Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

“Finished Manuscripts” is a vague term. The writer of The Promised Neverland once mentioned in a interview that the entire manuscript for the Gracefield arc was finished before the serialization and how he spent a while developing it with editors.

And there have been plenty of times where the mangaka have mention playing new videos games during their serialization within the author comments.

It could be short. But finishing a manuscript could just mean he finished the first arc, or first few arcs, and now has a little free time to play a new game. It’s too vague a term in the world of comic books to
Sure. But in this case, they never mentioned "finished the arc" of Burn The Witch. They only speak in the context of Burn the Witch. Kubo states it in the context of Burn The Witch meaning the manuscripts for that is done.
So there really shouldn't be any further doubt in this when it comes "Burnza Witchu".

It could be 5 volumes long or it could even be 1. I'm actually thinking it'll be between 1-2 volumes. 3 at max. Given Kubo's style of drawing and writing and the general length of movie, 2 is what I'd assume.

It doesn’t. I’m just saying nothing explicitly says “mini series” either. The only real thing hinting at that is a movie
But they literally said in the livestream that they had Kubo extend the oneshot to give the movie more content.

Unless you're thinking the movie will be the longest in history, that can only mean that it's a miniseries.

So, apparently Kubo's twitter account will also be partly run by editorial staff tweeting information. The display name of the account was also changed to "Tite Kubo & Staff"
Good. Doubt Kubo wants to deal with the bullshit that comes with twitter again especially with how toxic fans can get.

Assuming that it’s a long series the movie could just extend past where the one-shot left off and adapt a full volume, and play the same role that the Toriko OVA, Black Clover OVA and One Piece OVA.

I’m not opposed to it being short. I just don’t see what makes everyone think it’ll be short.

Seems pretty similar to Kishimoto’s come back to me, except this has a movie attached to its start.
But unlike Samurai 8, Burn The Witch has a 2 year old one shot attached to it, and the series takes place in the same universe as Bleach, so I had no doubt that it would get animated in some form whether it got a manga series or not.

I just feel like it would have been made clear that this was only going to be 1 or 2 volumes, and they would have introduced it as a mini series just like they do with every mini series that runs in the magazine if that were the case

lol.. movie.. Bleach movie always underperformed compared to naruto, OP, DB (gintama and MHA too, damn)... no one surpass 1 billion yen.. and Live action only got 500 million... for context gintama L.A got 5 billion...wow,
and now they will had movie from Bleach universe?? lets see if kubo name can gather hype...
sorry for being bummer...
i think kubo will only redrawn the BTW movie to jump like they do with boruto.. i think 2-3 volume is enough for movie..

SpyxFamily got 5th and Chainsaw Man got 10th
Who seriously voted for SxF, AA & CSM:facepalm ? Their anime is guaranteed at this point, especially the former. Was it japanese that voted for this only or people outside of Japan as well?

Happy for Komi

Tell us the last time a full new series was released on SJ (or any other magazine) with a movie for theaters being released 3 months after. People were talking about SJ advertising S8 too much because some papers included in other manga's volumes, imagine a whole animated movie being produced just because is a "Tite Kubo" new series? It would be incredibly dumb to do that with the potential of the series underperforming like S8, a short series is the norm in these situations and the safe practice.

This will definitely bump up Bleach's volume sales, especially the last 20 volumes or so. I think we can expect a reprint some time when the anime is close to release?

Both is true (I specifically saw the Komi-san subreddit campaign for the poll.) Honestly, I'd vote for Spy x Family, since I'm not sure all of the successful manga over there get anime adaptations. You're right about AA and CSM, though.

Doubt it will pump sales in any significant way, a lot of finished manga gets new adaptation and they don't even show on Shoseki like fruit basket last year.

If I recall, the short Boruto manga from 2015 that built up to the movie (the one about Sarada and Sasuke) was never confirmed a 1 volume thing until part way in.

Well this sure is interesting, Burn the Witch being a movie sounds very fun, now I wish other authors would do something similar to Kubo with it

Ok, not upset by Komi at all, its deserved and hopefully we'll get it eventually.

If Astra lost in space can get an anime adaptation then you can bet that SxF will 100% get one. Astra was like a 30k copy seller and it was one of the better selling titles from Jump+ at the time and iirc it won an award (plus its a short title). Anyway, both SxF & Jigokuraku will definitely get their anime.

There’s a first time for everything.
I think the fact that it had a One Shot and it existing in the same universe as Bleach brings a lot of interest of it getting a movie and long running series, as opposed to Samurai 8 being a completely new IP. On top of that, it seems like the One Shot was very well received, and it’s from an incredibly popular mangaka, so I feel like it’s getting a movie based purely on the reception of the one shot.

also, heavy promotion in a series isn’t a bad idea at all. It just backfired when it proves to be something ppl don’t want, and receives further hate when it’s being forced on ppl. If Samurai 8’s quality matched its hype then the promotion it got would have benefited it

Nobody is going to change my mind on this. I believe this will be just the same as any other Jump series until proven otherwise. If I’m wrong you all bring my post back all you want and ban me from the site. But I feel strongly about it being a long running series

It was editor pushing and fan response that might have got BtW serialized since it got great reception and feedback all over Japan when the one shot got released. I’m pretty sure it was the most popular one shot to come out of that Jump 50th anniversary one shot releases.
Imagine Bleach surpassing Slam Dunk and Kochikame lifetime sales if demand increases with the release of the new anime which may introduce a new generation to the series.

I mean, it prrrrrobably helps that it was in the big issue celebrating the anniversary itself, the one with the cover of the leads with characters who helped inspire the mangaka.

Is Bleach even at 100M copies in print yet? Slam Dunk is at 170M...not happening.

Bleach reaching 100M copies in print will be a nice feat if it hasn't reached it yet.
