So right now in the magazine, we have Miitama, Mashle, Aggravity Boys and maybe Undead x Unluck as gag manga, right?? Are these all gag/comedy manga? I'm in the mood to read some gag mangal lol so which would you recommend? It doesn't even need to be from the current lineup, also don't recommend Gintama as I'm already planning on watching it some time in the near future :)

Edit: also any gag manga that is in mangaplus would work for me too even if not from WSJ.
Seikimatsu Leader Den Takeshi!

It's still in the process of being translated but the first wide-ban is translated with the second one being almost done. I highly recommend it, especially if you want something more goofy/over the top.

Takeshi is such a charismatic MC and he's much better MC than Toriko from reading the first wide-ban. Plus the goal of wanting to become a leader is unique and allows for great character moments. I see potential in it and the fight at the first wide-ban was so good. The characters are definitely better written than the character's in Toriko overall so far.

There's a nice blog/review about Seikimatsu Leader Den Takeshi! here. A good read if you want to know more about it.

Gonna give it a read too, thanks for the suggestion Tamil :D I just now remembered Bobobo (Takeshi being from the same-ish era, even though they probably never ran together) I'm gonna go look for Bobobo too.

They did run together since Bobobo started in 2001. I was actually gonna say check out Takeshi if you've checked out bobobo. Both are great comedy series.

Which series do you guys think would still be around when One Piece ends?
Assuming it goes for another 5 years(ish), I think My hero, JJK, yozakura (if it survives this year), and UxU (could reasonably do 250 chapters).
If black clover has a resurrection during this spade arc then mabye it too.
Otherwise everything seems to be ending or in a planned out concise route (can't see chainsaw man, dr. Stone and act age go for 350+ chapters lol, so far they've been [IMO] tight and concise)

Try to stick with Mitama for a while. Judging that series by it's first chapter isn't really fair considering that the series gets better once we get past the first 2 or 3 chapters.
Yeah the first chapter threw me off. It sets up spirit battles (with a horrifying looking spirit ) but then never goes back to it. At first I didn't even think it was a gag manga, more in line with something like UxU. I'm really glad it went the route it did, spirit antics are heartwarming and hilarious!

And Chrollo recommends the latter.

Jujutsu, who sold 96k in two days last time, can't even crack the wall. Even the artbook is above 50k.

Uhhhh...ok.

Mitama shows no improvement at all, so sad about this. S8 also seems more or less the same as the others.

I want to think that's because of the epidemic. But let's see tonight how everyone did over the weekend.

Rest of top 100
This is actually the first week rankings, not the daily ones: http://shosekiranking.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-3003.html

So, according to Shoseki estimates, some interesting tidbits:
-Chainsawman sold at least 50k first week, which is nice.
-Fucking Team Up Mission also sold about 35-40k first week, which is also cool! It'll be really interesting to see the sales trajectory of future volumes.
-Samurai 8 continues it's decline, not managing to sell 20k first week, unlike Volume 1 (I think, I'm not sure, I'll have to check the other volumes).
-Dosanko Gyaru and Mato Seihei sold about 10k, I hope that's good enough to survive. I want them to live and be stable, damnit.
-SSSS.Gridman might've come out a bit too late.
-Still unsure if Heart Gear's gonna live or not. The Sign of Abyss seems to be toast though.

EDIT: I can't read today. Why did I say Dosanko and Mato Seihei sold above 20k when they ranked below Samurai 8.
EDIT2: I think Samurai 8 might be stable or in slight decline, after seeing the first and second week numbers and comparing them to the rough Shoseki estimates. I don't think the sales are increasing though, which is a bad sign.

Also check out "It's Time for Torture, Princess" if you haven't yet. Very cute and funny.

Ah, thank you! So it sold 20k in two weeks. That's...worse than I thought - I was convinced it sold 20k in a week before. Considering this was a 5 day week, I think Samurai 8 might be stable? It's not increasing, but it seems to be on par with the first two volumes.

Putting aside Shoseki estimations between Rank 50 and 100 are relative as hell and they're usually higher than the actual number, we're talking about Volume 4 doing the same +2.000 copies (estimations) in double the time compared to Vols 1 and 2 (actual copies). It kinda depends on what will it do next week, but no, it's not really holding.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

I should also add this.

To sum up my conclusions, S8 usually has some good first days (knowing first three volumes are around 2-3 days first week, their second weeks play a big role) but then it drops like a rock.

This, but I would add that even if it was holding at like 10k week1 it wouldn't exactly be a good thing. Even Act-Age and Kimetsu, which had the roughest debuts out of those that are alive right now, were doing much better by volume 4 (both AA and Kimetsu were doing >20k in 3 days with volume 4).

And, of course, it bares all this stated that S8 is from Masashi Kishimoto, literally one of the most famous mangaka alive. For his followup to even double this would be by all standards a disappointment.

Thank you for correcting me with all this! So I was right with my initial perception after all. Kind of a shame, since the manga does have passionate fans.
