Ahh Blue Flag! Such a well written manga. It really shows well how you can do a whole chapter (like the today's one on MangaPlus) with as little dialogue scenes as possible. Too bad the pacing is horrible for a monthly manga.

Counting every second for 3000+ years to know how much time passed is superhuman. In less than 1 year the numbers he'd have to remember would take longer to say than the second they are worth. 12.222.223 seconds, 12.222.224 seconds, 12.222.225 seconds etc.
He wasn't saying them out loud and he probably didn't repeat the entire number every time.

Even so, it is fairly unrealistic, but it's more an example of unrealistic persistence than unrealistic intelligence IMO.

Also good job forgetting that the demons use the distribution of cattle kids for their own economy so its not so much that they need it to sustain their being but also to turn a profit. The demons we've seen that are "good" generally don't see humans as anything but meat no difference with how humans see cattle and the only sympathetic demon shown in the story is Ashe's adoptive father who is just an obvious strawman so that's literally one example in 100+ chapters that demons can be good and it was used in a throwaway chapter the rest either don't care about how humans feel about being eaten or want to experience the thrill of the hunt again.
You are looking at this from a very Anthropocentric point of view (things are good/evil depending on how beneficial/harmful they are to humans). Emma is taking a Biocentric stance (all living things have the right to exist whether they are beneficial to humans or not).

So it's not a matter of intelligence, but of clashing ideological viewpoints.

Well, think what you want m8, but I am still convinced that M+ comments and overall reading audience aren't related at all.
I mean, they aren't well developed, it's more of "bruh it's bad" than anything else.
You know, they lack this kind of things which make you hear at someone speech and make you think "Yes, I understand and I agree/disagree".
Let's take an example you will surely understand : this conversation.
I think I didn't conveyed my way of reasoning clearly (mainly because I have troubles dealing with english and communication).
So now, you can disagree once again, but at least I think I have explained why I said that, for me, M+ comments are irrelevant.

But yeah, let's see it from another point of view : Spy X Family is not a WSJ series. It's released before, it stays alongside bottom 5 of WSJ and weekly releases like Summer Time Rendering.
It's a M+ manga.
People don't expect it to be the new One Piece or Dragon Ball (let's take my obviously exaggerated example, as you seemed to like them).

Take it easy, I understood your opinion, I even rethinked on mine, it's good. There will not be another response tho (mainly because writing a message here with a phone is a chore...)
Oh, I agree that most M+ comments are rather... basic, to put it friendly.

But that doesn't mean that M+ readers are only interested in classic adventure shonen and won't read anything else. If that was the case, Spy x Family wouldn't be second place in the ranking.

Also I don't think it makes a difference if SxF is a WSJ manga or not, since M+ doesn't make the distinction (you have to go to the "Featured" page to look up what magazine something is published in, because the series page doesn't say).

That's not how it works though. Jump always cancels the flops before starting a new batch. If 4 new series start then they would cancel Taisei, Beast and TSS beforehand. There is a limit to how many series can run simultaneously. They can't add 4 new series without cancelling a few
I know. I think Taisei and Beast will definitely be cancelled.

However, TSS would have an opportunity to last a little more if Yozakura or Mitama are worse in popularity. After all, there is a empty spot in the current magazine.

PS: It seems a 4 round isn't pretty likely. So, the possibilities of TSS will increase.

Kubo is a successful artist and was likely getting paid extremely well.

We’ve seen interviews of axed artist(or more accurately, successful artist who talk about their past axed series). Some of them mentioning working on their manga while also working a part time job.

The American comic industry is different. But I can’t imagine the average manga artist is making a huge living. I’d imagine they are likely making around the same as the American industry($20K per year) or less.
The mainstays in the magazine are likely making a living, and enough to work on manga full time.
But the question was, how do these axed series creator’s make a living on their low volume sales. And I’m saying, they probably aren’t making very much to begin with.
I actually meant in terms of working hours/conditions.
Should've clarified.

From my understanding Mangaka keep most rights to the series they make, outside of publishing contracts keeping them tied to a specific magazine, meaning the publishing company likely has to pay them a distribution fee for not only the weekly manga chapter (likely not a big sum of money) but also for the volumes upon initial release (this is likely rather large). Then you have to factor in what the mangaka likely makes per-page over the course of the week to pay for living/work expenses. How much the mangaka is paid likely is tired to how popular they are so it probably isn't to far fetched to say that less popular series don't generate alot of money for their mangaka.

Comic book artist have inkers, colorist and many other jobs. And they are as recognize as the artist. Marvel/DC/Indies have to pay like 10 guys instead only the Artist.

People don't understand that we want to see our lovely Yonagi in the cover as soon as possible. XD
The anniversary one was pretty lackluster because of her short hair. =/

The information I know about mangaka payments is from Bakuman so maybe inaccurate, but according to it they are paid by page drawn.
And of course, after they get famous there is the royalties thing, etc.
Agreed, I want one with her and Chiyoko.

Yes, mangaka have the copyright of their work. It's why Saint Seiya and Hokuto no Ken aren't on Shueisha anymore, for example, with their sequels and spin-offs.

Many Manga artist have assistants, and a lot of the jobs, such as inking, lettering, etc. is the same roles that manga assistants have. The only major difference in job roles is colorist. Idk what the average number of assistants an artist has, but I know there’s quite a few I’ve seen that have 5+ assistants.

And when I said “20K per yer”, typically the Inkers, Artist, colors, writer, etc. all receive around the same pay per comic(well idk about letterers

I've heard the mangakas paid their assistants (not the editorial). Is this true?

That would be pretty different from American comics, right?

The inker, lettering in manga is people who are learning(or are assistant for life) and are paid by the mangaka, in comic they are professional who do their works in the company in the same way as the artist.
Marvel have more hand to pay in a comic that shueshia with a new jump manga.

lk about cancellation, be more positive! I think cloudy environment all the time made me stay away from here more time. Only read the series without any worry in the world is so great. :)
I only hope that Yui Kamio and Yozakura survive, no talks about cancellation.
I was about to say something like that when Rain started the 1000th talk about when things will be cancelled, some people here are obsessed with cancellations and acting like they're Jump editors who have to think all the time about this like Jovan saying all the time that Jump should cancel everything and start 10 mangas at the same time, like, chill out a bit and read the mangas kkkk

It's not that, it's just that it's hard to get invested in something that might end soon and is also not that good, so people are already looking forward to the new series and hoping they will be more enjoyable.

Speaking of which, on M+ Mitama's first chapter had 10000 views and the second 5000 (which is abysmal for a new series). Is it doing better anywhere else? Or are there no other indications we can use yet?

How do you see the separate chapter views for MangaPlus?

He isn't. This is built purely on memory.
Indeed. The first chapter barely passed F-Ken, and the second one is still struggling to make it past Terra Formars.

Yozakura had 25000 views for the first chapter, so that one is going steady.

To be fair, the current batch is really bad. I don't think anyone here would be sad when Double Taisei and Beast Children are cancelled. At least Saiyuki had potential.
