Compare different number of volumes and expect to convince people that MHA surpassed One Piece in sales is at least naive. It would be just cheating.
My question was meant to be for total sales in 2020, obviously nobody is beating OP in per volume

and? casual people don't care about that. They only care about the total sales at the end. There are still people who question why One Piece 2010/2011 had 37 million sales and suddenly the next year i dropped to 22 million sales.

There WAS a narrative around last year when some people claim MHA could have beat OP total sales have it volume not being push back past november. Or the narrative of AoT only have 3 volumes released annually, there no way it will beat One PIece.

Both narrative only care about TOTAL sales, which is what SalesNerd was asking about.

The folks on ANN hate Jump series in general. Reading their reviews of Kimetsu is downright cringe inducing.
Those picks are from comic journalist or writers that get invited to the Comic-con, not from the ANN writers. It literally tells you that if you had click the link.

They done it all the years and, If I remember correctly, this year Mob was also pick as worst manga. Different folks, different tastes.

Does anyone still remember Sesuji wo Pin, that 2015 dancing manga? Is it worth it? Might pick it up after I finish to read all released Jujutsu Kaisen.
And talking about it, I'm trying to read it. It's ok, nothing particularly impressive for the first two volumes, but I enjoy the protagonist gimmick very much.
I remember it and its probably one of the comfiest reads in all Jump, the MCs are way too cute and the supporting characters are really great. I would have hoped that Yokota stayed on Jump to do another series after Shuudan but Im still happy to see him continuing doing manga.

Boku no Hero Academia also had many chapters with fewer pages than the standard, so it probably won't even have that many volumes release in 2020 to actually compete with One Piece, even if everything else goes extremely well.

But we are not casual fans and I will not pretend that I am one just to satisfy the narrative. Moreover, casual fans don't look for their favorite series total sales number in Japan to begin with.

possible, one piece will only have 3 volumes release next year. If MHA has the sales of season 2, then it is possible. Given that OP nowdays sell 2 million per volume, give or take 6 mil ~ 6.5 mil
OP gets a lot of backlog, more than 500k. I think last year it got around 800k or 900k worth of backlog.

Ha ha what? I know people have different tastes, but seriously?
Yeah, but to be fair: it was only the pick of a single person. This panel works in the way that Deb Aoki (manga editor and critic), Zac Bertschy (Anime News Network's editorial manager), Chris Butcher (comics writer and retailer) Megan Peters (comics journalist), and Rob McMonigal (comics site admin, review) each pick one manga for various categories.

Worst Manga for Anyone, Any Age

The Rising of the Shield Hero by Aiya Kyu and Aneko Yusagi, published by One Peace Books - Zac's pick
Shibuya Goldfish by Hiroumi Aoi, published by Yen Press - Deb's pick
Mob Psycho 100 by ONE, published by Dark Horse Comics - Rob's pick
The Seven Deadly Sins by Nakaba Suzuki, published by Kodansa Comics - Megan's pick
If It's for My Daughter, I'd Even Defeat a Demon Lord by CHIROLU and Hota., published by Seven Seas - Deb's bonus pick
In this case, Rob who picked didn't think it was bad, but rather that it was boring - and he was boo'd for that pick from the crowd.

Several Jump manga got a mention too at that panel: JoJo, Bleach and MHA each got picked in the "Best Continuing Series for Kids/Teens" category, Samurai 8 got picked in the "Best New Manga for Kids/Teens" category, and MHA: Vigilantes got picked in the "Underrated but Awesome Manga" category.

Rob McMonigal also chose Bleach for "Best Continuing Series for Kids/Teens" and Edens Zero for "Best New Manga for Kids/Teens" which, even perceived quality aside, are questionable picks with "Continuing..." for Bleach and "...for Kids/Teens" for the ecchi-smutfest that is a Hiro manga.

Though good on the pick of MHA: Viligantes... that series deserves way more attention!

Btw, what are the color pages this issue, aside from DrStone? The pinned post doesn't say.

are questionable picks with "Continuing..." for Bleach
Since the panel happened in mid 2019, as so often, the year judged was also 2018, and VIZ published the last Bleach volume in October 2018. Also, their 3-in-1 editions of Bleach were published until March 5th 2019, but judged was the final volume release.
Best Continuing Series for Kids/Teens - Rob says goodbye to an old favorite, Bleach by Tite Kubo. With vol. 74, this swords/fighting/supernatural action Shonen Jump series comes to an end with an epic battle.

- Goddamn do I enjoy Taisei's art. And wish he'd been doing stuff like this from the beginning.

- Still enjoying Yozakura.

- I'll probably wait on Mitama to see if it makes it or not before reading it.

Yozakura continues to do good. Three chapters in and we've progressed through the opening scenarios neatly. Fingers crossed this pays off.

Meanwhile, my worries about Mitama have already started to come to pass. Chapter 2 is basically half-identical to Chapter 1, same basic narrative, same basic gags.

Here's this new round for M+. For anyone interested, quick TL;DR: Everything survives until Issue 45 and expect a My Hero Academia break soon (Issue 43, 44 or 45).

Regarding OP, it will be 1003793-1003796, and for Yozakura and Mitama, it will be 4 chapters for each one in that 1003871-1003878 batch.
