Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

The Promised Neverland definitely. Give it to Del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy).
Death Note desperately needs a remake at some point. It's western live action movie was one of the worst and most baffling adaptations I've ever seen.

I'm sure My Hero Academia will get one eventually.
Didn’t Legendary Pictures say that they planned to a do live action Hollywood My Hero Academia film a while back?

I mean, it was somewhat a success. However it was pretty much in the bottom for most of its run.
Yeah, Jump had tons of decade long runners going at the time, but the series despite its quality only managed to survive by having other new series do worse than it and get cancelled. Its future during its serialization was always on shaky ground.

Not gonna lie,
I unironcally find Dragon Ball Evolution kind of fun, but I'm a big fan of trashy movies.

Speaking of really bizarre trashy western adaptations of Jump manga.
This exists.

LOL, this is basically me imitating kenshiro as a kid with a bit of after effect

This is slightly off-topic, but I need some input. A fellow staff member created my latest avatar and signature, but I want to make sure it's showing up okay for everyone. On mobile it looks fine.

Edit: I mean in terms of proportion/scale, etc.

This exists.
It isn't really western (as it was a Hong Kong movie), nor is it from an WSJ manga, but the live action film adaptation to Riki Oh was insane. Fun as hell.

Facinating info, but what's the source of this?

That Uzusaki is only 22 is still incredible to me.

Also, Fujimoto was only 23 or so when he started Fire Punch? Damn.

I honestly don't know what their plan was with Death Note. They literally just had to follow the same script as the manga with some tweaks but nah.

If MHA should get one, it should be now. The popularity wont go up anymore.

Also let's not forget, there is a Naruto live action being made.
Anyone knows what's happening with that?
Stuck in hell development. It isnt unusual that some properties that were announced to have a LA adaptation stay stuck in pre-production for years. Just as an example, SEGA considered a LA movie of Sonic after the great success that was the videogame and wanted to do it on its popularity peak, thats was on the 90s, and after a lot of production companies just passing on the project Paramount decided to do it and begun production on 2018. Almost 30 years pass on to see the LA come in fruition.

So i dont think we should expect this projects in a near future because they are considered a more risky project to the movie/tv industry even if the popularity is there.

Was not expecting YOU to say that.

Reminds me of the supposed WB Bleach movie that was announced but never made. I cannot imagine how they could ever pull off a Naruto movie in the first place.
This One Piece live action series is gonna be interesting to watch.

Did we get a release date for it?

The veteran author is most likely Kubo. Act Age mangaka and editor are huge fans. Didn't Kubo also recently mention he enjoys Act Age? Or am I making assumptions?
Maybe also Ashihara from World Trigger, considering the AA-artist loves that series, and he did a lot of shoutouts and collabs in the past already.

Would Psyren do better or worse now?
Almost certainly better. I remember loving it back when it ran, but apparently it just didn't fit the zeitgeist back in the day, which would most likely be very different today..
WSJ barely promoting it didn't help either. In the 3 years it ran, it got zero CoverPages after the launch, afair, and just got canned during its final arc, despite being close to a solid ending anyway. I feel like the medium of manga really missed out there.

Kagamimagi was more generic but I also liked it. I feel like it suffered from having a very uninteresting male lead and early pacing issues. Still a shame it didn't take off, though.

Psyren is probably the luckiest manga to survive in WSJ ever. I didn't think it got cancelled though? The ending was rushed but it was right near the end anyway so

Question to Psyren fans, would you consider it part of Jump's "canon" of manga?
