Nope. It doesn't. Stop asking WSJ to treat it like its anything higher than a moderately successful battle manga. It isn't.
JK which doesnt even have an anime almost matches its sales on a Volume to Volume basis now.

Even if WSJ removed one of the four from the cover and replaced it with a different MC from one of their serializations, Emma's next in line, not Asta.

EDIT: This doesn't mean that Black Clover is or isn't deserving, that's entirely subjective. I'm just saying that with how much Black Clover sells compared to the rest of the magazine, with an anime already airing, it wouldn't make much sense for Jump to give Asta prominence in group covers when characters like Emma are from series that generate more sales on a per volume basis.

No it doesn't, there's no reason for BC to be on the front anymore when they have 5 (about to be 6) series that sell more

Personally, I think Hinata's still in over Emma because The Promised Neverland is widely expected to end in 2020, anyways. Haikyu! has at least two more years in the tank, I believe, and both series sell about equally, so IMO it makes sense to keep promoting the one that isn't going to end sooner. Tanjiro's being promoted despite also being expected to end in 2020 because Kimetsu makes way too much money for Jump to just not promote it. That series is white hot right now, and Jump's gotta strike that iron.

Ok but this is your personal bias at this point. Sales-wise Asta doesn’t deserve that spot. One Piece, Kimetsu no Yaiba, Haikyuu and The Promised Neverland sell way more than Black Clover, so there’s nothing wrong with Asta not being up there.
This is not about who you want to be the face of Jump, but rather which deserves more the spot looking at the sales, and BC doesn’t deserve it.
There are many manga I would want to be the face of Jump, but this is not happening if they don’t sell well enough to be considered so.
Honestly I find it better this way, so that Jump encourages authors to do better and better

Sales does not equal to what series become the face of the magazine, but there is a good correlation.

Naruto doesn't become the face until 2002/2003 onward. From 1997 till 2003. The faces were Luffy from One Piece, Gon from Hunter x Hunter and Takeshi from Takeshi. Sometimes Kochikame sits on it too. Mind you this is the period where there were countless competitions.

and Toriko in 2011 which we already discussed.

The next in line that they should push is Kei from Act-Age and the MC from Jujutsu Kaisen. But knowing Clowneisha Hachimaru is up next.

Black Clover is currently my favorite between the big 5, but no man, BC doesn't deserve. Those type of manga that are on front are the best-selling ones and BC while selling relatively well, it doesn't make numbers to be in that position. It's true that in the past it was, but it was other reality with many manga not existing or having less sales (like Kimetsu, for example) while now the reality is different.
