But I'm actually surprised that I enjoyed the original DB period that much. Even more than the "Z" one. Does anyone agree with me?
Yeah, I think many agree with you. I've often seen Z anime only viewers who check out the beginning of the manga or the original DB anime like the earlier parts much more than they expected.

I don't know if I'm allowed to comment old Jump series here, but I'm currently reading Dragon Ball. All I knew about the manga was from the few DBZ episodes I watched it as a kid, but I wasn't crazy on them or anything (from the popular battle-shonen in Brazil at the time, I was more interested in Saint Seiya) and as I aged I started to have some kind of misguided vision of the series, thinking it was just a over-the-top battle manga and skipped watching/reading it.
Then I started it last week and.... oh boy, I really liked it. REALLY.
But I'm actually surprised that I enjoyed the original DB period that much. Even more than the "Z" one. Does anyone agree with me? At least from what I see, most people enjoy Dragon Ball more after the Saiyans are introduced.
King Piccollo/Piccollo Jr. is my favorite arc of the series, The first search for the Dragon Balls is so much fun and all Tenkaichi Budokai are super fun. The only thing I didn't really love was Red Ribbon, I thought it was kinda stale in some parts and I wished we got a little bit more Launch.
I'm with you brother, early dragon ball is so much better than post time skip db
I loved the the light hearted atmosphere, the comedy, the sense of innocence and love for exploration young Goku had, solving problem using your brain instead of force, the early cast Kinto un, Roshi, Krillin, Yamacha, Bluma, Puar, Oolong, Pilaf gang, Chiaotzu and Tien, those weird gimmicky fighters in the tournaments

it's all great

Totally agree with all of you.

Which makes me even more suprised of why and who is Dragon Ball Z literally the most popular shonen ever, being literally saiyans hairs and powerlevels. I'll guess a lot of them don't know about Dragon Ball OG.

I don't like Dragon Ball Super, but one panel of the manga is my favorite Dragon Ball panel ever, which is a literal analogy about what were Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z:

Give us the damn 3 part GIGA epilogue that Soma shouldn't had!
Don't say that, these epilogue chapters were better than most of the series ending, which was very average to say the least.

I prefer early DB, too, and the pace changed a lot between DB and DBZ.

Each chapter of early DB had so much content. In DBZ (more precisely in Piccolo arc) things changed: The panels started getting bigger and almost nothing happened in each chapter alone. Each fight took a lot of chapters and you could read each chapter in 2 minutes. The same happened to Bleach decades later haha

Sorry but no, I stand for what I said, whether the epilogue as a whole was good, bad, or average it barely did Soma any favors. Sumo deserved the GIGA treatment over Soma any day of the week

Technically, Piccolo arc is still Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball Z started with Raditz.

Of course, in manga, all the story is just Dragon Ball.

In my case, I think I enjoyed more early Dragon Ball too. Although I have enjoyed all Dragon Ball, even if I'm not a big fan.

Yeah, it's just that Piccolo's arc is more technically aligned with DBZ's narrative than DB's, even though is officially considered to be part of DB.

I know it's not very reliable, but on Amazon Japan Beast Children is on top of Kamio in the classic bestseller:

BC 3800 and something
Kamio around 4000
Taisei around 5100
TSS about 5400

Shonen Jump+ x MARVEL One-Shots Collaboration.

1. SECRETVERSE by Takahashi Kazuki (Yu-Gi-Oh!).
2. Kyaguriru by Mizuno Hachi (Akuten Wars).
3. Hero Interview by Ogino Ken (Lady Justice).
4. SAMURAI by Kasama Sanshirou & Uesugi Hikari (Tsugihagi Quest).
5. Halloween Avengers by matomato (Emperor to Issho).
6. Ant-Man+ by Haneda Toyotaka (Vocchi-men).

I missed this. As a big Marvel fan, I hope the one-shots are decent, but most probably they won't. Anytime Japan touches american superhero properties, it turns to shit (except the tokusatsu Spider-Man show. It gets a pass)

I'm actually fine with the direction DB took, as it would probably end within a year if it didn't switch its genre but the loss of most of the cast through time was really sad. I wish the original gang like Yamcha, Oolong and Puar had more importance in the second-half.

I’ve been meaning to ask this...

...but do you think Demon Slayer will follow in HeroAca’s steps and gain a foothold in the West? I’ve been seeing quite a bit of buzz about it here ever since Episode 19, and it hasn’t stopped. I expected to be one of the most popular anime in the seasons it ran in, but not this popular.

I’m happy for the series, having gone from being one of Shonen Jump’s most under-the-radar hits to potentially competing with the big boys in TPN, Haikyuu, and HeroAca with no sign of slowing down. It’s amazing to see what a good adaptation will do for a series that always had potential.

Perhaps in the grand scheme of things, this isn’t much and eventually the hype will fade for a bit as Ufotable makes another season. But seriously, I’m starting to think Demon Slayer could be the biggest new thing since HeroAca.

Not sure about the others, but going off Hachi's instagram, he's a huge Marvel fan. So I expect to see his passion there at least.

Just for note, regarding the additional people who read Mitama, I hold my opinion on it. I can't really judge the series I think due to the fact that it's clearly meant for kids, but I do think that its premise is too fundamentally limited to work as an ongoing. It's really just kinda "there".

Big Nope. Boruto is still solidly above 100k and seems to have stabilized, while Yuuna can barely stay in the top 100 for three weeks and its 2-week sales keep getting worse each volume.

Prediction....
Yeah, but when you predict something you're basing it on facts.

Horikoshi is also a huge Marvel fan and Spider-Man Reign is one of his favorite comics. I wouldn't put my hope on that

Stop that, please. Being aimed at kids or not, it'll be judged by anybody who reads it.

I'm curious to see how big of a boost s4 and the movie end up giving MHA, I'd expect a significant one but AoT didn't get anything meaningful from its latest szn so we shall see
