They are relèvent as he is multi-continent from lifting an ocean, FT magic can have scientific achievements and more with proof throughout the manga, that is how it works, I already told you, transmutation and genetic modification.

Edit:KT, Are you going to post or not?

Too bad he did building level damage.
Again you are just claiming some transmutation and genetic stuff when you haven't proven how a beam can turn some one into a mouse. This hasn't even achieved yet.

Too bad he did Multi-Continent level attack, because that is the magic bit to achieve the science bit like that to make it possible without wasting time in labs, trials and errors

Too bad it only did building level damage. No continents were blown so irrelevant.
You can take your time and turn a dog in to a human using your all you science knowledge.

Igneel is not fighting a 100% Merc. He got his butt beat twice by Acno and Zeref already said Acno was never challenged by him and was playing around the entire time so you can't scale Igneel to Acno. DGs are as powerful as an 100% Base Acno and Natsu nor Team Natsu have not deny that statement despite meeting two DGs already.

Igneel can beat a 50% mindless Merc tho.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Saying Merc is only building level in damage is hilariously dumb. There is a thing called attack potency for a reason bcs big level nukes aren't always going to be shot off and desteoy countries. The fact Merc lifted a sea that is size of multiple continents makes him at least multi-continental. Saying he's only building is gross downplay. That's like saying Goku is only building bcs he's never destroyed a planet and his kamehamehas only do minimal damage at times.

The fact that Igneel was able to bloody Acnologia up more than anyone we've ever seen and lost an arm proves that Igneel gave Acnologia a challenging fight. Zeref was trash talking. Zeref thought that he was going to beat Acnologia after receiving Fairy Heart. In reality, he couldn't even beat Natsu. Couldn't even permanently take Natsu's arm. Team Natsu cannot accurately read the power levels of the god dragons. They could not figure out that Mercphobia was only at half power despite the fact that Ignia was right beside them. Ignia would have actually been on Acnologia's level, and would have had close to twice as much power as Mercphobia. Went right over the team's heads. Why? I imagine it being for the same reason an ant won't be able to accurately know the difference in strength between an Olympic bodybuilder and the average joe.

But so long as we agree that Igneel beats Mercphobia within the rules of this thread, I'm willing to digress.

The amount of water he lifted was never anywhere close to the size of multiple continents. Mercphobia actually dropped all the water down on Elmina to put out Ignia's flames, and that didn't even manage to flood the entire city. Mercphobia's individual water pillars could only destroy buildings, and they also hit pretty much everyone on team Natsu. Are you saying everyone on team Natsu has multicontinental durability? What about when Mercphobia actually roared at Natsu? Are we to believe this attack that overwhelmed an FDK roar is somehow less powerful than an individual water pillar? Does this make Natsu multicontinental in durability? This is silly. Like what part of these exchanges implies multi-continental?

I agree that saying Mercphobia only being building level is a downplay, but saying Mercphobia is multi-continental is an even larger overplay. Mercphobia is city level. He spammed water pillars over the area of a city, and his ocean when dropped back down flooded portions of a city. If Mercphobia lifted multiple continents worth of water, he would have caused the planet to damn near split when he dropped it on Elmina.

It actually was multiple continents in size. Elimina is a port city which means it resides right by the sea/ocean.
They then say he picked up a the sea/ocean. He was also stated to effect the tides and was going to submerge Guiltena while holding back his own powers lol.

That's due to Ignia's flames vaping the water. The flames even after getting a sea tossed on it didn't douse the flames out.

They actually never directly hit anyone on Team Natsu. Plus they were scrub shots lol.

When did I say the individual pillars were stronger than his roar? It's like saying Acno's scrub shots he used against the boats are as powerful as his roar lol.

If you pick up something the size of a continent then that means you're continental. It doesn't matter if you punch and only destroy a building. Superman most of the times only destroy buildings but this guy has taken planetary level hits and dished the same out to a guy who destroys planets. Just bcs attacks are relatively small doesn't make the attacks any less than what the user is unless they are deliberately holding back.

Being building level or continental level is largely irrelevant anyway, the scale of a characters attacks don't mean anything in an actual fight. The attacks that beat FH Zeref and Time/Space Acnologia aren't even the size of Minerva's nuke. So yeah, Merc being able to lift the sea is meaningless, even if we generously assume that he lifted more of the sea than we actually saw. Saying it's building level or continental level isn't downplay or uplay, because either way it doesn't matter. A pointblank roar from Merc barely phased Natsu, dude literally shrugged it off, Merc's attack potency isn't anywhere close to Igneel's who could wound Acno and tear off his arm.

Igneel's flames didn't destroy the entire city of Elmina either. How did it manage to vaporize multiple continent's worth of water? If you're saying Ignia's flames was also multi-continental, then you are saying that Elmina essentially survived 2 multi-continental attacks.

Superman can actually lift and move planets in the comics. Mercphobia never lifted multiple continents worth of water. He lifted some amount of water over the city of Elmina, and then dropped it all down on Elmina. If he lifted multiple continents worth of water he would have flooded, you know, multiple continents. And the sheer mass from the impact would cause shifts in the tectonic plates and probably cause global extinction. If someone lifted the pacific ocean over the United States, and dropped it all down at once, what do you think would happen? Well it didn't happen here. Also, if you're saying Ignia vaporized multiple continents worth of water....then Ignia just ruined the world's water cycle. Again, what do you think would happen if we vaporized the pacific ocean?

KT, too back it was multi-continent Level, it simply scales to said feat since it came from the same feat in the first place, with magic you can do it instantly if you want, that is the point

And it is an ocean he lifted as there is no body of water that deep where light cannot pass through and when he dropped it, most of it was already vaporized by the heat which makes sense as they are still alive.

And the only reason Igneel could put if a fight is with PoF on his side

And even in the manga that he lifted an ocean as people have said, yes it was, you could not even see Ignia inside the water even with a flaming tail which would have produced some light but didn’t.

He did. They literally say he does and then show the sea gone and up in the air. Pointing to a map? Merc's sea lift runs off screen so how can you see that far away? You think Natsu who vaped Lake Sciliora would be phased if only a coty worth of water was lifted in the air when he already vaped an island size worth of water?

Ignia's flames were only meant to vape the water so unless you think Ignia's flames are less than Natsu's pre-ts flames then it can easily be explained that he only wanted to burn water and we've already seen elementals have master control over their element.

If Ignia wanted to wipe Elimina off the map, he could have as he's already stated to vape countries (FT countries are usually continental in size) off the map and that it was a miracle that Elimina survived when he came.

Merc did as he lifted a sea/ocean and I already showed you the size of water that is held within that sea and ocean. The amount of water was never showed to be covering the city only. That's only if he expanded the water to those areas. He only wanted to take out the fire that was in Elmina and then we see the water get vaped as it tries to douse out the water.

It's placed filled with magic lol. I doubt the ecosystem is ever brought up when those feats happen. Plus the FT Earth is way bigger than our own so we can just assume the water filled back in place. I mean Merc already f-ed the ecosystem when he effected the tides to the point it was going to submerge a continent.

There's also the fact a continetal level bomb (Etherion) didn't completely f over the Ishgar ecosystem either.

I just double checked, and they don't even say Mercphobia lifted an ocean. They said he lifted a sea, which is much smaller than an ocean. For example, the East China Sea is the Atlantic Ocean, and doesn't cover anywhere near the entire span of the Atlantic. Mercphobia probably just lifted some of the water near the coast of Elimina, not all the water in the ocean between Giltena, Ishgar, and Alaktasia. Also, Natsu thought he was going to kill Mercphobia with his secret art and that was after he saw Mercphobia lift the ocean.

Ignia's flames were never meant to vaporize the water. He wasn't attacking Mercphobia. In fact, he made a strict point that he wasn't going to personally fight Mercphobia. Ignia just wanted Natsu to eat those flames. Ignia just used an attack on the city to make some flames, and probably even held back on the attack because we know at full power Ignia can destroy a country. Mercphobia then tried to put out the flames by dropping the sea on it. So Ignia's attack didn't destroy Elmina, and Mercphobia's attack also didn't destroy Elmina. How can both be multi-continental? These are very both clearly city level feats.

You can't lift and drop a continent's worth of water, or vaporize a continent's worth of water, without effecting the ecosystem. Continental level feats should involve mass changes to...well, a continent. If it's contained within a city, well then it's simply not continental. Etherion would mess up the ecosystem if Tower of Heaven didn't absorb it. Remember Hiro Mashima's previous work, rave master? When Etherion went out of control there, it blew up 1/7th of the landmass in that world. In Fairy Tail, it's dailed back, but it still said to be capable of destroying one of the countries in Ishgal.

But again, how much water Mercphobia lifted isn't important. Natsu was actually swimming through the water in the sky. The water itself doesn't do any damage. It's only dangerous when Mercphobia uses a whirlpool to suck you in and drown you. We have feats of Ignia swimming right through Mercphobia's whirlpool. Igneel has enough physical strength to brawl with Acnologia for 20 minutes. They were both cut up and bloodied after that fight. Igneel should be able to give Ignia the same trouble if the two ever brawled, so that's more than enough physical prowess to swim through Mercphobia's whirlpool. As far as Mercphobia's other attacks goes, the water pillars and his roar would all be fairly easy to tank. If you accept Mirajane's filler feats as canon, which I believe you do, then Igneel has feats of his punches matching Acnologia's roars. That's more than enough to suggest he can tank Mercphobia's attacks.

Yes he can as you be surprised as to how many kg of water are in an ocean of a planet larger than earth. Lifting an ocean like that does not have to be the same shape as it was on land, that would put it into one spot in the sky. That makes sense since it is fluid and not solid.

Yet we do not know how Etherion in Rave operates which is much more smaller in feats. And FT is actually as strong if not stronger than Rave at the end.

It doesn't matter if Earthland is bigger than earth when Mercphobia's actual attacks don't even destroy the city of Elmina. Mercphobia's attacks don't scale to the whole ocean. Nobody even said that Mercphobia lifted an ocean. They said Mercphobia lifted a sea, and when Mercphobia dropped that sea on Elmina it didn't do anything that even resembles a multi-continental attack. It doesn't have to have the same shape, but it has to have equal mass.

Too bad it did building level damage. Come Back and wank when a FT member gets legit multi-continental feat on their own verse.

That's like saying Goku is only building bcs he's never destroyed a planet and his kamehamehas only do minimal damage at times.
Goku has legit feat of destroying a planet in his own verse. Where no one in FT has legit feat of destroying a multi-continent on their own verse. Don't use Goku as couter argument nor Superman.

I think @Jean Greyhas good knowledge in DBZ. Haven't goku destroyed planet with this kamehamehas?

No, he hasn't. I literally watched Z four times and Super twice. Cell has never destroyed a planet either, guess he ain't planetary bcs he hasn't destroyed one. Superman has never punched out a planet yet can lift the weight of one so again I guess he isn't planetary bcs he hasn't destroyed one. Both are valid counters.

Acnologia got hit with three different timelines and came out with a buff. Etherion, a continetal weapon, is a joke to him. Add an infinite amount of Etherion and it would still be a joke lol.

He wouldn't split into two by eating there is a limit to the amount he can eat. Etherion is a country level attack anything other than that is something you came up with. Etherion is featless again just like jellal's abyss break.

You can't lift and drop a continent's worth of water, or vaporize a continent's worth of water, without effecting the ecosystem. Continental level feats should involve mass changes to...well, a continent. If it's contained within a city, well then it's simply not continental. MS translation say it's an ocean. Sea can still be the size of multiple countries in our world. The FT world is much bigger thus the size of things are grander. A sea would be much bigger than just a coast of water as well. If you want, you could just use the golf of mexico as a reference.

Compare that to the body of water next Guiltena and you could still get a multi continental result.

Ignia was literally showing off to Natsu that there are flames that can burn through water magic lol. The whole point of it was to show Natsu how to beat Merc so he can level up and get stronger. Merc tried to put out the flames so it didn't harm himself, he wasn't trying to protect the city.

Continental level feats would do much more damage to the earth than just the continent. The ecosystem all around should be completely f-ed by them but most aren't due to it being fiction and thus the writer doesn't usually care for the fall out of such devastating attacks. Etherion was actually shot off a year prior to FT and such blast didn't effect Ishgar's ecosystem despite it wiping an entire country the size of a continent off the map. RM's Etherion destroyed 1/7th of the world yet the fall out was never discussed or presented to cause harm to the Earth despite the Earth losing 1/7th of it's weight lol. Destroying 1/7th of the planet should cause massive amounts of damage to environment yet it was brushed under the rug.

Why would the water do damage when it's stationary? Unless that sucker is getting dropped then yeah flipping an ocean is useless but it is still a display of your power level. Being able to levitate such weight would take high energy levels to do and that would be translated into AP. Except Igneel was only fighting an Acno who gave zero sh!ts and wasn't actually challenged by Igneel. Acnologia already beat Igneel at his prime and toyed with half dead Igneel. If Acno took it serious Igneel would have been toasted. I only accept the 3rd installement of the anime as canon bcs Hiro tweeted about having a hand with the production and supposedly adding some new elements to the anime. CSK got a bonkers buff with his Meteor Blade and Galaxia Blade lol.

I never said Igneel couldn't take hits from Merc, and stated he could beat 50% mindless Merc, but he is getting beat by 100% Merc. 100% Merc = 100% Base Acnologia > 100% Igneel.

Yes, but he ate a time paradox that contained discrepancies of three alt timelines before he actually got actually got effected by his limit. Etherion is continental since the size of a country in FT is the size of a continent. We know that due to Hargeon being 370km away from Fiore and having a map to scale from. Eitherion is not featless as it was proven to wipe a country off the map a year prior to the start of the series.
