Since we were talking about the controversial choice made in Fuuka, are there any series in WSJ or even in Shueisha where an author made a choice as controversial as this and was bashed online because of it? The only series I can think of is when Ishida decided to end Tokyo Ghoul out of the blue and for 1-2 weeks people didn't know the series would continue.
Wasn’t the ending to JoJo’s Part 6 pretty controversial.

People will eventually learn that we are talking about manga here and the opinions are not personal, or at least it shouldn't be, then we will have amicable discussions without putting the forum on fire. :)

That's the goal. I don't think we're quite there yet, though.

Guys, we're not going to turn this thread into a shipping war argument, lol.

Trust me, I'm doing you all a favor. Let's just change the subject.
Probably for the best, even in a civilized context, those can get real ugly real quick.

I just realized the latest Chainsaw Man chapter was a call back to Aki's introduction chapter, and that makes it all the better.

Couldn't resist.

I'm enjoying Mitama (more than Yozakura, I must say), but this photo montage is absolutely disturbing.

I don't know what it is about Mitama Security. It's hard to explain. I don't hate the series by any means. It might be the most perfectly neutral I've ever felt about a manga. If it ends after a volume, it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all, but if it ran for 10 years, I'd probably read every chapter.

On a deeper thought, I think Mitama takes the cake as being the worst new series of the year. Even accounting for its genre, it's quality is inexcusable IMO.
No offense, but don’t you hate Gag manga to begin with? Im not necessarily saying it a great series, but seems like you’re reading a series you knew you’d dislike before you even started reading it.

The manga is “meh” to “eh”, but don’t really see anything about that makes it outstandingly awful or anything.

It was more ballsy than bad. The ending was still great. If there was controversy with the Japanese community it's probably since they didnt know what direction the series will go from there than the ending itself. Part 6 ending, at least IMO, is the best ending from all the prior parts.

Yea I like the ending as well since you wouldn’t see it coming (not always a good thing) if it wasn’t the one thing most spoiled things. I was just wondering if there was a backlash since I’m not well versed in that.

Same but I think the part in general wasnt well received in Japan. I say this b/c iirc I saw a ranking list of the fav parts & the Japanese didnt rank it too well. I dont think it ranked as the worst tho, maybe someone can pull up that poll.

Edit: This wasnt the ranking list I was talking about but there was a jojosapiens event and here were the results
  1. Phantom Blood: 7.3%
  2. Battle Tendency: 11.2%
  3. Stardust Crusaders: 17.3%
  4. Diamond is Unbreakable: 17.5%
  5. Vento Aureo: 19.1%
  6. Stone Ocean: 8.5%
  7. Steel Ball Run: 12.1%
  8. JoJolion: 7.0%
VA > DU > SDC > SBR > BT > SO > PB > JJL

Sounds about right but I think SO's popularity will improve once its animated, even in Japan. Not by a lot but I think it could move up a rank or two. Its by far the most underrated part lol.

I have to say, it's a shame that Taisei is such an utterly incoherent mess, because there's a lot of moments of genuine brilliance sprinkled between the odd narrative choices and bizarre tonal shifts. Of the May batch, it's probably the one I'd label as least bad, at any rate.

Gonna go out of a limb and say Taisei-Beast-Shinobi will be collectively axed around October, with a three man batch replacing it. That would seem about right, at any rate. Then the next batch would be about January, replacing TPN and WNL.

Where does your dislike/hate for the comedy genre come from?

This is a comment which a lot of people have been misinterpreting, so I want to make it clear, that wasn't supposed to be me hating on gag manga, merely that I was actively considering the fact that it was a gag comic for kids with no story. Even then, I find it incredibly unfunny and too reliant on a very limited premise that its just been doing the same things with over and over.

I'm sad to see We Never Learn go, but yeah, it is definitely rushing towards the end now.
Rushing? Not really. It's about to end for quite some time. We already know that due to how the timeline was going in the manga, and the volume since 11 with Fumino and the same thing was repeated on future covers. The next one will be Rizu, then Uruka and then one with all of the characters.

Have to say, I wonder if Tsutsui will actually resolve the harem or no. Sure it would probably piss a lot of people off if he left it open-ended, but it's hardly like the story needs it resolved to conclude. This isn't like Nisekoi, where the whole thing is built on the romance.

I didn't mean that as in it's being rushed to the ending. I just meant that it's quickly approaching the end.

I read the first 10 chapters and thought was pretty nice, of course you can expect the romance and drama but it's basically the "Bakuman" of Shonen Magazine but focused a bit more on the editors side.
Hitman is great. Great detailing on the editor side. and there's no romance focus from now but what's there is nice. It's a shame that it isn't more translated.

I don't have any idea how the end will be to be honest. Can be one girl, all of them or none of them.

Look at how mature you are, reading a magazine targeting kids while berating manga made for its demographic.
And I don't see why gag comic need something like plot. All they ever need are characters and settings to execute jokes. Plot is just a bonus, not a necessity.
I would rather read a plotless manga rather than rush-out, shitty pacing story or whatever plot double tensei has.
