Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Seeing Kimetsu continue selling like hot cakes makes me wonder when will demand be finally satisfied?

I'd think 1'800,000 per volume is when we will stop seeing these crazy numbers and demand will finally be satisfied, at least for now, maybe when the movie releases it will get a boost and get to around 2'000,000 per volume.

My reasoning is that:

1.- Shueisha decided to give volume 18 of Kimetsu No Yaiba a first printing of one million. (And that's not all, they made a second print run before even the first print was being sold! So Shueisha probably was a little super off here).

2.- As of now volume 1 has sold 1'708,000 -I took this info from the picture above my post- (All the other volumes hover around the 1'600,000-1'700,000 range.

3.- As noted in point #1 Shueisha printed 1 million volumes for volume 18, they either heavily underestimated demand OR they didn't have time/equipment to print the whole 1.7 mill+/- that demand for Kimetsu seems to have.
What I'm trying to say is that either Shueisha's analyst didn't predict that way more people than 1 million wanted KnY volume 18 OR (IMO the more likely scenario) that Sueisha couldn't fulfill the demand on time.

It's pretty safe to assume that whatever KnY's volume 19 first print run it will likely be very close to what the actual demand is unless Shueisha wants to continue "losing money" by not printing enough books to satisfy demand.

I guess, the tl,dr form of this post would be: What's your prediction for Kimetsu no Yaiba's volume 19 first print run?
Mine is 1.7 million.
I think 1.7 million is low for KNY at this point and it'll probably run out of stock if they go with that figure again. Remember, KNY's sales are very unusual, with new volumes selling just as much (even more than a some of them really) as all the previous ones in a short span of time. 2 million should be a safer bet on printing, but the demand might still be bigger than that. Unless they underprint the volume so they can make a big deal out of it once again.

I'd say 2M. Also I'm curious about the circulation numbers.
Can't wait to see those numbers when volume 19 gets released

No, lets just wait for when the volume is release and have actual numbers.

Possibly good news? the last similar cases that we had is Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man, both mangas that sold better than people expected, so maybe this means that Yozakura will do better than expected, or is just a bug in the site.

I think a standard first print for this case would be like 2 million, but I agree they probably will do like 1,5 and reprint as it goes.

Shueshia often underprints first volumes. I remember they had a super low print for MHA.
I think it's a marketing strategy. Having the first volumes out of stock will have people buzzing about how much it actually sold and its popularity.

You think Shueisha has any idea how much to print? Lol

Btw the charts guy, he stopped making them right? So where are those colorful bar charts coming from now? Where can we see the latest ones?

Okay, this unironically made me laugh.

This is possible, but, as someone who tracked the Amazon pages rankings for weeks, it never exactly got very high, often it was below Mitama. Admittedly, I don't know how Amazon's rankings actually work, but unless it was printed lower than normal (which raises the question of why), then I can't imagine it selling out like that, not with the fairly tepid response it seems to have gotten from Japanese readers from what I've observed.

They could have expected it to bomb and printed next to nothing, only for it to do better than expected, just not exceptionally well regardless.

That would be strange since they even gave a color page celebrating the "popularity" and it was doing nice in the rankings until the 4 cancelations, so there wasn't much signs of the manga being a big flop like the last series

Another fantastic week for Kimetsu, its looking more and more like Vol.19 will have a first print of 2 million copies not to mention outselling One Piece's latest volume, good to see SxF #2 crossing 500k, and HQ 41 still ahead of Vol. 40 by almost 40k and also still ahead of Vol.39, looks like it'll cross 440-450k first month

Either way I just hope we get the cover for Yozakura volume 1 soon, I want to see what it'll look like.

I can see Shueisha giving it a print of 1.5 million or less for the new volume, deliberately causing shortages is a genuine strategy companies do since if something's constantly running out of stock and needing more made, it makes it appear very popular. Nintendo uses that strategy a lot.

Honestly don't think Ufotable would be good for Chainsaw Man, I feel like their super polished look wouldn't be able to really capture Chainsaw Man's style.
Well, it's not always about the studio, but the staff, right? My wanting them is tantamount to me saying I want that level of success for CSM.

Let me dream. :(

I want David for CM so bad.
The JJBA studio?

Hmmn, that could be interesting. Really, at the end of the day, I just want a good studio for it.

Anyway, I'm still amazed at this level of success for KnY. I never thought I'd live to see another One Piece level event, but here we are.
