Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Do you guys see a chance for Hitman Reborn or Toriko to also get anime continuation of their manga adaptations in the future?

I don't even remember in what part of Toriko manga did the anime stop.
Toriko is a nope. It was a big enough failure that Toei had to revive another failure, DBZKai, to take it's slot. At best we'll get a Toriko sequel manga someday.

Reborn is a possibility especially with 00s nostalgia being a potential thing to exploit what with the Digimon Adventure reboot airing next month and of course there was that art gallery from years back with new animated footage but given how poorly received DGrayman Hollow was they'll more than likely push a new adaptation.

After Bleach I am not surprised at all.

However, Toriko perhaps, Reborn is more difficult, because the study that dealt with it has failed.

I don't see Shimabu doing a sequel to Toriko, honestly. That last chapter was basically him giving the finger to the whole situation.

He essentially revealed all the future plans he had for the series prematurely. There's really nothing left to reveal.

I mean, he could delve more into the Gourmet Gods stuff, or try to awaken Toriko's full strength (since Toriko only reached 1/3rd of his full potential), but I'm not sure if that alone is worthy of a sequel.

I don't know, maybe Shimabu has more plans for it, but he did say in one of Toriko's volumes that Build King was his passion project.

He wants to do architecture.

I wonder when will Shimabukuro come back anyways. Build King was like from early 2018.

Jump could be cycling through Veterans at this point.

Maybe Shimabu is next?

I don't know that 50th anniversary illustration does scream sequel vibes or at least extended epilogue. I want to believe the series will get something just not another anime.

What a morning to wake up to, Sam 8 is gone, Bleach is back, Burn the Witch getting a short serialization and anime, plus the TOC. Witch Guardian did pretty good, but as always the next weeks are very important. Mash is very high, which is nice, but it's also my least favorite of the three gag series. Mitama is low, (at least on top of the other bottom dwellers) but now is getting a CP next issue? I don't know what to think anymore. UxU has another solid ranking, while Zipman, Agravity, and Yozakura float around the bottom. Crazy time, especially with TPN and KnY reaching the end.

As for Squid 8, I'll be sad to see it go, but it's not something I'm going to miss too much. It had it's ups and downs, and I definitely could see glimmers of what Kishi really wanted to do with the series. I don't dislike the series as much as some corners of the internet do, but I do agree I didn't do a great job of trying to retain readers, with the battle royale arc being the weakest part for me. However I will fully admit to liking the first 15 or so chapters more than most people probably did. I'll save my final thoughts for when the last chapter actually comes out.

Those S8 spoilers....talk about a middle finger to the readers but at least there's no hiding the fact that Kishi did intend the series to go on longer than it did.

That is a pretty abrupt ending for S8. I thought it would go on for a bit longer. Well, just means new space for another new manga.

So what kind of series you hope gonna replace S8?
A Romcom which is actually good at both romance and comedy.
I know I am pretty much asking for the impossible.

I went through all of them. None commented anything. The closest thing to a you'll come back is the penis mosaic comment from UU mangaka.
Do you got the english translation for that comment? I really wanna see how a "You'll be back" mixes with a penis mosaic comment. XDDD

lmao who is the penis mosaic?
Undead Unluck. Andy is the only MC in WSJ who currently gets shown with a mosaic over his penis whenever he regenerates.

WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST WAKE UP TO?
But did they leak the JJK and Yuuna color pages yet? And it seems that Mitama is getting one next week?

What a explosion of the thread to wake up to wow. Rip Samurai 8, and congrats to Bleach fans. I lost interest in Bleach during the final arc but I’ll watch the new anime I guess, and very looking forward to Burn the Witch. Surprised by the new Mitama CP but not complaining, wish Yozakura and Agravity were higher up the TOC though.

A detective story. In the broad sense of the word (someone trying to figure out something).

They should approach the current situation and make a cells at work-like manga lol.
Ah, yes. A horror story about a deadly virus sounds perfect right now.

Honestly though, I wonder if it'd sell.

The first rank of GoTW was relatively good, considering that most people were thinking that he would start at the botton. But to be honest I believe that in the next ranks it will fall.
The first chapter was good, so this isn't surprising.

I fully expect it to come crashing down in the next weeks though.

Colleague did you read the last line of what I write?

If I were you I wouldn’t feed so much stress, especially with this Coronavirus epidemic.

I'm more excited for the premise of Kishimoto finally doing Mario (a gangster manga he supposedly had always wanted to do) he should go to a seinen magazine I don't wanna see a shonen gangsters manga!

I for one would love to see a neo-noir detective manga in the style of something like the Max Payne games in Jump. Then again, I don't know how Japan would accept this.

Horror manga, has that been done in Jump before? I can't think of any prior examples.

Check out Outer Zone, I think the entire manga is scanlated, it's kinda like Twilight Zone.

Edit:
Talking about Outer Zone, this was also a revived series by JUMP, it had been cancelled and then came back! I didn't know lol
Check here Check 1991 and look for "アウターゾーン" (Outer Zone), it started in issue 14, ended in issue 24.. Then in issue 38 it had a special chapter or something. Then re-started in issue 51 again (Even getting the cover of the issue, when it didn't get it back when it first was serialized.)

I think Jump saw the potential of having a horror manga with different stories every couple of chapters, which I think was smart. Even if the series didn't really sell well, it gave the magazine more variety which is good.

I had heard that like Jaguar, Outer Zone was an eternal bottom dweller, as in a manga that was always in the last place in the magazine (As in it was always the last thing you'd read in the magazine) which I think worked great for it, being a horror manga with autoconclusive stories most of the times.
But it's not the same case as Jaguar, since Jaguar was in the bottom of the magazine pretty much from start to finish.

Also, seems like only 9 volumes out of 15 are scanlated.

???

What are you talking about? I was just pointing out that the first chapter getting a decent rank wasn't really surprising, despite 'most people thinking that it would start at the bottom.'

Does that give you stress? Because I honestly don't understand what you're saying.

I would prefer a martial art series to replace Samurai 8. Don't have to be realistic, you can be off-the -wall too.

I'm curious, why was Jaguar forever placed at the back of the magazine?
