In case Yui does end, I'd assume they would send it out the last (similar thing happened with David/Jimoto leaving the magazine after the newer series ended), which would give it 4 more chapters at minimum and maybe more. That could be enough to wrap the story I guess.
I could see it possibly lasting 4 more chapters, but given how I wasn't expecting this sudden lunge into this major series-ending development, I could even see it ending in 2 chapters if they wanted to. I guess it'll just depend on how long they'll want the final battle to last. I had originally thought it'd last for an additional volume or 2 once they switched the focus to the childhood friend prior to this week's chapter coming out.

For Yui, Vol 2 had chapters 8-16 (so 9 overall). If it keeps going the same amount, Vol 3 would have 17-25 and Vol 4 26-34 (Ch. 34 is coming next week).
Illegal Rare, which was the previous work of Shibashi had the final volume of just 4 chapters+oneshots, so a similar case could repeat for Yui Vol 5. Five years passed from IR to KYui, so he probably did some oneshots in the meantime.

Massive shame what happened in case of Taisei. It had a fantastic concept for a SoL/rom-com mix manga plus the mangaka is clearly doing the best while writing those parts.

Chapters 2-5 were unnecessary in my opinion.
Yeah. When I started reading (before I droped it), I remember the shogi aspect doesn't interest me at all, but I was curious about the double personality and childhood friend.

In itself, the interactions was the best of the manga.

Ah, that makes sense. Now that I think about it, it makes perfect sense why the new axed series end in the order they premiered in since their final volumes would get filled up in that same order as well. So basically, it's either they allow the older new series to last another volume, release a bigger final volume, or end them in sequential order. When you put it that way, it makes business sense to do this. However, I'd like it if Double Taisei could outlast them for some nonsensical reason. Guess I just have to hope he'll be back soon with his "third times the charm" romcom/SOL series.

There is that option, yes.
So why we don't do like the "ToC" of MH? open a poll in the day the mangas get release, put all mangas (Yuuna is always released very close by the scans) put the option for all users being able to vote in 3 or 5 chapters at most and let it open for a number of days for the ones who don't read in the exactly day be able to vote.

The poll could be like:

-Which chapters on issue #49 you liked most?

1-One Piece Chapter X
2-Black Clover Chapter Y

And etc.

If users don't want, okay, but i was thinking like so many people use the thread and vote in the polls, so it would be interesting to see how it would be like the weekly chapters being ranked by the users (Of course, prevent the thread from turning into trash talk about mangas)

Just as a notice, Taisei and Beast Vol 2 have chapters 8-16, and Tokyo Vol 2 8-17. So with the same pace, Taisei and Beast would fill out the volume 3 with Ch.25.
Taisei Ch.25 comes out next week. MangaPlus shut down the multiple IDs just now. Hmmmm.

Totally agreed re Taisei, easily the best out of the newbie quartet for me. If it ends now, hoping he returns in Jump+ with SoL if anything.

Totally agree with you there. The character development and interactions between Sei and the Tendo-era rivals was easily the best part. The forced drama, however, definitely didn't work in the series' favor. Tai and the childhood friend, unfortunately, remained rather undeveloped in the end since Tai was placed on a pedestal who's unreachable and the perfect shogi player, and the childhood friend was mostly just under-utilized due to rushing the series along. She did have some pretty good moments earlier on though.

One question, are there romcoms that doesn't have harem (a lot of girls interested in a guy) in WSJ?

I mean, I know some mangas in WSJ that include romance without harem, but romance and SOL aren't the main part in these stories.

I feel like Beast Children's survival might depend on what's happening with Haikyuu.

If this 'final arc' is really more of a short epilogue and will end quick I figure they might keep BC for a while, since otherwise they'd have no sports series in the magazine. An unpopular series can still adding variety after all.

I don't mind what ends first really, I don't especially like any of them. Double Taisei does at least have some nice gags but the actual core of the series (the drama and mahjong) doesn't catch my attention at all.
you're assuming there won't be a sport manga in the new batch
i think there will be and it will be baseball

there have been way too many oneshots about baseball this year (in GIGA) for them to not be planning to lunch a new baseball manga
even in the recent Jump romance festival there was a baseball manga

We discussed this once or twice, but the problem is that we are trying to limit the number of options per poll so they wont be enormous and take a big space in the page. 20 or so options is just too much, I think

I read some chapters of Magico, but although romance is an important part, I wouldn't say it is a romcom (or SOL), right?

To be fair, Nisekoi doesn't start with a harem. At first, it was just a love triangle (the oneshot wasn't even that). An harem was formed over time.

Maybe Cross Account. I think only 2 girls were interested in the MC, the childhood tsundere and FMC.

I'm quoting this post to highlight an issue the upper staff and myself have had in regards to the topicality of this thread.

We're of the opinion that posts like this one aren't actually on-topic, and are more suited for those series' specific threads/sections.

The point of this topic is to discuss the ToC, volume sales and the health of the magazine. Now, that's not to say all specific series discussion is outright prohibited, but the discussion really does need to be focused in an overall sense, and be pertaining to the magazine itself.

So, for instance, mentioning a timeskip, when a new series starts up or when a series is cancelled, or if a series is selling well/poorly, or if a final arc is announced, or when a series gets anime information, is on-topic. But specific plot discussion or specific series' praise/criticisms is off-topic, and is better served in that series' thread/section.

Now, having said that, I will allow new series discussion (so long as it's spoiler tagged) in here. I know this may upset some, but this thread really isn't meant to be a general discussion hub for all things WSJ. This thread has a specific purpose, and this unchecked topicality has been going on for a very long time. I hope you guys understand.

Also, by new series I mean within the first three volume releases. After that point, plot discussion, even if spoiler tagged, will be off-topic and subject to moderation.~ Buranchi

My one question is this: When would we decide that a new series is old or established enough for it to not be talked about in-depth here? Would it be if it ends up being clear that the manga won't flop, or would a certain amount of time (or a certain amount of chapters) have to be released before? Especially since we have series that are going to be axed but are in the magazine for longer than usual.
