I like the idea of hiding the result until the real toc get published, we get the element or surprise but also dont have to wait for a long time for the results of a particular chapter

I just realized Shiibashi didn't say anything about returning to Jump in his comment. :(

Wouldn't be surprised to see a radical switch to Shogakukan or Kodansha now.

The real TOC with the results incorporated comes out 8 weeks later.

I was about to agree with the hider side but if voters can't see the results until they vote anyway, and we can make it so that they can't change their votes, I definitely want to make them immediately visible to a user who has voted, I see no reason not to. Hiding it for a week to generate speculative discussion seems pointless. So much of our talk I'd already so speculative at this point, adding another layer would just be discussing subjects with literally no substance.

I guess you have a point, if we dont want to further speculative discussion, the hiding results would worsen the situation. If its the opposite though, it would fit.

When do you think you should have a poll here on the forum about which girl the people want to win on We Never Learn? Or which girl do people think is most likely to win?

Which question would be better?

- Yui kamio let's loose: The only thing good about it were the super natural action events, the MC and the name of the manga. If it was released in the 90's, it wouldve been a hit

- Beast children: is a wasted potential, the point for the appeal of sport is to get attached to the characters but he wasted it in the first half of the chapters and could easily handled it when sakura was training with his senpai. The recent chapter with sakura best friend was a perfect example he should've handled it.

Also the sequences in the matches was so inconsistent, an new comer reading rugby would get lost on what's happening in the first couple sec. Also lack on field "camera" angle, it's hard to see where certain characters are walking to if the panels are ONLY drawn with characters. Most important also in shonen, lack of Specialty what the characters are: (Tackle, mobility, catching, kicking, passing). I could make a whole A4, on this such wasted potential.

The slowly detachment the serie gave was just wrong

- Double taisei: it was already doomed when we saw it's an shogi manga, those mangas are cursed after hikari no go. If it wasn't shogi, it maybe could survive.

- Tokyo shinobi squad: the author threw his whole amazing world-building away and is a disgrace to cyber-punk theme. Lmao the clout he got from the famous author that defined a genre was sadly a waste. Again an wasted potential.

It really shows they are new in this business, there is nothing wrong with it. Being published at the most famous shonen magazine is a bless, even if you get axed. Learn from your mistakes and hopefully you come back with a hit.

RIP FLOP SQUAD

( pls saiyuki author come back, I hope you really didnt gave up :feelsbadman)

NEW SERIES

Zipman: looks like an manga that knows on what's doing, also you can see he is adapting to the environment on what's populair. Thank god he wasn't sticking to the mha look-alike one-shot.

AGravity: I'm the most intestered in this cuz these type of manga mostly get disclined in wsj, unless it goes to WSJ wishes. It reminds me of asta lost space and that was also was planned to be in wsj, but the whole manga had to be changed to WSJ wishes so he the author decided to go into jump+.

I hope Jump is more serious on what to serialize what manga and look better into the work of the newbies manga.

But what is the point of hiding things??? there's no fun in that, no one knows anything, you don't know how many votes it have, you don't know what chapter is most voted for 2 months, what is the point of all this?
Cuz people can sabotage on what's already the most voted or keep voting for that specific manga that people bandwagon than rather for its chapter

I don't think Taisei was necessarily doomed because it was a shogi manga. That happened because it was a terrible shogi manga. The moves went unexplained, the matches were rushed, early chapters barely focused on that... In fact we had more of metaphor panels during the plays rather than actual shogi action! Some slice of life/comedy parts were good, but that came too late to matter.

Completely agreed about Tokyo Shinobi Squad. Also, for a manga that had "squad" in it's title, it did a horrible job establishing the damn squad. But hey, the mangaka needed to show how badass and OP our MC is!

Ok just completed Spy Family to its latest chapter (tho I had read the first 2-3 chapters previously) and I found................... NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING interesting in it, the way it became super popular and hype, I thought it might have something special in it , but I found nothing special in it (no offense at all to SF fans) it all just contained cute/moe fanservice(the cute anya moments and family interactions), it has just a very normal story and plot, nothing at all deserving to be at it's current hype. It's just a normal one. I'm disappointed in it tho I'll wait for it who knows things might become better or something interesting happens in future.

Again no offense to SF fans. It's just super overrated

Remember Beelzebub? I think the reason SpyxFamily is so hyped shares a reason with Beelzebub that many readers of that series also liked - Family. That which you see as "cute/moe fanservice" feels genuine for many other readers, probably because it is a patch-work family like with was with Oga, Beel and Hilda and in this case Twilight, Anya and Yor. It is because every reader knows that this family is "fake" and will end once Twilight's mission is fulfilled or will get in trouble to keep going once Yor finds out that Twilight is a foreign Spy or even has the order to kill him. In Beelzebub we had a selfish delinquent take care of a demon cry-baby while a strict wet nurse was ready to whoop his ass if he didn't took care of the baby properly. Which is what happened, we saw Oga become a real dad despite being a teenager, taking care of Beel and Beel growing in that process and together with that Oga's and Hilda's relationship changed, from one where they couldn't stand each other to one with mutual respect.
SpyxFamily is similar in that regard with some tweaks and changes. We got Twilight a "Job only"-guy who has to take Anya as his child as part of his mission and he couldn't care less what kid he takes in as long as he gets his mission done. Then we have Anya, a 5 year old Esper girl who can read minds and is starving for a loving family where she can live as a child, and ofc Yor our badass assassin who needs a family in fear of being seen as a spy because she remained unmarried for so long. They also have the same start as a "fake" family but you see how much Twilight starts to care for Anya and Yor and you want him to make that family "real" no matter the outcome of his mission. Anya can talk unlike Beel (though a lot of people able to understand Beel's da-dahs so not really a difference xD) and her mind reading powers make her a fun observer of both Twilight and Yor and easy for the readers to self-insert because they want Anya happy and because Anya got a similar "POV" on the story as the readers do. Twilight can change into any person he wants, is highly competent and successful in his job and got a noble goal why he is doing it yet you can also see his problems with being a dad and having to hide his spy identity and ofc meet the demands of his employer. Yor is a strong and fast assassin who burst with love for he family but is clumsy and a bit of an airhead quite different to the overall competent and strict Hilda who cared most about Beel no matter the consequences to others.

I guess for many readers, this is one of the special things that make it worth for them to read it. For them it is not fanservice but something they can identify with and which they want for themselves as well no matter their age or gender - a loving family that is there for each other.

At least that is my view on one part of why SxF is so popular.^^

And it's funny and at the same time very sad.

We have mangas like double taisei whose author tried level best and hard in giving something new and a good quality content but failed but then we have stuffs like S×F which has an absolutely childish plot and just cuteness stuffs nothing interesting and yet becoming smash hits......... It's really so sad.

Chill man. Just because you don't like a series doesn't mean it has "nothing interesting" or that it's overrated. Arguing that the series has no merits when it's the biggest smash hit since TPN for Jump (iirc) just shows bias against it. You can acknowledge a series' strength without personally enjoying it.

Which is why I said “different strokes for different strokes”
You can’t fathom how SXF can be so popular, while I completely disagree with the statement that Double Taisei was good. For me, I was baffled every week when ppl said “Double Taisei had a GREAT chapter this week!”, and begged for it to pull through. But I just chalked up to it being something that just doesn’t appeal to me in the same way that it appealed to some others.
I feel like the term “overrated” is almost always a useless term. Literally anything that’s insanely popular will be called “overrated” by a group of people

Thinking about the new series again, everyone seems to be assuming Agravity Boys is some sci-fi manga based on the name but do we actually know anything at all about it? The little picture to me looks like they're wearing sports uniforms, and it makes sense to be starting a new sports manga with Beast Children gone. It could just be a weird name referencing something, like how Robot x Laserbeam was a golf manga with no sci-fi anywhere.

I hope we get a new sports hit soon, I like Haikyuu but that's all we got now aside from the total flop that is Beast Children.

funny to compare it to Double Taisei in this case. The series where the author wrote a shogi series and apparently knew nothing about shogi (some early author comments apologized for mistakes) and didn't hire a consultant until chapter 3 or 4. The most favoured parts (here at least) have nothing to even do with shogi.

Meanwhile according to the editor interview the Spy x Family author has done a ton of research writing this story. Based on his Twitter he seems to really be enjoying and putting his all into the series as well. Not sure how you could say the Double Taisei author tried their best when they stumble so much right out the gate while the Spy X Family author hasn't?

In short for all your answers is Different people different opinions different tastes....... ok.

Btw I was just giving an example of double taisei not like just take it literally but still ok
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

But the thing is just as James said people want to have something like that.

And let me end it with this.... It's my opinion so no need to take it seriously.
