Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

All this discussion is making me think is that harem might be an inherently flawed genre on some level.
Harem isn't a genre though, it's just a number of romantic interests. It's a romcom and it's no coincidence that all of them are called lovcom in there instead of harem.

Subgenre, then.

Neither. Never saw it being called like that in JP, just as a romcom like the others.
So.. isekai isnt a genre/subgenres either?:hearts

Hmm. So apparently he's going to do full, actual arcs for each girl in the What if...stuff, starting from the climax of the Fireworks arc. That's...kind of far back, isn't it? We could be looking at quite a bit more We Neve Learn, depending on how he chooses to pace it. We really are getting full visual novel-esque alternate routes. That's kind of cool, actually.

So, officially WnL ended at 150 and now it's the secret endings.

btw, literally route end 1/5. I love it. How that was never done in manga before. XD
Okay, I kind of love this now, too. But that begs the question...will all the other routes be as long as Uruka's was after that point? We'd be looking at literally years more of WNL. Although, at the same time, he said in his author comment that it would go for a little while longer. And a little while longer usually doesn't mean years unless you're Oda or Togashi, so I'm a little confused.

My guess is that it’ll be more than just 1 volume more, but not substantially longer

That's a good point. He wouldn't "waste" time going over, like, Valentine's and the exams and all that that the girls were all involved in, so it'll probably just be a few more big scenes with each girl that kind of skip through the timeline a bit, or even potentially end sooner (or later) in-universe than route 1.

I dont know wheter i should respect that shameless sincerity or disrespect him for being too much of a coward to go with one definitive ending. At this point i just think he should have made a visual novel if he doesn't have the confidence to pull off one compelling route. Unless he turns it into a complete meaningful ending with one genius trick at the end (which i doubt) he is just failing at the medium.

I like it, but then again, I also like visual novels. Don't see why he shouldn't do this. I like all the girls in the series and I think they all have good chemistry with the MC, so utilizing this in this kind of fashion is plenty fine with me.

I wonder why the hell are we all implying he didnt have all of this planned and Jump said: let's go with it. Why is it so bad? How is it coward? How is it not the author just doing what he wants to do? Writing the story, situations, panels and moments he really wants to write and draw? This is not about audience anymore, this is about what Tsutsui honestly wants to make with his story. And I think the fact that he's being able to do what he wants is amazing, so props to him and I'll gladly enjoy the ride until the end.
