not just because of her but also because there is just more dramatic & emotional stuff happening.

Also, I don't think the Tsuyu comparison works. She was a popular character in memes and ****** but not really more popular online than the typical contenders in the polls.
Let's not forget that characters like Kirishima, Kaminari and Shinso have the backing of the mighty fujoshi. ;O

I do wish Jump would use more adult MC's. Especially since, you know, that's their biggest reader demographic.
It will depend if the adult audience of WSJ wants this. They being adults doesn't mean they are interested in an adult MC.

I mean many Seinen use young adult (or characters that look like young adults) as main characters.

People don't always know what they want. I do like that teenager and child MCs can eventually grow up after timeskips and the like, admittedly. I am a fan of character design changes throughout a series lifespan.
