Hello everyone. I have lurked in this thread for some time but just registered an account. Really enjoying reading your discussions.
Now that he's famous, the Edited Manga sites remembered Kimetsu eh?
Yup, amazing, huh? Now they even release it on the same day of the others, unlike before mangaplus where they released it on the same day of Yuna. Those are the cases where I really like to ignore those releases, not only because there's already one free but because of how they treated the series before.
I'm afraid that you two are hugely mistaken regarding Kimetsu Edited Manga. First of all, the early releases you see in the last 2 weeks have nothing to do with the usual group who have been translating the manga since forever. The differences in translation and image quality are really obvious in my opinion.
Secondly, Kimetsu chapters are released later not because the translator ignores or mistreats the series. It's the complete opposite. Almost every other established Jump title are fan translated using leaked, low quality physical scans, but the group translating Kimetsu opt to use Japanese digital public raw, which has even higher image quality than MangaPlus version due to no image compression (same as Yuuna btw). They also take on extra work to typeset the official colored version and release it along with the B&W version every week without fail.
This group of anonymous individuals have been translating the manga non-stop for 3 years, long before Viz picked it up for simulpub and when the fanbase was still very small. You can say they're hugely responsible for Kimesu's popularity among English readers before the anime (even now, Viz still leaves a huge chunk of the manga untranslated). They wouldn't change their way just to cash in on the anime's success. These people translate Kimetsu not for either profit or attention, but out of genuine affection for the manga, so it pains me to see how people are not giving them due credit, and confusing their high quality releases with the unrelated speed scan.
