I actually read One Piece from beginning to end for the first time this year, pretty much dedicating all of my free time to reading it till I was caught up. I started in August, and that took me about five weeks.

959 chapters in one weekend is absurd.
It's really not. I did it back in highschool with probably 200 less chapters, it should still be doable now. And if you can't literally no-life it over one weekend take two weekends.

The point is it's 900 weekly manga chapters, not 900 chapters of War and Peace. You can do it.

Ok guys. With 2010s decade almost over, what would be your favorite top-5 titles from this decade?

For me, in no order: My Hero Academia, Black Clover, Act-age, Kimetsu no Yaiba, Assassination Classroom
My Hero being a top 5 of anything. Jesus.

Just seems like you’d be doing a disservice to the series in question. It’s not a race. But many are eager to make it one so they can feel like they’re part of the discussion.

It also seems like it makes the following two things more likely: (i) the person went through things so quickly that it all sort of just blends together into an amorphous blob, and they end up treating it as a task to get through rather than something to enjoy; (ii) assuming (i) didn’t happen to that extent and they really enjoyed the series, recency bias may take hold in the heat of the moment, given how fast they went through the series, and they don’t let themselves ruminate on things (again, possibly in an attempt to ‘fit in’ with the community at large as quickly as possible).

But in this day and age of consume, consume, consume, it’s only to be expected, I guess.

Has it possibly occurred to you that, no matter how confidently you claim something, your experience might be a fringe case?

Or you just like it so much you binge read it and you have a fast enough reading and processing speed that you don't miss anything. And you reread your favorite parts later on.

Binge reading hundreds of chapters of manga being a fringe case? Doubtful.

what's with the condescending attitude lol you have chaincelman in your top 5. i don't wanna hear it
So basically due to the taste of others you reject their points entirely. Great minds think alike.

Thing is that not everyone wants to speed read a manga. I never did and never will. Period. Especially a 900+ chapters with God only knows how many developments/characters. I wouldn't be able to memorize all of the important things if I were to just skim through in a weekend.

The first chapter will have color pages too?
I assume it's the same thing as with Yuuna/WNL dual Cover/LCP thing back then.

Assassination Classroom, Kimetsu no Yaiba, Haikyuu, Chainsaw Man, Saiki Kusuo no Sai-nan. If I had to list 5 more for Top 10 it would be My Hero Academia, Soul Catcher(S), Sesuji wo Pin to!, Black Clover and Act-Age

Daiya no Ace Act 2 #19
Ace of Diamond 1st over One Piece and Kimetsu? That makes me happy, really happy. Is a WSM title that deserves love in this current age filled of 5toubun. I hope it also gets to be a contender for Oricon top-10 in 2020.

Coming back to Jump, welp Boruto is beating Jujutsu by just a position.

Ace of Diamond was my favorite sports manga. Giant Killing was a close second. Wish I had more time to get back into these.

I mean, Jujutsu is doing pretty well on its own merit. Boruto only exists because of Naruto.

In no particular order:

I might put Act-age for the fifth when I catch up. Or still hoping for something good before the year ends :3c
Also, hello.

No particular order: Chainsawman, Kimetsu no Yaiba, Act-Age, Hinomaru Zumou.

May put HeroAca (till OfA vs AfO) or TPN (pre Goldy Pond) in the last spot, but the degradation in quality was indigestible.

Favourite manga of the decade: Hinomaru Sumo > World Trigger > Haikyu > Act-age > Chainsawman.
Honourable mention to Samon the Summoner.

Still too early to properly rank AA and CSM though. Almost everything this decade lost my interest with time, and stuff I would have put near the top during its first two years ended up not even worth considering. MHA had a ridiculously solid first 100 chapters but has been mostly mediocre since. Soma, Nisekoi, Neverland and Kimetsu are all series that similarly went from love to meh. AC, Saiki, BC, Yuuna, WNL, Stone and Jujutsu were never really hype for me and just kinda constant average or maybe slightly better or worse depending on the series. Haikyu suffered from these problems the least, but it’s pacing made it almost impossible for me to enjoy weekly, even if the content itself is still good.

Really, Hinomaru and WT and the only two manga this decade that kept me constantly excited in the long term, both content and pacing wise. Could take or leave pretty much everything else.
