So theres a new king in the town, Yaiba is outselling One Piece as a whole, looking at the volume 94 sales its almost guaranted that volume 19 will beat it when released (95 too), i wonder what is going on behind the scenes because this manga is getting way too big to just casually end in few months.

I would honestly prefer it to end later this year, making the story even longer would be a huge mistake, IMHO.

I dunno, I feel like ending the same year it (possibly) becomes the #1 best-seller in a single year of the Oricon era is a pretty epic thing to do.

Plus, it might be wiser to just have Gotouge coming back soonish with something new instead of milking it until no one cares anymore like they did with Naruto/Kishimoto.

What you said literally doesnt make any sense, how Shonen Jump milked Naruto until "no one cares"?

I mean that Naruto just kept going on and on past its peak and even now it's still going as Boruto so most people weren't as excited for Kishimoto's new work as they might have hoped. (This is were we can argue S8's quality, but you'd think someone of Kishimoto's status could pull bigger numbers for at least the first volume based on name recognition alone). Basically people weren't in a state of wanting MOAR Kishimoto, 'cause they already got so much of it.

Compare that to Fujimaki coming back just a couple years after Kuroko ended at its peak. Sure, RxL failed in the end, but at least the initial reception was very good.

Is still large to reach the lvl of One piece 2011 when they get 37Mio, I doubt that KnY gonna pass it, they will lost these hype after some time passed, I even doubt if KnY even can reach the second highest of One piece.

If Kimetsu can do 1 million for the next 10 months, that's already 22 million -23 million.
Realistically, Kimetsu might do another 3-4 million for another month or even for two months and the months it's volume releases, it can probably do 2 million those months. Meaning 30-32 million is definitely possible.

If the movie boosts the sales again, then beating OP's record isn't impossible anymore.

Well by February I can see KnY peaking Snk's best year. The rest its just a matter of time and see how much the upcoming volumes will sell and what kind of boost will the movie give. Well at least it will be in top 5.

Beating op twice in a row alone is just insane.

While the original Naruto manga was definitely not "milking" it.
Boruto exists solely for the purpose of milking the series. So I guess thats what he implies.

The thing is Kimetsu just doesn't have that many volumes to boost. One Piece got to 32kk because it had like 60 volumes at that point. It's not impossible, but it's hard. Each volume would have to be way above 2kk, I think? And considering there's actually a chance the series will end before the year is over...

But well, on the other hand, I doubted Kimetsu sales potential before, and was obviously wrong. Maybe I shouldn't do it again.

Oh yeah. Most people tend to overlook that op had like 60+ volumes around that time.

Problem is that i dont remember a single comment arguing about this at the time pre S8 serialization, never saw someone saying "there was too much Kishimoto in the last years so i'm not excited for a new series", only now after months and months that i see some users bringing this.

While the original Naruto manga was definitely not "milking" it.

Thats a opinion but fact is Kodachi confirmed recently that Boruto were already planned even before the battle with Kaguya, so everything was planned long time ago with Kishi directly involved, not something out of nowhere just because Shueisha wants money.

Let's say we assume all 3 new kimetsu volumes reach 2mln and the 4th stops at like 1.5mln since it only has 2 weeks or so. That's already 7.5mln, which added to the sales it has right now pushes it to 20.5mln ish.

The 18 volumes currently on the market then "only" have to do about 850k each, which puts them around...2.3mln per volume I guess? Which isn't that much, again if we assume kimetsu can reach 2mln/volume.

Basically if you assume the kimetsu volumes can sell 500k more each before the movie, the movie only has to boost each volume 300k.

Possible? Definitely.
Likely? Well, it depends on how long you think the boost is going to go still. As far as we know the volumes instantly rise as soon as they are restocked and reprints are on the way so it does sound quite plausible to me.

And while yes, OP had a lot more volumes to boost, it was also selling a lot more on its own.

Kaguya arrival was chapter 679. So less than half year from the end of the main story. Naming the child "Boruto" which sounds very similar to the father's name was also a very obvious marketing move.

I guess you did not understand the reference to Naruto, the problem is that it was taken as a reference as one of those series that suffered a drastic drop in quality as regards the extension.

Actually Boruto name is a homage to Neji.

The meaning of Boruto is a homage to Neji and Minato. Give kishi some credit man. lol
