Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Ok. It was the author's decision, you are right.
But so far it's not been a good decision. The manga doesn't have so much to offer anymore and I think it would be more fair to give the positions he receives in the magazine to some of the newbies (Yozakura, agravity and undead unluck).
...That's...that's not positions work.

That's not how anything works.

Regardless of who belongs to a choice. These series are being extended.
And kimetsu can become the new bleach, depending on how the next chapters will be.
I want to be wrong with Kimetsu but what is showing itself is not promising.
Based speedreader.
It was foreshadowed so many times throughout the whole manga things would turn out this way, even before the anime announcement there were hints of this happening.
Kimetsu no Yaiba is not being extended, it is going just like the author wanted to

You still make absolutely no sense.

Naruto was never extended? Like, at all. And, shipping aside, few people had issues with the ending itself. It's the stuff before with Kaguya that is sharply disliked.

Bleach's ending is disliked because Kubo had to rush it because of his declining health. It is literally the oppisite of an "extended ending".

Anyway, you have zero evidence to the idea of Kimetsu being extended, all you're doing is opening up blind theories. None of that gives your argument any validity.
Me not opening up blind theories. Don't make up lies, okay.

let's wait for 202 to see. I hope you're right.

The current stuff was clearly planned for a while (otherwise Nezuko would've shown up against Muzan) but either way Kimetsu running longer is a great decision, since it's currently the most popular series in the magazine seller 2 million per volume, and is still growing.

Suddenly ending it to put their hopes on a series in dead last that sells under 10k would make no sense at all.

Longer would mean until August where the results of popularity poll will be revealed. I don't think it will go for the entire year. The magazine itself wouldn't have put dozens of times that this is the final battle and getting the same remarks as Neverland. (climax of the climax, final battle, endgame).

It's because it makes more sense to milk the stone and have a new bleach 2.0
If you are as simple as you say, never use would never have finished Slam dunk.

Tbh I don't see bnha getting the same treatment as Bleach or Naruto with the shipping thing. Or at least getting the amounts of salt from the fanbase. If it happens it happens and it will be ok with whatever the outcome will be.
I don’t see as much shipping wars in the HeroAca fandom. Maybe some disgust at certain pairings involving Bakugo, but that’s really it. Everyone tends to pair everyone.
Though, considering how trigger-happy the fandom gets, I expect calls for blood of some pairings ended up not becoming canon.

Regarding Goku and Chichi, I remember an interview with Toriyama where he said the reason Goku married Chichi is was something like he didn't like her character at all, and decided to have them get married as a way to force himself to keep Chichi in the story.

Here it is

Makes me wonder if there are other plot points we've had in series that happened because the author was punishing themselves.
Wait... why the heck did Toriyama even keep ChiChi in the story then? This doesn’t make sense to me. He could’ve just left her out entirely - the marriage was a childhood promise, after all, and those usually don’t hold up. I’m confused.

Worth noting that 2011 also had an issue delay due to the Touhoku earthquake. Anyone know how exactly it was handled there?
I guess that 16/17 gap was longer than usual.

That's just how Toriyama works, he makes everything up as he goes along and plans absolutely nothing ahead if the editor lets him. He made a random decision based on a silly idea he got in the moment, like much of the series.

His early DBZ editor was more involved and made him actually plan stuff out (hence it actually having a bunch of foreshadowing for some stuff), but the editor for late Cell and the Buu arc was pretty hands off and you can tell, since everything at that point happens completely at random (there's an interview about it where Toriyama said he didn't even plan the next chapter in that arc, he knew as much about what was going to happen next as the readers did).

Wow I never heard of Mr. Fullswing and it lasted for quite a while. I'm surprised it didn't get an anime because with that many chapters it seemed pretty popular if it lasted that long.
I thought I'd heard about Mr. Fullswing somewhere.

Turns out it's the one here you probably don't recognize:

Why is there a fully pixelated thingie in the left page?

Also for all those people who read, enjoyed and/or voted for WT this week. I made a new WT thread to talk specific WT stuff so that it doesn't happen here. So if you wanna tell how you survived the two years of no WT releases or how you feel about the new anime season or what you think about a certain twist in the latest chapter, please do it here:

You know, I forgot to mention this.

I was in Japan for SJ’s 50th anniversary and I went to the exhibit for the 2000 era manga, buying the book and everything.

Why isn’t Psyren in there? It lasted quite a while, and even cancelled series like Mx0 got in there. I just find it weird that Psyren isn’t in the book at all. Did the mangaka have a fallout with Shueisha or something?

Wnl is practically an undead, the idea of ending parallels seemed cool but now it is not but.

Nah bro this outcome in demon slayer while unexpected was definitely planned. I can already guess how this is going to end now...

I also have something on my mind, but that's not what I'm disagreeing with.

Speaking of Psyren, do you think that author will return to WSJ?

He's technically maybe had 3 cancelled series but Psyren was hit really since it lasted 3 years, it was longer than some top remembered hits (it just unfortunately couldn't get an anime to bring in a new audience before it started to wear out on people). Plus his other two series weren't total failures either, Mieru Hito lasted more than a year and Kagamigami performed the worst but still survived a couple batches.

Has he done any oneshots recently? He's definitely shown strong potential for success, I think he just needs the right kind of series (and to get an anime before it's too late this time).

I wonder where all that profit goes. How it is distributed?

Depends entirely on a large amount of factors. Generally speaking, mangaka only get money from the manga themselves and license shares.
