Damn, Act-Age must've had a seriously amazing chapter if it beat out HeroAca this week. I'm really gonna have to get around to reading the manga soon. As for HeroAca, this is what happens when a cool minor character with potential actually gets screentime and begins to live up to it. Bonus points for being a female character as well!

We Never Learn's position is going to be interesting come these next few weeks. Depending on how long these alternate routes last and how well they're done, it's position can either maintain it's high position or potentially fall drastically. (Also, if each of the alternate ends are 9 chapters long like Uruka's, then We Never Learn somehow found a way to extend itself into 2021. Wait... these alternate ends would have to be as long or as substantial as the Uruka route, otherwise everyone'll still think of Uruka's route as the canon one, which doesn't seem to be what the author's going for.)

As for the newbies...I guess 4 or 5 out of 8 ain't bad. Seems people are giving up on Guardian of the Witch, though, if it's going down to ZIPMAN's level.
I don't think it's going to end in 2021. More like in 2020 even if he does 9-10 chapters. But I don't think it'll be that long.

At best, I suspect Tsutsui will only get 2-3 more volumes out the series, which put it ending around the end of the year.

Does anybody know S8's vol. 1 Amazon (US) Preorder numbers and Day 1 sales in US?
It's doing great in the US, literally everywhere else it's doing amazing, except for Japan so that's why it's ending in Another 3 chapters with Vol 5's release date out. Probably the final volume

Another week, another 1st place for Act-age in Twitter Japan poll

Is amazing how that poll has a lot of similarities with the MH poll. And in both of them, Guardian of the Witch is more dead than Zipman

being welcomed on twitter doesn't mean much.
Mitama is better accepted than Yozakura on Twitter and still sells less than Yozakura.
Agravity boys is well accepted on Twitter but so far it's bottom, even though it has gained extra pages (as well as Undead unluck and Guardian of the witch).

At this point, I just think the editorial department is giving extra pages or high exposition to as many newbies as they can so at least one of them sticks in the magazine and they can move into different genres serializations. Even if the reception is not amazing, I guess if they have hope or see potential in something, we'll see more and more series getting better treatments. I mean, it's not a huge push, but it's at least something. Whether it works or not later on, that solely depends on series' quality.

Isn't that basically mandatory though? Every new series from since way back always gets extra pages to promote them and see what sticks. I don't see any difference between now and then.

Yeah, if they are going to let series run for 20 or more chapters either way, as with the recent failures, and they don't have any real successes right now, they might as well try something to help them grow or maybe bounce back. Maybe it can, idk, make readers that read the first chapter and didn't care for it come back and realize they enjoyed it now or more than they expected.

I'd like some proof for the "it's doing great in the US, literally everywhere else its doing amazing" bit.

Also, is it confirmed (story-wise) that it's ending in 3 chapters and not just the end of an arc or something?

that part is probably based on MangaDex IDs only having 3 more spots for it (while every other series got 4) even though there was a convo here right when that was discovered how it could just be it taking a week off at some point in the next 4 weeks

About it's sales in US, from my personal experience and my pals , in Boston 's noble and Barnes when went to buy the volumes the entire area was empty with only 3-7 copies lying and when asked the lady at that counter she said S8 got rapidly sold and now they've reordered more and keep in mind it was just the 2nd day . Not to mention that all over America in our GC people have claimed that S8 is selling well and in many places they are reordering it because of it getting out of stock constantly. This is my personal experience, also in Amazon US the first 2-3 days it had ranked 5th best seller.
Also in countries like Germany France Europe etc they have all sold well, I believe in Germany or France maybe they had sold 70K copies in just the first two days and got out of stock in just 5 days, which is why they issued premiered versions of the volumes and even battery chargers of S8, just recently maybe a few days back, a French user said that now it has sold over 150k copies. Other countries also have sold heavily like they always come in top 15 best sellers in those countries not to mention the people there loving it greatly.

Not confirmed if it's ending or not, but people all over the Twitter are saying so, also this latest volume 5 might cover upto ch 43 . So maybe S8 will be replaced by Kubo's new project

In spain it was released the first volume at 3 euros(2nd one is at 7 ) and was the most sold manga.... In the editorial's stand during a convetion in barcelona(the only thing i find about spanish sales).
About other european sales i only found a topeditorial manga releases in france? And nothing more, except people saying it sells well.

About the 2nd para I've seen some people on Twitter sending files or something relating to the sales of various series, there I've seen S8 always being within top 10-15

The US stuff is anedoctal and not evidence by any stretch of imagination.

It didn't sell anywhere near that much in France. There was a chart of big sellers for 2019 and no S8 volume was even above 45k. It didn't even chart super high in france, it did well but those numbers are literally pulled from nowhere. Volume 1 debuted 10th in the december-january chart for France, volume 2 18th which is below all known well selling mangas and several backlog volumes of Kimetsu ( https://www.canalbd.net/canal-bd_ca...Les-Meilleures-Ventes-CANAL-BD-Semaine-2--196 ).

Germany is not even a big market at all.

I might be off here but I feel like North Americans might have a decent chunk of people in the camp that watched Toonami (with Naruto) growing up but never really got into anime/manga past that and see Samurai 8 in a store with "from the creator of Naruto" and pick up volume 1 just based on nostalgia for Naruto so I'm not sure if volume 1's sales are that important in the US. It would be like making the assumption of its popularity based on how the views for the first week were on Manga+.

US was from my experience.

Let me check if it was France or some other country that sold that much cause I remember it selling that much just that confused with the country stuff.

I've seen good reviews from Germany never sure if it's not big market or anything
