Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

they updated GIGA page with the new oneshots and better preview

Shutaro Inui (Monkey Punk) is doing another oneshot, they're giving him an equal billing to Ishiyama and TSS artist despite being a 19 years old noob

also Momose Nao who did Sayonara Manuke na Yuukaihan-san in issue 31 is back already too

Oh I remember reading through that Monkey Punk oneshot before. The art style jogged my memory immediately. In some ways, it kind of reminds me of Tokyo Revengers over in Weekly Shonen Magazine, but it seems like a series that would be textbook Weekly Shonen Champion material. Interesting that he keeps trying to work with Jump, but it would definitely have a unique feel to it if he maintains his style from the first oneshot.

Sayonara Manuke seems like it had a decent amount of Twitter following and traction, and it appears to be a pretty serious oneshot. The artstyle was also interesting on this one, with some parts of it being fairly rough. However, I'm interested to see what this one will be about.

On a semi-related note, does anyone know if there's a way on Jump+ to only search a full list of oneshots? I know they have current serialization and ended serializations, but I'm trying to figure out a way to see all of the oneshots from the past.

Well, I spoke to Brandish about it, and the number of votes may not actually be the problem. It's just something that may keep happening because we have about 100 people, more or less, that bother voting.

Like I said, we'll see how it works. If we're still getting the same number of ties, there's no reason to keep it at five, since that's literally the only reason why I increased it at all.

I wanted this to be authentic to the way WSJ does it, but with our small pool of voters, we may have to adjust.
The meaning of vote is to vote, if you give us like 8 votes. You can always vote lock your fav manga instead of doing a real vote, the ranking will be the same every week. 5 is enough, people should just accept to vote on different manga based on improvement on its chapter rather than locking your fav mangas

Ideally, that's how it should work. However, not everyone reads all the series in Jump, or hell, even five series.

I want people to understand that they don't have to use all of the votes. Also, yeah, we encourage people to vote on what they feel is the best that week.

None of these series should be receiving automatic votes based solely on loyalty or whatever.

Fat chance of that happening.

Also are we allowed to make requests and stuff? Was kinda hoping if you could make the votes work so like, you can rank them. Rank what you think was the No1 chapter of the week followed by the 2nd best etc. And you can display on the votes what was ranked 1st best by most people and yada yada. Do you know what I mean? :D

Then it completely defeats the purpose of the poll. This isn't favorite series, it's favorite chapter per week. No series will always have the best chapters every week, even if the overall series is good/great.

Isn't... that what we're already doing?

Not sure if it's possible on the polls here, but weighted votes. So being able to rank the series you vote for, 1-5, with 1 receiving more points than 2, 2 more than 3, etc.

Yeah, that's not possible. You'd have to switch it to a questionnaire format, I'd imagine. Strongly dislike/strongly like sort of thing, etc.

I read almost all of WSJ currently. It's only Haikyuu and Samurai 8 that I don't read, so I'm with pretty much everything.

From a Japanese box office thread:

My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, the second film in the popular anime/manga series, debuted in third place, selling 224,000 admissions over the weekend across 313 screens; it sold 332,409 admissions since opening on Friday. The film closely followed the weekend performance of the original, dropping just 1% versus its predecessor's debut. Look for a finish between ¥1.5-2.0 billion ($15-20 million). The franchise has peaked, but it also hasn't really lost much, if any, popularity since manga sales and TV ratings also remain stable.

Oh, this is nice. Given that it faced strong competition coming from SW and Frozen, earning about as much as the first movie is a good performance.

I know it ain't ideal, but I like to voice my opinion

Amazon listing for the February series are up. Mitama is, to no one's surprise, miles ahead of Yozakura.
