I don’t like like bringing up my personal life on forums, but as an illustrator and story writer myself I feel like some don’t really understand how hard creating your own story and planning a manga/comic is.
I know most don’t mean harm. But I’m pretty sure damn near every axed Creator in Jump puts tons of planning and and effort into their series.
It’s just difficult to successfully execute what you’ve planned sometimes.
Just don’t like when people refer to mangaka being “lazy”. Like, even if you don’t like Yozakura, just flipping through the art and panels you can see how much work put in their. I’ve spent hours and sleepless nights putting together just 3 comic pages, sketched and inked. I couldn’t even fathom pushing out 17 page chapters every week, and don’t know how they do it. Who cares if he chooses to reuse some old art for the cover
I also don't like bringing up my personal life on here.
I am a published writer (non-fiction). However, I've written and directed my own plays as well.
I've been told I can be extra critical of fellow creators, however I find it to be a matter of artistic competence and integrity. Especially if you know there's a chance that you could be serialized in this magazine for up to a decade yet you only plan the first handful of chapters.
Not to mention this is his second series, and he's shown absolutely no growth (arguably regressed).
Also, I've been reading Jump long enough to see countless series that clearly weren't very well planned. Plus we even have statements from Jump mangaka like Yasuhiro who openly said he didn't really plan out Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa which led him choosing to end the series after less than a year despite some popularity. If a vet didn't properly plan, then why do we expect rookies, or second chance rookies to have always properly planned either when it clearly isn't a requirement (only having the first few chapters is) to be serialized.
And again, my issue is not with re purposing art. There's plenty of reasons an artist would do that.
