I know you might be joking, but I doubt that many people would go through the trouble of importing volumes in a language they can't understand (assuming that Eyepatch's audience doesn't understand Japanese).

You're right about the volume sales, but it does appear that, at least on Reddit and similar places, the video has increased the fanbase.

Sure, but I mean, I saw an influx of users state they're finally reading the series because of the recommendation in that video.

So, little fun fact, Yuki Tabata specifically says that, with Hungry Joker, he feels the reason the series failed to garner an audience was because of the characterization of main protagonist Heiji, who was extremely cold and emotionally disconnected from the situation. Tabata feels that kind of protagonist made it too difficult for readers to attach themselves to the story, hence why Asta was made to be so loud.

I'm mentioning this because, looking at Mashle, I kinda suspect the same thing might happen. Japanese audiences might simply not take to a protagonist who acts completely stoic and deadpan about everything.

That's not why HJ failed to catch on. The MC was the least of its issues.

So the person who was rumoured to direct JJK anime (Park Seongho) is working on a different show that just got announced. It is a really awkward situation if JJK is actually being made by MAPPA because it would mean both shows would be produced at the same time and JJK would be on the losing end since the better staff would most probably not go to JJK. Not to mention the fact that, not counting JJK, MAPPA is making 5 new series. We can only cross our fingers now.

You’re right, actually. (Crunchyroll really just announced a bunch of webtoon adaptations and original anime). What are the 5 new series they’re doing? Geez, that’s getting as bad as J.C. Staff last year.

We’ll see how many more Reddit upvotes Chainsawman gets over the coming chapters. Currently it sits between One Piece and HeroAca, and is the third most popular currently running WSJ manga behind MHA and KNY.

Listeners (original series), Love and Producer (visual novel) and God of Highschool (webtoon) and they are still working on Yuri on Ice: Ice Adolescence and Zombieland Saga S2 is probably under works already.

It hasn't been confirmed yeah, that's why I said "if" it's not actually MAPPA. It's my last glimpse of hope.

While not confirmed, The anime visual released is undoubtedly done by Tadashi Hiramatsu whose style is very recognizable and He said he joined Mappa as an employee in his blog during new year.

I found 4 series and a movie: Listeners (April 2020), Mr Love: Queen's Choice, God of High School, Yasuke (ONA), and the Yuri on Ice movie.

Oh man. I already wasn't sure of how much traction the anime would be able to get with the first few arcs, but if it gets shafted like this I'll be very sad.
