Why do you like Jerza?

Not really sure, they seem to fit so well. Their history starts from TOH when they were kids, Jellal gave Erza her last name. As kids, Jellal was to Erza, as Natsu currently is to Lucy; used to be the 'leader' of the group, reliable and protective. And as adults, it's Erza that is Erza being his light/hope and metaphorically pulling Jellal from his self loathing (tho I wonder if anything changed for him lol).

Their relationship was also developed through the series, with them making their feelings towards each other clear. There was gradual progression every arc.

The others just don't make sense or are weird to me.
Juvia is just aplain stalker that fell in love at first sight.

Levy went for the guy who beat the shit out of her in their very first interaction.

Lucy's development of feelings for Natsu was actually done well, over a period of time. But Natsu clearly doesn't give a fuck. Also, Hiro suddenly ignoring Natsu x Lissana (wouldn't have been an issue if Hiro didn't bring back Lissana at all), and not even bothering to address it seems weird and forced to me, it affects my perception of Natsu x Lucy

NaLu will never be as garbage as Jerza. First, Natsu never tried to kill Lucy or vice versa, secondly, they actually have a developed relationship with each other, and lastly, NaLu doesn't spit on people's graves.

May the OG Simon rest in peace. A true King who always put his love's best interest and betterment over his own. Simon never deserved to be spit in the face by this garbage ship and his sister sure as hell shouldn't have been shamed for wanting to merk that fool. I'm deadass surprised she sees Erza as a sister after knowing how badly Erza wants to shag her brother's killer. The entire Mikazuchi family gets f-ed over for Jerza.

Jerza is just such a garbage ship in comparison. It makes Erza look like a shallow and pathetic woman. Despite everything he's done to hurt her and others she cares for, she still somehow loves him unwaveringly. The man killed her friend, beat the crap out of her other one, enslaved people as well as her friends, tortured and killed people, destroyed the entire council, and used them to fire off a country busting weapon which could have resulted in countless lives being loss. Yet even though she witness that shit firsthand, she still loves him unwaveringly.

There is really no way to get around how bad a ship Jerza is. Erza is literally a victim of his abuse and she runs back to him so easily that it is not funny, but sad. Natsu didn't even instantly forgive this dude and the only person in Natsu's circle that was personally hurt by Jellal was Erza while Erza literally had Simon, Milleena, and Sho who got f-ed over by Jellal. He also uses them as hostages to keep her silent over the entire thing for years. He psychologically abused her for almost a decade and that fudged her up more than the original torturers of the Tower of Heaven.

Does any of this matter? Nope, she goes straight back to loving Jellal with zero form of development. She is so helplessly in love that it is sick.

At least Levy (who is a side character at that lol) didn't forgive Gajeel for beating her up so easily. She had to take time to get to know Gajeel before she started to see him as an ally and then a lover. Where's that development for Jerza? Nowhere to be seen as Jellal is off doing is own thing far away from Erza while Erza is just some helpless girl who is waiting for him to return her feelings. That is tier development right there.

NaLu will never be worse than Jerza.

For levy and gajeel I felt differently that she forgave him too easily. Gajeel protected levy just from the lightning of laxus after we saw nothing else between them until tenro or there we can say that levy forgave gajeel but we saw no escape between them romance. I prefer the development of jerza to scabies.

So being controlled by someone else was his fault.
They did forgive him after one arc but that was after he gave Natsu his power and Erza didn’t attack him because he lost his memory.

He wasn't controlled by anyone. He got manipulated by Ultear, but it was his free will to go along with the con. Ultear can't mind control people or enslave theirs wills lol. Everything he has done in the past as been of his own volition.

Sorry, but I'm going to have to defend Jellal and Jerza a bit here. Ultear said she was controlling Jellal, and I take that to mean that she had some sort of control over his mind. We see what Jellal is like when he's not under Ultear's influence, and he's basically a completely different person. Even when he regained all his memories, the way he chooses to act is more or less the actions of a stereotypical good guy. Compare that to Ultear. When all is said and done, without the influence of anyone, Ultear still has evil thoughts. It's actually the reason she turned into a old granny. She thought about killing an innocent Rogue to change the future, realized that she was still an immoral person and that's what drove her to use last aegis.

I mean the White Witch is currently influencing everyone in Fairy Tail. They still kept some of their personality, and Jellal is even under her control. Jellal isn't trying to kill anyone here. He's just trying to bang Erza. So that pretty much tells me that whatever influence Ultear had on Jelllal, it was more malicious than White Witch's influence.

Also this is going to sound a bit mean, and I'm using the benefit of hindsight here, but Simon kind of killed himself. Yeah, I know he's a great guy and all...but he had no business trying to block an attack meant for Erza. I mean....Jellal was actually trying to "kill" Natsu because he was annoying. Like Laxus had the same reaction when he wouldn't go down. Heck, I'm sure there's a good deal of haters in the fanbase that want Natsu and Erza to die, and if they get isekai'd to the FT verse wouldn't hesitate at taking a couple of blasts at them. Also, even if Jellal held back on his attack, stepping in front of any attack from Jellal aimed at Erza or Natsu is basically suicide. The same thing would have happened if he stopped any of the other attacks Jellal used on Natsu in the fight. Not like Altaris was even his best attack. Even before the timeskip he had abyss break, which was better. GMG arc Jellal was willing to use Sema on Jura. A combination of Sema and Grand Chariot didn't kill any of the Oracion Seis members. Jellal would have accidentally killed Simon if he and Jura were just sparring, and he would have accidentally killed Simon if he was in the group along with Oracion. Jellal was too stronk for Simon to handle. Now that I think about it, Simon is kind of getting cucked here. Jellal managed to kiss his sister and Erza will inevitably end up with him. Nice guys finish last.
