Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

Thats a very bad comparison, why would editors be claiming that a new manga with only 6 chapters and by a nobody is popular if is not? Will not be any surprise if at least the first chapters were received very well by Jump readers
if manga like yozakura, mitama and agravity boys sell equal to the first volume of samurai 8 it will be great.

After all, none of these respective authors has had a previous success as a kishimoto with Naruto.

Is there something I'm missing with Mashle that others are?
To have fun?

Doing a entire "analytical" comment about the humor as if it's something objective seems like just missing the entire point of a gag, to relax and have fun.

First chapter of Mashle wasn't as hilarious, as I hoped it would be. Idk, I kind of expected MC to have a stronger personality. I still really like the idea of a non-magic guy solving everything with muscles so I'll check the next few chapters for sure - hopefully it'll get funnier.

Undead had a great 2nd chapter. A good mixture of action and humour, really enjoying it so far.

Other new series: both Agravity and Zipman chapters were meh, nothing really interesting here. Not enjoying either of them, I might drop them in a few weeks.
Yozakura had a decent chapter and Mitama was really good (again).

The best one was definitly HQ for me, it's my favourite Jump series and the latest chapters are full of hype. Great stuff.

My top 5 this week:
1. HQ
2. CSM
3. Kimetsu
4. Undead
5. WNL

I didn't expect to like Mashle to such an extent. I thought it was really funny and had good pacing. It clearly resembles Harry Potter and Mob Psycho/OPM, but that's even more reason for me to dig it. Can't wait for chapter two.

Have to say, reading the latest Samurai 8 chapter, I'm getting the strong feeling the series is already on the chopping block. There's been some...really odd plot developments that kinda reek of that common habit of dealing out all the authors plans in the last chapters before cancellation.

Speaking of Samurai 8, it crossed 820k views surpassing Jujutsu Kaisen, this with only 35 chapters, some impressive numbers for a manga that "people don't care about" :super

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if the volumes end up selling pretty well in the US, Naruto is insanely huge even among non manga readers, if Viz plays their cards right it could still do well here. Of course, that's what was expected in Japan and that didn't happen, but who knows.

Though it’s pretty easy to boost M+ views, right?

Don't get the point, views are views, if we go by this route we can argue that every popular manga in the app only have high number of views because a supposed "boost", also, it's a legal app, so views means support for the author, which is something good.

we have proof of Boruto being exactly this due to comments at the time (it was discussed in last year's thread)

So? what this has anything to do with Samurai 8?

Also, what was proved? that fans like to re-read chapters of their favorite series and support the release?

It was One Piece that made me take notice, actually. At one point earlier in the poll, CSM was ahead by like 10 votes (IIRC), and stopped receiving new votes, whereas One Piece kept going up continuously.

I just thought it was odd that CSM could have such a commanding lead, and then One Piece received all those votes in just a few hours, with not a single one of those voters also voting for CSM.

But, as we can all see, now we know why. I'm not saying that it's weird that people would prefer One Piece to CSM, I just think there's a fair amount of cross voting that happens between the two series. Usually a fan of one will be a fan of the other, at least, with the regulars.
?????? I have voted for both OP and CSM for a few weeks now. Am I misunderstanding something?

It proves that view counts, just like internet polls, is as reliable as my government interest in human rights :derp .
If view counts are trustworthy enough to declare S8 is more popular than JJK, then Justin Bieber is sure to have more fan in North Korea than anywhere else.

Isn't that easy to understand? Buranchi suspected there was a conspiracy to make clone account to rig the poll, for example, make a lot of account to only vote for One Piece, based on the fact that there was a surge of votes for One Piece without voting for CSM at the same time. I don't know how I can explain this any simpler.

that it's possible, easy and has been done before. Both are Kishi series (or at least related to).
I was in the thread during the discussion, the only thing was proved was that Boruto fans like to re-read the last chapters some days before the new release, which also happens a lot with Dragon Ball Super too

This talk really doesn't make sense, Samurai 8 is clearly very popular in the app from the beginning, trying to imply a "boost" just seems a tentative of downplay the series (not really talking about you)

I probably didn't read it properly. I'm all tired and sleepy 😴🤣
