Why not, Mira retired from fighting. There is no reason as to why he can't give Mira a good fight in the first season.

You're not proving your reason. You said Gray can't give Mira a difficult fight, whether that be low,mid,or high. Why not. Gray was shown to be strong during the first season.

He really wasn't shown to be that strong.... He couldn't compare to an Erza level threat like Mira/Azuma and that's shown in the GMG.

GMG Gray after SO wasn't even as strong as Tenrou Erza lol. Tenrou Erza > Kagura > Leon >= Gray. How am I supposed to believe he can give Mira some diff when even after an exponential boost he is still weaker than basically BoS Erza?

That's GMG which is after he got boosted by SO. We are talking first season Gray which would be before the TS and he couldn't lol. Azuma was able to fodderize an enhanced Lily and Lily back then was as strong as Gajeel. Even Loke was stronger than Gray as Loke solo-ed a 7kin without Lucy's aid.

Yeah, Natsu during the first season was a lot stronger than Gray. He was able to take Gajeel on while weakened and Gajeel was stronger than Gray in the beginning. Natsu also has a ton of other feats like giving Laxus some diff, fighting Cobra who was stronger than Sorano and Sorano could easily copy Gray with Gemini. Gray also needed Leon's help to beat Sawyer.

Fought stronger opponents throughout the series and beaten stronger enemies. The only time they were near each other was at the end of Tartarus. Any other time Natsu was either holding back or Gray had stipulations to favor him.

Mystogan however has never once had a real fight. He only had a skirmish with Laxus which didn't go anywhere lol.
