Natsu and Lucy went with Brandish and Mest to try to negotiate with August
Before negotiations was even a plan that Brandish offered to do they was going to fight him. Kind of speak for itself that Jacob really isn’t that strong in comparison to some of the other Spriggans imo.

They were prepared to fight August if negotiations fell apart. Jacob's attacks barely did any damage to them, and neither were running low on magic.

Natsu never thinks about negotiating

To be fair Jacob’s magic doesn’t seem it does much damage anyways

Which is my point. Jacob is only considered dangerous if he's sneaking around in stealth and using transport when you're not paying attention. If Jacob is just turning himself invisible and hitting you, he's not really all that stronger than Neinhart.

Yeah, speaking of Neinhart to me he has high MP but low durability while Jacob’s durability seems higher

Equivalent of Lucy kick -> You seriously saying Natsu went easier on Jacob then he did Bakel?
-> C'mon, Jacob is literally the only opponent bar Zeref that made Natsu use FDKM -> even Madmole didn't do that and he got floored by a way weaker Demo-Fist then Jacob got hit by -> Jacob also took that attack relatively well seeing as he barely scratch mark when he got back up. He was also not "floored" by Makarov as he was shown to be unharmed by his attack.

How? -> Lucy was never wrecked throughout the Alvarez... -> Even Levy took minimal damage despite fighting an S12 and getting poisoned with MCBs -> Cana faced off against August and landed an attack -> literally no one in FT was wrecked despite facing opponents out of their depth -> Why would Wall attacking Lucy be different? 100YQ makes a lot more sense power level wise than the Alvarez arc so using Kyria's feat is kind a no no since Alvarez was chalk full of bs and allowed even fodder tier characters to fight high tiers.

Why does killing the opponent matter? If you notice the only humans to die on the Alvarez side were August who committed suicide and Serena who was killed by Acno. Every other human survived lol and Jacob got hit by a much more devastating attack than Wall did.

That just makes Juliet and Heine powerful... they were made by Irene who made fodder Erza tier lol. The two were disrespecting S12s while other subordinates were peeing their pants to them. Agreed with your last sentiment.

I can't say he was more exhausted even in physical terms since he was only hindered by the MCBs halfway through. Sure he was waiting for Wall to use his MCB cancel magic to cure himself with, but he was fine magic wise and once the MCBs were gone physical wise besides the attakcs he suffered from Wall.

I think they are even enough as feats bcs Mira was out of mp which is lethal to mages as shown when Makarov got his magic sucked right out of him and when any mage gets the MS cuffs put on them they can't even muster superhuman abilities. So for Mira to fight in a state like that and still win is about as good as feat as Laxus. I don't think the gap is large as it once was, but I do think Laxus is still above Mira in physical power. If they battle I don't think it'll be an easy win for Laxus. Same if he fought Erza.

Also tbf Wall missed every lethal attack against Laxus and even supercharged him with lightning despite knowing he was a DS. Wall could have been ended the fight if he dropped nukes like this one
or Etherion. LLaxu an above average S12, but I wouldn't say he was so powerful that he could oneshot average level S12s and is that above them. Even though he won at a disadvantage, Wall was also at a disadvantage bcs he went retarded and stood there to get attacked lol.

Most of( if not all ) the Spriggan fights were won thanks to total plot armor, nerfing the villains or/and their sadism towards the protagonists.

And besides,I know I will get major hate for this, I honestly doubt Laxus would have one-shot Ajeel. He have would taken heavy damage, but then again, doesn't he have his sand body ability? If wind and water counter him, shouldn't he like have resistance towards lighting? XD
No can he stop the sandstorm that would have swarm team natsu and the makarov 2. Ajeel lost to elfman and lisanna why wouldn’t a casually nuke not one shot ajeel 3. Erza only have trouble with ajeel because she couldn’t equip properly if she could she would have ended the fight sooner with nakamagami armor

Who cares about that Sandstorm tho? His Sand World eclipse Laxus' AoE by a humongous margin.

We don't know how they won that fight and SW wasn't used and Elfman was immune to sand. Plus it was a lot of bs.

Erza could not beat Ajeel without him being cocky and outside interference. I think that was made clear in their fight when he easily incapacitated her as soon as he touched her.

We don’t always agree, but I always respect your arguments. This one though?

There is literally nothing to suggest either of those girls are Spriggan tier. They may be Wizard St lvl, but that’s still a less impressive feat for Mira than most others received in the series.

Her having run out of Mana because of her transformation isn’t the same as having all of it forcibly removed from your body in any way. The FT mages have literally been doing that the entire series bro.

So are people with terminal illness only really sick when they’re puking? I don’t get the point of trying to minimize Laxus sickness, when we already know the whole point of the Bane particles was to weaken him in the storyline. We have confirmed by Wahl that they were wreaking havok the entire time, he was surprised Laxus was alive at all.

So Wahl didn’t have literally panels of landing solid intended killing blows after Laxus dodged that first attack? I would literally need to ignore that entire portion of the fight for your point to rings true. An that’s ignoring that Laxus was tanking all of that.

An I don’t think we’re looking at Etherion from the same angle. Wahl felt he needed to use a technique of that caliber to kill an already dying Laxus, because his other attacks didn’t work. Not just didn’t connect. Ajeel got taken out by Jupiter. He felt a, in his own words, dying Laxus required Etherion.

You’re saying you don’t think he could....but he literally did. He literally 1 shot Wahl, who as you already mentioned was immune to all of his other attacks and was also presumably able to charge off of them like his robot double was capable of doing. Unless you believe the original inferior. 1 hit killed dude. Literally the only spell Laxus used the entire fight.

Except for his barrage during Laxus first moment of weakness. Laxus has the upper hand the majority of their fight. He pushed Wahl, who should be immune to his strikes, to transform. Laxus pushed a mid tier Spriggan who’s immune to his element in base. An once he was healed, he only needed one spell.

I don’t think there needs to be some new massive gap, but the same one there been clear since Tenrou Island is still clearly in place.

Now, I still feel Mira’s a monster, and definitely still a top force in the guild. I’m really hoping that her fight gives her the chance to really show off how deserving she is of a top spot. Though a case can be made that Cana should be getting up there now too, and I’m accepting of the idea of Lucy beating her here. Though I would prefer she lose to Natsu or Gray to save face. She’s been through enough.

The punch Natsu used against Bakyl wasn't even that impressive, even for his base mode attacks. And no, none of Natsu's attacks that he used against Jacob were even on that level. Natsu only started going all out once they were outside the guild. FDK mode is just Natsu releasing FDK flames. It doesn't make Natsu's demolition fist stronger because demolition fist already uses FDK flames. Jacob didn't take that attack well at all. He was completely knocked out, and was infact burning up before demolition fist even landed. Let's not pretend that the attack Natsu hit Zeref with was anything remotely similar to the attack Jacob was hit with. Zeref was hit by Igneel's magic power. Even basic punches with Igneel's power is stronger than FDK attacks with Natsu's own power.

Lucy was getting manhandled by Brandish turning her own power against her. That was just Lucy getting hit with her own attack, and it already was more impressive than Jacob's assault. Levy was only hit by Bloodman's flood (which doesn't do any damage) and Over Skelter (which drains the life out of you, not cause physical damage). Levy was in a terrible condition and collapsed midway through the fight. Lucy was barely harmed by Jacob, and was in near optimal shape right after the fight ended. August never really landed anything significant on Cana, mostly because Gildarts protected her. Jacob's attack power simply isn't impressive by any stretch of the imagination. Even if you believe that Lucy would be plot-shielded so as not to die, attacks as powerful as the one that landed on Laxus would easily knock out Lucy. They should be just as powerful as the attacks that Kyria used to knock out Lucy.

Saying that "only non-humans were allowed to die" is an excuse, not an argument. The fact remains that Laxus has attacks strong enough to kill the Spriggans, whereas Mirajane does not. Red lightning is more devastating than FDK demolition fist, and certainly more devastating than a punch from Satan Soul. Even if you think that red lightning doesn't quite stack up to demolition fist's AoE, the nuke Laxus dropped on Ajeel does have massive AoE. This attack is also hyped to be able to kill a Spriggan, or at least come close.

Irene didn't make fodders Erza tier. Irene enchanted the entire army, and the entire army overwhelmed Fairy Tail's forces. It took multiple berserkers to pin Erza. A single berserker was not on Erza's level, and Juliet and Heine aren't stronger than the entire Berserker Army. They aren't even stronger than the entire Alvarez Army without the enchantment, unless you think they can occupy the entire Fairy Tail guild. Juliet and Heine weren't as impressive as Ajeel or Wall, both of which Laxus could kill without exhausting his magic power. So saying that Mirajane fought Jacob while exhausted doesn't really do anything to put Mirajane on Laxus' level. Laxus would never get exhausted fighting Juliet and Heine in the first place.

It doesn't even matter that Wall missed an attack against Laxus, or that he never actually fired Etherion. Even accounting for that, every individual attack that Wall did actually land on Laxus is still more impressive than Jacob's entire arsenal of attacks. Wall's punches are leagues more impressive than any of Jacob's punches, and his long range attacks in assault mode are even stronger.

Wall is already better than Jacob at hand to hand combat. Jacob is only really powerful when he consider him using stealth and transport optimally. If he's just turning himself invisible and slapping you, he's simply not that impressive. Mirajane fought a version of Jacob that not only did not use stealth and transport optimally, but actively handicapped himself for a silly reason. If Jacob tried to fight Wall with his eyes closed and didn't use transport, Wall would maul him. Laxus would likely oneshot him with the nuke he dropped on Ajeel.

Who cares about that Sandstorm tho? His Sand World eclipse Laxus' AoE by a humongous margin.
It also does virtually nothing to anyone other than Brandish, and the one person Ajeel is focused on, the spell is low tier. Laxus' nuke also reached above the clouds, there's a good chance that it's far larger than Magnolia, and by extension, Sand World. Not that AoE means anything anyway.

Erza could not beat Ajeel without him being cocky and outside interference. I think that was made clear in their fight when he easily incapacitated her as soon as he touched her.
Erza spent upwards of 15 minutes stuck in Ajeel's sand due to Marin's interference, and she was still able to beat him at the end. At best you can say Ajeel+Marin<Erza+Bisca. Spriggans are weak compared to Fairy Tail top tiers, the haxxy ones are the only ones worth their salt, and that's only in theory. Chances are in a real battle against a decent opponent, all their hax would be overcome.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Also Wahl's retardation doesn't matter. Laxus blitzed Wahl every time he entered Lightning Body, him landing the attack he wanted was a guarantee regardless of Wahl spazzing out. The moment Wahl stopped being useful to Laxus, he was dead.
As for him using lightning on Laxus, he didn't know Laxus was a DS, Laxus used no DS spells in that fight and even Natsu couldn't tell Laxus was a DS until he used a DS spell. Wahl also specifically asked him if he was human or not, clearly he can't tell the difference between DS lungs and human ones.

Every one of the fights had so much stupidity in them it's astonishing.
Bloodman didn't use macro, sensation curse, absorption or calamity. Gajeel was saved by Levy and Irene in the end, yet some people are the opinion he's anywhere close to Spriggan lvl. Bloodman on his first appearance killed fodder in less than a second, but Levy somehow survived nearly the whole fight?
Wendy being able to cast the Enchantment spell with no body or conscious is another.
Ajeel losing off screen against Elfman and Lissanna , is just utter bs.
Lucy surviving thanks to the clock spirit is just lel.

Gajeel's not spriggan level, he's above. Bloodman was just uniquely suited to counter him. As for curses, they weren't used for the same reason the Thunder Legion never win any fights, hax is too OP... but also not OP at all because power always wins. Thunder Legion hax>>>all curses combined.
Levy isn't fodder, killing nameless chumps isn't the same as killing an actual character, especially one from FT.
Enchantment itself is BS to the extreme, not Wendy. Eileen completely ruined the concept.
Elfman is apparently relevant again, took Lucy's attack pretty well a little while ago. He's always been pretty tough anyway, taking on Bachus, oneshotting Seilah, etc. Idk why everyone thinks Elfman's a nobody(me included).
Clock spirit always saves Lucy, it's impossible to kill her with hax.

While reading the manga it almost seems like Gajeel was a suitable counter to Bloodman

Gajeel only won because Bloodman was heavily nerfedv not utilising any of most hax curses, Levy saved him wrong the Water curse and Irene saved him with universe one.Gajeel is nowhere near Spriggan level. The plot armor was too strong.

How did Irene ruin enchantments? Every Spriggan was designed to be hax and have cheat magic, but Wendy suddenly manages to top a master enchanter and a dragon at the same time, was just horrid.

There's literally 0 logical reasons how Elfman&Lisanna managed to defeat him. His sand beats from was resistant to sand sure, but in a later panel he was nearly swallowed by sand if Lisanna hand't pulled him out and yet, why didnt Ajeel use his sand storm again and just fodderizzed Lisanna?
You telling me Lucy can one-shoot Lisanna, but Ajeel couldnt?

Rationalising the fights in the last arc just makes me want to punch my computer . . .

Sayla nearly made Minerva&Erza choke themselves to death, but sure he couldn't have done that to Gajeel? Make him choke Levy? Made them stop breathing?

True, in a round about way, he killed him in the end after all.

Gajeel is a cut above normal spriggans, the only reason Bloodman posed a challenge was because he is intangible, and Gajeel is a tangible combatant, without it Gajeel massacred him. Who knows how effective curses are at this point, Mira is leagues above Wahl's robot but couldn't Macro him, so I doubt there's any chance of Bloodman Macroing Gajeel, chances are Seilah is just better at it than everyone else. As for the rest of the curses, mostly useless, Sensation can be beaten by willpower, absorption doesn't do much to a physical fighter, and the Water has already been beaten by Gajeel before, it actually makes him more powerful. Gajeel's Natsu tier as we recently saw, or close to it. and Natsu is above most spriggans.

Eileen ruined enchantments by making them able to do literally everything, it's not the fact that it's hax, its that it's completely nonsensical. Back when it was just Wendy's side magic, boosting stats and resistances, it was cool, but when Eileen came along she turned it into the most bullshit convenient nonsense magic in the manga. Do you know how much Enchantment can actually do? It can turn people into monsters, enhance them, steal bodies, create eyes in the sky, steal magic, turn people into mice, rearrange land, create big fireballs, turn swords into liquid, turn swords into people, turn winter into spring, create dragons slayers, USE A BETTER VERSION OF HEAVENLY BODY MAGICS BEST SPELL, and probably more. Wendy's enchanting wasn't the problem, it was perfect the way she used to use it. It was Eileen that came in and completely fucked it up. Wendy copying some of that bullshit is a small issue in comparison.

Like I said, Elfman is tough, everyone seems to forget that. As for why Lisanna didn't get oneshot, dunno, maybe Sand Beast protection extends beyond himself. We have no idea what Elfmans abilities are in that form. Or maybe Ajeel just saw Elfman as the immediate threat and targeted him.

Well there are who thinks Laxus is August Level in magic prowess and amount of magic. So he easily Kiria is oneshottable.

What next?Laxus on the level of Acnologia claims?

Let Laxus surpass Gildarts first then talk about August,he is still far from that level.

Basically this. Gajeel is one of the few people to hit hard enough to actually kill his Spriggan opponent. He also gave Natsu a harder fight than Jacob or enchanted Neinhart. Considering how easily those 2 went down, that alone should prove that Gajeel is stronger than the average Spriggan.

To be fair he also nerfed Gajeel to not using ISD either, since shadows could touch Bloodman anyway.
