Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Poro is pretty bad.
Has the same problem Yozakura had where it had this neat premise but did nothing with it.
It at least doesn't have the problem with having a massive cast who don't matter, but it's still bland nothingness for the most part.
Plus, the MC literally looks like a Deku fanart.
Thank you for the opinion! Though I should've been clearer, I actually meant Mizore-chan. xD From what I read of Poro, I thought it was alright, though it's been years since then.

I feel Yozakura selling out is an artificial popularity tactic I discussed earlier.
Jump for some reason wants this to be a success so they put out a ridiculously small first print so that it will sell out and people will then think it's way more popular than it is when they can't find it.
It worked for MHA,, however Yozakura doesn't have even a shred of its quality. I expect this move to not work out.
They’ve been placing it near the bottom of the TOC for quite some time now. I don’t really see any signs that suggests that they’re actively trying to force it to be a hit

True, but they also gave it a another color page past the first two chapters.

Shoseki Daily Ranking - 2/5

Jump Volumes

#1 Kimetsu no Yaiba 19
#2 Dr. Stone 14
#3 Act-age 10
#28 Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san
#60 Mission: Yozakura Family 1
#96 Mitame Secureity 1
#108 Kamio Yui wa Kami wo Yui
Wow, Mitama dropped hard while Yozakura hold quite well, from 40 to 60, this is quite ironic considering Jump did basically nothing for Yozakura but it seems like is selling quite better than Mitama that is being pushed by the editorial.

What number would it be? 100k?
Much more than that, the OP last one had 80k, Yaiba it's in the top of popularity now, fans, specially fangirls will be voting in hordes for their favorites

Feels weird to see Mitama performing worse, as happy as I am with Yozakura, I would hope they'd be at least on par.

True, but they also gave it a another color page past the first two chapters.
I mean, if it’s genuinely selling well due to it having a genuine fanbase it’s quite possible that the reception was at a point where it was doing moderate enough for a color page, but still not well enough to exactly determain it’s popularity.
People can only vote for 3 series, but I’m pretty sure a lot of readers read way more than 3 series. There’s always that possibility that it was placing low simply because it has fans, but it’s nobody’s top 3 series. Maybe like top 5 or 6 for some ppl.

Either way, even if it was purposely undershipped, if it ends up selling 10K-20K that’s way more than most of last years newbies. And there’s no way Jump could have pulled those random buyer’s out of their behind. So it would still reflect its popularity

I don't know if it's the one with the highest amount of votes, but DBZ's first popularity poll had 156k votes for the top 5 only, if it manges to go beyond that then that would be wild.

Also, remembering the top 5 characters with most votes in popularity polls in WSJ's history.

#1 Son Gohan - 51,921 (First Popularity Poll - 1993)
#2 Son Goku - 48,256 (First Popularity Poll - 1993)
#3 Trunks - 29,627 (First Popularity Poll - 1993)
#4 Bakugou Katsuki - 22,826 (Fifth Popularity Poll - 2019)
#5 Hatake Kakashi - 22,692 (First Popularity Poll - 2001)

Just pointing out, vol 4 of Kamio Yui is actually charting a bit better than vol 3 if you count the positions, vol 3 first day was at 64th while vol 4 at 60th and in the second day vol 3 was at 114th while vol 4 is at 108th

Overall it is keeping the same level of sales, which is honestly surprising since the last volume of canceled series always chart quite worse than the first volumes, seems like Yui has a small but loyal fanbase :super

Perhaps its due to low stock? It did seem like the print number was small...

Also, can someone check Act-Age's Vol 1 Shoseki numbers, just for comparison?
