I ask you, why are you acting like HQ has "declined", when any sales drop is due to digital and, despite having no anime for a few years now, it's still been neck to neck with MHA for the most popular modern title? (OP is discounted for obvious reasons)

Also, profitability is a major motivator for canceling series, not raw sales. Toriko was a series Shueisha tried to basically bury after the anime/movie/other stuff all bombed. It being rushed is systemic of its inability to maintain a merit to Jump's business as an IP, plain and simple. Black Clover meanwhile has an anime which continues to do decently well, a decent amount of merch and is treated as something of a "No 2" to MHA in Jump's roster. There is no reason currently to cancel it.
Talking about digital sales is like beating a dead horse at this point (poor horse). We have no data to prove WSJ series are posting good number digitally. HQ suffered declines in sales similar to what Toriko/Bleach did. Its a pattern and patterns don't lie.
Why we can't talk about digital sales? Because it's unreliable. The overall digital sales in the industry is more than 50%. That is the industry average meaning digital has overtaken print. But Shueisha chief has stated twice, in two separate years, that 30% Shueisha manga that are sold are digital. That's below the market average. WSJ alone can be well below that number.
Also, people who've been buying physical volumes of HQ or an older series won't just stop and go digital.

Someone brought up the music industry being digitalized as a reference. Do you know how long it took for that transition to happen? Digital forms of music started in mid 00s. It only just got traction in the last 5 years with YouTube and Spotify being added into the picture. But even in the music industry, older artists typically sell more physical copies of their music than digital. If you wanna track sales every week for music (for US), go to "hits daily double". Keep an eye on the physical and digital sales of an artists from the older generations when they release a new album (take metal, rock artists, if you want a genre), you'll almost see physical vastly outsell digital.
Manga industry is not even close to being digitalized fully yet. Manga plus is a great start but there's so much more to do before you can compare digitalisation of these industries.

If profitability is a major factor, then Toriko should have stayed. It sold a butt load of merchandise. It was marketed as the third biggest series with OP and Naruto. Bleach was pushed 4th despite having a vastly superior media franchise. But at the sign of weakening, WSJ had no issues with rushing it to end. It's what they do especially when the Anime had ended.
Why are people acting as tho BC is in a safe bubble with its average sales? Series with far higher sales have been rushed to end. WSJ have Jujutsu, Chainsaw Man and maybe S8 to lean back on. Jujutsu already seems to be a bigger success than BC pre-anime.
Its a VERY competitive time in WSJ. Toriko was canned at a time which was far less competitive.

But Jujutsu and S8 are bottomdwellers in the ranking (not absolute bottom, but lower half at least). Do you really believe they would cut Black Clover (which is usually in the upper half, if not top 5) for those?

Toriko's sales went down, in 2013 it went on to be in the Top 20 (or 15, I don't remember) after a great promotion of Shueisha (it was always put next to Luffy) to 2014, the year in which the anime ended , to be out of the top 30 of the most sold (in which instead there were present series that did not have the same investment and promotion that it had) and then to progressively decrease in the following years, without receiving new proposals of anime or other, obviously it was closed and obvious also fell in the TOC at that point, no more anime equal to have sales in negative trend.

Some TOCs in Jujutsu are low, but this year it has been quite high in several TOCs, and in terms of sales it is one of the most promising new series.

Samurai for now has no high TOCs, but the first volumes have yet to come out, if they make good sales I think they will get up for sure.

That BC has had some high TOCs means little, with the anime in the highlight it seems normal, for the Jump count paper sales.

People trust the authors' words too simply ...
Whenever a author says something about the end of his/her series you never should believe, period. hahahaha
Most of the authors don't know what they are doing. I think it is not Oda case, he knows what he is doing and probably exactly how much time he will need, but he will never say the truth or he is saying the truth, but people will never believe given authors' reputation on this regard. :XD

Also, I read Samurai 8 today and... I don't know, I think it is time talk about the elephant in the room, if you haven't yet. Who thinks Samurai 8 is above average (I don't think so)? It is near or in the bottom very frequently and I think it totally deserves it. Will it receive special treatment about cancelation despite that?

Samurai 8 will not be canceled in the short term. They have already sold the series to half the world, in October they will release the first two volumes simultaneously. And surely considering the author's name will have a pretty good debut.

At most depending on the sales, it will be decided whether it will be a short or short series, which both Kishimoto seems ready for both eventualities.

Hmm. Maybe have to make one. If there was an old one, it should show up, unless it was deleted (which seems unlikely).
Yeah, there has been an old one with plenty of comments and views and still monthly talks. I wondered why it was deleted. Maybe I gotta do a thread once I got the time for it or let another WT fan handle that if it is impossible to revive deleted threads.

Just gotta say you guys made me curious about Blue Flag in some previous comments. I've just read all of its chapters (in a single day) and it's now my favourite Jump + manga. IT'S SO FREAKING GOOD.

They were posted a few pages before, I think. Unless you mean the dailies for the new volumes? If so, I think they should appear tomorrow.

We will see the sales, is not the first time a series resurrect because first volume sales (medaka).
Some users still are in damage control because the rankings and Yui Kamui is having better one, tho.

PD: Long time no see, Leoat!

All they need to do is put 'by the creator of Naruto!' on the first 2 volumes of Samurai 8 and it'll sell at least decently regardless of quality or rankings. Remember RxL went to perma-bottom 3 pretty much right after the intro stuff but lasted past ch 60 since it sold well.

Consider that Kishi estimated it at 10 volumes, if it sticks to that and can sell at least what RxL did I think WSJ will just give it a full run either way. 100 or so chapters is pretty reasonable for a 60k+ selling series these days even with bad rankings, and unless they get a sudden explosion of big new hits it'll probably consistently get above 3-4 flops (and series in that situation tend to last a while even with bad sales).
