Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Byakuya is already gone. We got two one-shots and two empty spots (18 manga in the magazine).

That's why it's so weird that they are advertising one and not speaking a word about the other. You'd think having two flagships would be something they'd be proud of, but apparently not.
We actually have 3 empty.

The TOC on the last page has 18 series (including the one-shots), so 2 empty.
Oneshots don't count as series. Since the Dr. Stone spin-off has ended there are officially 17 series in the magazine. Feel free to count. Typically 20 series is the max the magazine will have at one time. Therefore 3 empty slots. Yuuna, Zip, Agravity, Dr. Stone, One Piece, MHA, Demon Slayer, Black Clover, Haikyuu, TPN, Mitama, Yozakura, Samurai 8, Chainsaw Man, JJK, Act-Age, We Never Learn. 17 series.

I didn't say the magazine has 2 empty slots, I said there are 2 one-shots and 2 empty spots in the next issue. Please learn to read in context.

Your wording was.. interesting... to say the least. But okay. Still doesn't change the fact there's 3 empty slots even in that issue. The amount of series and available slots in the magazine doesn't change when you have oneshots in one issue. Oneshots still don't count.

Not sure if it was Shueisha, but I recalled a advertisement on a building listing best sellers each year (unsurprisingly, one piece for consecutive 10 times or more) that ended with kny at the end.

No that’s fake (edit by the guy who posted it). already debunked. Only 3 years though
2016: op
2017, 2018: same thing
2019: demon slayer

It'll be so satisfying when Kny beats OP in that category too and then gotouge just ends the series. It would be a nice "fuck you" to Shueisha.
That would make no sense considering that the end would be planned with a Shueisha employee in accordance to the rest. lol

There are 3 empty slots in the line-up, but there are 2 empty spots (voids? missing entries? unfilled places?) in the next issue.

We should probably agree on a name for that. :tem'

Seems Yozakura and Mitama are duking it out right now. Following the Amazon rankings shows that as well, the two seem to bounce between each other multiple times.

Also, uh...wow. That Samurai 8 position sure is...something.

Did anyone see this happening? Because even I thought Shueisha would be more merciful to the series.

According to the M+ rankings, Mitama should be in a lot more trouble. With the same number of chapters, Yozakura has 5.25 times more views.

I guess this will give us a chance to see how representative they are.

I really wonder what they're going to do with it. Cancelling it will be awkward, keeping it would be hypocritical. I suppose they could try and pawn it off to some other magazine, like they did with Boruto (was that one doing bad too, or was it transferred for some other reason?)

Maybe Samurai 8 will actually end in 8 or 9 volumes like Kishi said (maybe I'm confusing what he intended for Naruto)? That's the only reason I can think about why they are placing it too low in the toc.

That's still ~50 chapters to go though, isn't it?

Would they really let the series stay at the bottom for another year?

My guess for Samurai 8 is that it'll probably end if all the new series consistently stay above it (meaning Yozakura and Mitama continue to do it, and Zipman and Agravity Boys keep that kind of spot too once they're ranked). Especially if the sales drop for vol 3.

The series clearly isn't gathering any momentum, and now that the novelty of it being Kishimoto's new series has worn off (which didn't attrach nearly as many fans as they probably hoped in the first place either), it's unable to get it's initial passable niche either. The series is dead at this point, it's just a matter of if Shueisha's willing to keep it around for its okay sales compared to other new manga or not (though first we need to see vol 3's sales, if they're a significant drop it'll be a really bad sign).

There's been cases where authors had to extend the series because of editorial pressure. So I basically meant it'd be nice if gotouge ignores them.

Oh wow, look at Yozakura rising and Mitama dropping to almost last, so i guess, RIP Mitama Secureity? kkkkkk

Just kidding, i don't think both are in real danger for now, Samurai 8 even less, considering both Neverland and We Never Learn are ending very soon

Why? Because, no matter your opinion on Samurai 8 as a manga, it's hard to argue its been giving Jump anything that justifies keeping it around. It really seems more to be just a matter of when Jump sees fit to end it.
