Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Actually... no, it didn't.

Gotoubun average sales per volume: 6,719 (5,488 BDs + 1,231 DVDs)
Kaguya average sales per volume: 4,906 (4,312 BDs + 594 DVDs)

I'll stop here, though, since it is off topic. It's jsut something I found weird.
The profit of a franchise is likely measured through different sources of income (not only BD and DVDs sales).

This generates me a doubt, what other information does Oricon use to measure the profitability of a franchise? Merchandise sales?

Yes, Gotoubun sold much more than Kaguya. Thing is, it's about revenue (yen), so it's probably a question that Gotoubun products are cheaper than Kaguya.

Five votes is sort of too much for me, even more considering they aren't weighted. The distance between the chapter I thought was the best and thought was the 5th best is way too big.
Wow really. They where all amazing chapters this week

Think it's right to call Yozakura axe fodder at this point?
normally i'd agree with you, i mean it's dead last in the toc even under S8
but the recent 2 batches allowed flopping series to last for 25+ chapters
which is enough time for either Agravity and Zipman to flop even harder and save it

Since two anime from WSJ got by Toei and people still have doubts about them, here just something from the latest Precure movie that released some weeks ago.

did anyone actually question Toei movies quality? they always deliver
people have a problem with their weekly tv shows Q U A L I T Y

I don't know if it was posted before but now we have the image of Fujimaki's one shot. So it's not sports this time.

neither was Vanguard of Archer & what did he do after it? RxL

They're fantastic. A baby, a dinosaur and optimus prime on a onsen lol

that looks like a godzilla rather than a dinosaur to me and there's a Kannon in the back too
there's another shot where you can see Devil Man and Son Goku and next week we are getting a JRPG hero looking for a party member

world's most ambtious crossover I guess?

The reason is actually pretty easy to make out - movie merchandise. Kaguya is played by Kanna Hashimoto, the most popular actress in Japan right now with an idol-like following (she also was one a few years ago). Shirogane is played by an Johnnys Idol who is also really popular. The fanbase is similar to Kpop as in how invested they are in their idols and how they go all out to support everything their idol does with buying tons of merch etc.

Sorry for the off topic post. Just wanted to clear this up.

Didn't 5toubun have big name seiyuu? It even had the only seiyuu I can recall name and roles vividly, Hanakana.

It had popular seiyuu's but you can't compare that to celebrities that are basically known by everyone in the country. Seiyuu otakus are more niche compared to idol otakus

Japanese Twitter poll results for the Issue 3

1. Kimetsu no Yaiba
2. Act-Age
3. Haikyuu
4. Chainsaw Man
5. We Never Learn
6. Jujutsu Kaisen
7. Dr. Stone
8. Mitama Security
9. Agravity Boys
10. My Hero Academia
11. One Piece
12. Dr. Stone Reboot
13. Zipman
14. Samurai 8
15. The Promised Neverland
16. Kiraboshi no Meryl (Oneshot)
17. Mission Yozakura Family
18. Black Clover
19. Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san
20. Kochikame (Special Chapter)
21. Deku & Bakugo: RISING Part 1
I'm really surprised for this one, this one is way different than couple before. I really hope mitama survive as the new king of gag manga. gravity is for me pretty funny (lmao that chapter was so dramatic for a dump).

For zipman there is potential, just give it couple more chapters to develop it.

Yozakura family man... idk maybe it's just not for me but it's such a hit and miss, now even the author is aware that he has to put serious work in it next year with its "new development", sounds like an excuse to turn the plot 360. (Reminds me alot of khr but khr had atleast a purpose)

For drstone reboot I freaking love the last chapter, this spin-off helped so much for the main series. It made me tear :'). Cant wait to see REI meeting senku

For the lower part. Zzzz dropped samurai8 long time ago, dont care.

Hope black clover will get its respect back now that tabata has his own studio, I wonder what black clover has to offer to proof itself with this new development

I agree. Not to mention, it removes the main reason we set the poll up the begin with, that being to replicate what JP readers do in the voting. Doing the "Five Votes" thing is a mistake, plain and simple.
How many votes u wanna have than?, it's not a vote if you can vote for "every" manga lol

they updated GIGA page with the new oneshots and better preview

Shutaro Inui (Monkey Punk) is doing another oneshot, they're giving him an equal billing to Ishiyama and TSS artist despite being a 19 years old noob

also Momose Nao who did Sayonara Manuke na Yuukaihan-san in issue 31 is back already too

Woahh, only 19? Absolutely loved his artstyle. The faces he draw remember me a lot of Katsuhiro Otomo and Taiyō Matsumoto art, like a mixture of the two. I don't know if something this unique looking would be accepted by the editorial to be in WSJ but I totally would read it.

Bit late but thoughts on this weeks chapters.

Yozakura: That was an ok chapter, but felt really out of place, wasn't built to at all. Still holding out hope for this series but slowly losing it.
Mitama: Maybe didn't like this as much as the last few, but was still quite funny.
Zipman: It's fine, no further comment.
Agravity Boys: This chapter was so stupid but I found it way funnier than it had any right to be.

Is there a translated version of the one shot? That was really cool and I didn't understand a word 🤣
