Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

I vote in it but yeah, 5 is too much, and doesn't match wsj which was part of the fun of the idea for me. When there's 3 series there's usually a couple obvious top chapters of the week, then the 3rd is a harder choice I need to think about. But with 5 options I just end up shoving the usual favourites in each week instead of having to consider which had the best chapter. The fun of narrowing down the best and comparing chapters isn't really there any more.

The lack of being able to actually talk about why some series did better is probably part of it too, what's the point of a poll if you can't really talk about the poll?

Honestly maybe we need a general current spoilers for all wsj manga thread if we want to compare chapters properly (not just for this poll it'd be useful in general), one linked in the stickied post with the poll perhaps to make it convenient to get to.
The entire poll dont match Shonen Jump, here things are a direct reflection of votes, we know the votes, the toc dont even reflect who had the most or less votes, its a collection of things considered.

The 5 votes is made to allow few more choices for who read many or almost the entire magazine, also to make the polls more diverse since voting only on 3 will make people do exactly what you're saying, vote in the same locked series since they will not want to see their favorite series potentially in the bottom.

But after Buranchi started to discount the votes, going back to 3 would probably cause a big negative impact, even with 5 votes the overall number of votes the top 5 gets is already low compared to before because the excluded votes, with only 3 the numbers would drop even more.

About the discussion thing i agree that could at least be more flexible

I don't think I've ever used all five votes. I vote for the chapters that stood out to me that week, and there usually aren't that many of those.

If nothing stood out, I don't vote.

I only voted once (the first poll) and my votes would be only KnY, bc and bnha since they are the only ones I read. So for me, it's pointless to vote the same three every week.
You could choose only one of them every week and vote for

Ten days is not two weeks.
Does it really matter, though? It lasted 5 days for one Shoseki week and another 5 days for a second Shoseki week. It might as well be two weeks, since it’ll most likely chart for a second week.

Also we already know is getting a reprint, so it probably dropped out for lack of copies available

Stock issues are definitely going to be a factor, but also keep in mind that in the past 3 days hundreds of new volumes went on sale in Japan with nearly 100 new volumes appearing in Shoseki's top 500, it was bound to fall out considering it released on the 4th (Even half of MHA/HQ's backlog dropped out of the top 500 cause of all the new volume releases)

Yozakura is fine :derp

I like voting every week, but I'd like it even more if we could openly talk about each series plotpoints, as several have said before

...seriously? Now a few things, such as all the ping-ponging, make sense in hindsight...

And lemme guess, outof thehundred new volume releases, a large majority of them aren't able to make much of a dent in KImetsu's iron wall.

Can you clarify why the sale is happening?

This happens every month so it isn't anything new tbf, Jump tends to release its volumes on the 4th of every month, while WSM usually releases on the 17th, and other magazines release volumes about every other day, but it also doesn't help that tons of series have over 10 volumes of backlog appearing every day, another reason why its harder for new series to stay in the top 500

From 2/10 - 2/14, 114 new volumes appeared in the top 500 lol

So, here's a question to liven up the thread; Are you guys satisfied with Jump's current direction?
