Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

So, with the announcement of Jump Force getting a Season 2 in spite of really not deserving it, I ask a question.

How would you handle a Jump crossover game?
My ideal Jump game would be something like the Marvel vs Capcom series, an incredibly fun, and totally broken 2D tag team fighting game with a ton of characters.

Have you? I played both religiously back when they came out. All they have to do is change how komas work. Perhaps by assigning specific ones to button presses, or foregoing the traditional concept in favor of another special attack.
Bro, it won't work

Put Ganbarion developing the games and make a new Jump Ultimate Stars. 40 characters or more from all the decades with all the established series. No need to be like a 2D fighting game so they won't need to put many balance

JUS if I remeber had a roster nearing 50 characters so if they where ablento somehow make the game work and used to same roster + more then the amount of characters can go to nearly 100 (not counting assist only which would double that number)

Why? Limit the amount of koma you can equip, and have them as button presses rather than tappable manga panel.
The corresponding panel(s) can still display on screen.

Because the method you suggested was to have the soma abilities mapped to different buttons right? But then, that would 1. Make the game feel clunky and 2 take away from the charm of the game.

They might as well make a smash clone which JUS wasn't in the first place 🤷🏾‍♂️

I don't see it as necessarily being clunky or taking away from the charm.
At this point we're arguing opinions so we shouldn't be stating said opinions as fact.

THIS!!! Been wanting an SJ vs Capcom fighting game for a looooong time now. Hell, I would even settle for another self-contained crossover SJ game as long as it has a traditional fighting game control scheme ala Marvel vs Capcom or Dragon Ball FighterZ. Maybe it's the competitive FG player in me, but I can see a lot potential for a balls-to-the-walls 3v3 2D/2.5 fighter. Would be awesome too if they had personalized intros depending on what characters are teamed up with or who their opponent is. Goku and Ryu exchanging words about how excited they are to face one another or Strider Hiryu lecturing a teenage Naruto about how a ninja should conduct themselves would be sick. A game like that could honestly be an EVO staple if done right.

Guys, it's okay to post news about Jump titles getting video games, however, posting game mechanics and the like of said video games is starting to encroach on off-topic territory. Same with speculating on which series will get video games.

I realize you guys didn't know that, so I'm not going to delete the posts before now. Just know this going forward. Thanks.

So that was an underwhelming but okay awards show, any new information? (At least Jump Force didn't win Best Fighting Game despite them advertising it as a nominee...)

Lmao, Jump Force got nominated for best fighting game at the game awards. Why on Earth am I watching this shitshow?
It was a bad year for fighting games. But, the awards aren't decided by the TGA but by a jury with tons of sites, companies and such that do reviews of games in many different countries.

This is about Kodansha technically, but the information given is important I think in terms of general discussion.
It's from Kodansha, but I expect to be similar to Shueisha. So now gone the myth of Asian market being more important than North America and Europe.

Another interesting finding is the price difference between countries. Damn lucky us Vietnamese, have manga with the cheapest price, slightly more than a half of the second cheapest nation.

It was an okay, unremarkable event after all.

Interesting numbers, but I think the only thing these values converted to yen means is how much profit each of these countries is capable of giving to japanese publishers. For example, using yen, Brazil tankobons cost less than half of US ones but comparing to each country's average income, the brazilian ones are way more expensive. Anyway, just my two cents on this matter since it's kinda off-topic.
Thx for sharing btw, I do think Shueisha numbers are similiar too.

Dailies for 12.12

With a bunch of new releases, MHA 25 drops to #13 and KNY 18 is at #18... Funny though, KNY 1, 2 and 3 are charting higher at #6, #9 and #14...

France weekly book ranking:

Week 49, December 2 to December 8 :

018./NEW. One-Punch Man v. 18 [2019-12-05]
021./009. Dragon Ball Super v. 9 [2019-11-20]
025./007. The Promised Neverland v. 11 [2019-11-27]
075./042. My Hero Academia v. 21 [2019-11-07]
148./116. One Piece v. 92 [2019-10-16]
173./058. Demon Slayer v. 5 [2019-09-19]
195./198. Naruto v. 1 [2002-03-09]

Last week, the limited edition containing the two volumes of Samurai 8 was #175. This week it’s out of the top 200. But so are the first two volumes, although they came out this week (December 6).
I thought that the reason Naruto came back in the top was because of Samurai 8 and the promotion around it, but it seems I was wrong - it must simply be a popular title, especially around Christmas

Though we have to remember that because the holyday season is starting, the threshold to enter the top 200 is much higher (that can be seen with OPM
being #18 for its first week: any other month it would have been in the top 10, even a week earlier, as it sells more than Neverland which was #7 last week)

Not really as Japan still is the biggest market by far for manga.

Invade You! mangaka uploaded a one-shot of theirs on twitter.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Act-Age's merch designs are truly on another level.
I'll give it to the Invade You author, he certainly does seem to be giving it his all trying to improve his skills. After how badly Invade You tanked, I was concerned he might give up, it it seems like he's been trying to double-down on drawing and getting his work out there. He's published a lot of different oneshots in various Shueisha mediums, and I do think the human characters in this one look better than the Invade You serialization. Hopefully he'll keep on improving his artwork.

Yozakura is really getting to my nerves with the amount of new character they keep fucking introducing, enough already

why are they even fucking introduced??? what's the fucking difference between the psycho girl or the psycho toy store owner or the psycho older brother?
"kill taiyo hurr durrr"
"fucking love mutusmi hurr durr"
That's been my problem with many of the new characters. I don't mind the constant introductions since it's early on, but now, I think they should stick with the cast size at hand and flesh them out a bit. Your quotes do hit the nail on the head for most of the cast though. They need some characters who at least have a different feel to them. Leave one crazy and tone the others down so they don't feel so similar to each other.

This has been one area where Mitama has excelled in lately. As a gag series, the supporting cast is basically just as important as the main character(s), so they tend to have frequent introductions in earlier chapters. However, each character shown has a unique personality and shtick; the recurring spirits have colorful personalities and even touching backstories in some cases, Mitama's former classmate is a textbook tsundere, Rena's detective classmate's gag is humorously overly-convoluted, the spirit hunter had a fun introduction (can't wait to see him again!), and Mitama's old adviser added a touch of seriousness at times. Yozakura needs to add some personality diversity to its supporting cast.

No, it's gonna be a sequel with next-gen kids. And Souma will have two kids from different moms, Erina and Hisako. Megumi pairs up with Asahi, and has one kid, while Isshiki decides to open up a Ryokan with Nene. Gaining 2 stars all the while he holds wild parties with regular customers and Nene kicking them out everytime.
It's weird you say this since I remember seeing a comment on the 4chan TOC thread for this issue where someone was claiming that a new bi-weekly magazine is going to be announced at Jump Festa, and one of the first things they mentioned was a sequel to Shokugeki no Soma. I can't imagine this being true whatsoever, especially since the list they provided seemed too good to be true. Also, those pairings sound like a nightmare lol
