Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

TPN has been on top of MHA every single day this week IIRC, might actually beat it in total sales for the volume
It will probably be neck and neck. MHA had 20k advantage last week and while TPN was ahead in Shoseki and Honto this past week, MHA was ahead in Tsutaya.

Fujimoto comment on Chainsaw man placed in 8th position in Manga Taishou

It’s look like he’s shitting on S8 this week but the joke is,
he reuse his comment from Fire Punch that also 8th position lol.

Are we sure Jujutsus anime announcement was real and we didn't all collectively imagine it?
The mythical jujutsu anime is actually a very recent example of mandela effect and we all got bamboozle'd

Waking up to another Yozakura reprint, you love to see it.

Also notice that the final Blue Flag volume has been given a release date, sad to see the series go but really hope we get an anime announcement, maybe on the wrap for the final volume.

Jigokuraku is #40
Also has 4 volumes of backlog charting between 400-500
Anyone remember the ranking for 8 to see if 9 is doing better or worse?

8 was #52 in its second week but don't take shoseki at face value, wait for oricon numbers to drop since it should chart no problem

Also since you guys seem interested you can look for jigokuraku with 地獄楽

Question for everyone.

Which series do you think will be the next to receive an all color chapter?
I'm basically on mandatory vacations until May, so time for a long ass post lol.

So people are saying Kimetsu No Yaiba should receive a color chapter, and I mean it could happen.. I guess maybe, but then again super popular authors like Togashi or Watsuki never got one.. (I think? I'm too lazy to check any of those particular author's series as I don't have the kanzenbans nor any Jump issues with cp of them.. I should say Color Pages lol, writting CP and Watsuki in the same sentence could lead to misunderstandings in context/meaning.)

Anyways, Out of the top of my head, and I might be forgetting some series:

Endings:
-Ring Ni Kakero.
-Slam Dunk.
-Dragon Ball.

These 3 had their entire endings with Color Pages + Bichrome.

-Pyu To Fuku! Jaguar.
Last chapter was in Bichrome. (You can click here but it will spoil you the ending of Jaguar! You have been warned!! Not.. Not really lol, just click the link, you probably weren't going to read a 400+ gag manga that hasn't even been fully scanlated yet anyways)

-Naruto:
Last chapter is entirely in color (as in no Bichrome, real full color, sadly it looks digitally colored I think, I would have love to see Kishimoto's copic coloring style).

Not endings:
-Bleach
-Eyeshield 21
-Prince of Tennis

All these 3 series received Full color entire chapters (No bichromes) in argueably their "climaxes", or the climax of certain arcs, I remember Bleach was the Ichigo vs Byakuya battle, and PoT was a match against Hyotei (which was/is the most loved tennis club in the series, after Seigaku of course.. Though Atobe is probably the most liked character.. who knows, but he's certainly given the most Giri Choco every year

I'm not sure about Kochikame, but I'm almost positive it didn't get a full color page ending?

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Now, the thing is that Full Color chapters aren't as rare as most would assume.
What was and still is pretty rare is a series ending with full colored chapters (Be it Full Color+ Bichrome, like the first 3 I mentioned/ Just Bichrome, like Jaguar/ Just Full Color, like Naruto).
But color chapters were quite frequent before the 90s, just not Full Color chapters, more like 3 Full Color pages and then 15+ pages of Bichrome pages.

Just looking thru some old WSJs of mine and the Saint Seiya Kanzenbans I saw that some but not every chapter that got a color page during the 80s was the entire chapter.

For example in the 1986 Issue 1-2, which was the Saint Seiya debut

the entire first chapter is colored (3 Full Color pages, the rest is bichrome), now remember this was the debut of a series by veteran author Masami Kurumada the very same author whose last series Ring Ni Kakero was the first ever series in Jump to receive a full color ending, so probably Saint Seiya got special treatment, I don't think every Jump series had a full color first chapter pre 90s.

Issue 38 of 1989 (which I bought because it's my literal birth date, now you know how old I am)

has an entire full color chapter of Jojo but the next series after Jojo (Which was front series) is the Momotaroh, which only had like 7 Bichrome pages and the rest was normal black and white.

Also.. I'm pretty sure Dragon Ball had some full color chapters too, it had plenty of Full Color+Bichrome, but I also distinctly remember some chapters being full colored.

After the 90s bichrome was less and less used, I can remember for example that the first chapter of One Piece has bichrome pages, Hunter x Hunter's first chapter too BUT series like Shaman King which also debuted in 1998 or Naruto (1999) didn't have bichrome in the first chapter, so it seems like the use of bichrome pages for manga started to decline or ended in 1998.

But bichrome never entirely left the pages of Jump, it is still used to this day, mostly in advertisement pages.. I can't really remember the last time a manga actually had bichrome pages in Jump though it was probably Jaguar.. Idk.

All that being said It'd be cool for Kimetsu no Yaiba to get a full color ending, I don't think it should get one if series like BLEACH or Kochikame didn't get one (I know it has sold more than those series per volume) but I think if Gotouge is cool with the extra workload the final chapter in full color would be a great final publicity stun (like the series needed it lol).

Why do you guys think that the Promised Neverland always seems to have "stronger legs" than MHA or even Haikyu sometimes?
I've noticed this a couple times that in its FW it might be < one or both of those series but it always seems to do better afterwards?

Was Jaguar the last thing in WSJ to get the part-color thing? (パートカラー being the japanese term for this type of coloring fyi). It know they were abundant in the 80's and early to mid 90's, but they seemed to fall off by the late 90's. The last time Jojo used this coloring seemed to be chapter 589/590, which came out in 1999. I don't think that Part 6 and onwards used this type of coloring.
(It's nice that the Viz hardcovers use this coloring in the chapters that had it)

Also, are these your own WSJ issues? If you're up to it, you should try scanning them for preservations sake. I know that for a lot of series, the WSJ release is the only place where you can see the color pages and whatnot. I also know that Jojo had a couple of little differences between the WSJ version and the Tankobon versions.

パートカラー So "part color" is the term they use? I didn't know that was the Japanese term, I googled it and didn't get any bichrome color results.

Yeah, these are my issues but there would be no point in me scanning them since the couple of old issues I have are of series who already have their colored pages available if you know where to look for them (Since they have been re-released in Kanzenban which include the color pages).

Then there are some other Jump issues I have from like the 90s, strangely enough I have a couple of debut issues like Eyeshield 21 and BLEACH (It's not like I was actively looking for them, I just got lucky and bought them off eBay for pretty cheap, like $10ish dollars for like 20 WSJ issues).

So.. Also Eyeshield 21 first chapter Edited Manga has the color pages, pretty sure BLEACH does too, that leaves us with the unknown series with color pages in the Jump issues I have, which no one would see because they are unknown series that got canceled in 9 weeks like 90% of series that ran in JUMP did.

Believe me, if I had issues with color pages of series like Ring Ni Kakero, Video Girl Ai, Ichigo 100%, Dai No Daiboken, Hell Teacher Nube, Yu-Gi-Oh! (Basically popular series without a Kanzenban release -that includes the color pages-) I would probably scan them for others to see, sadly I don't.

For all the other series they either have their color pages on the internet already or the Kanzenban RAWs or something so if people want those color pages they just need to look for them.

(though I could take photos using an app like Office Lens which basically makes photos almost look like scans).

EDIT: As for the question of Jaguar being the last manga to have Bichrome coloring, I don't really know but the issue in question is this one
Issue 38 of 2010... So almost 10 years ago, and funnily enough Jaguar is the last manga in that issue (Jaguar was always the last manga in the magazine).

If Kochikame didn't use bichrome pages after 2010, I don't think any other manga did.

Or maybe a gag manga.. Like Gintama, I could totally see Gintama using bichrome pages as a sort of "gag".. But all the other series pretty much only have "normal" color pages nowadays.

I would assume different demographics? Perhaps TPN is bought by a wider demographic than MHA or Haikyu, perhaps older people that don't necessarily buy it the first day it is released? That's just my theory..

A google search for 少年ジャンプ パートカラー seemed to work for me.

I'm dumb haha I just googled "パートカラー" (part color) insted of "少年ジャンプ パートカラー " (Weekly Shonen Jump part color).

Edit: Or maybe I could do something like this

I mean that's kinda cool, haha and I already have some issues so might as well give it a try, maybe I'll open an instagram and let you guys know.
