Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Was Busou Renkin's anime a full adaptation?
Yes, though that one was obviously somewhat shorter.
Maybe also Reborn? Was never following it fully, but at least the anime had 200+ episodes.

I can get behind that if it means Toriko being adapted by Ufotable
The main thing that made me think of this is how Kimetsu No Yaiba stayed faithful to how the breathing techniques look in the manga.

A lot ppl don’t talk about how stylized some of the Jutsu look in Naruto. Like how the Fire Techniques have this calligraphy look to them. Not saying that I wanted Ufotable to do Naruto. But I think Naruto could have looked amazing if it did some of that same stylization in the anime instead of weird CG Fire

Reborn anime had a bunch of filler and didn't adapt the final arc.

Hatsukoi Limited and Mazinger Z, but i have only seen the Shin anime so not sure.
Was the original Saint Seiya and Captain Tsubasa manga eventually completely adapted through different seasons?
Did that weird Houshin Engi adaptation reach the ending? But I guess even if it did you can't call that truncated version a full adaptation.

I think the both eventually were completed, including Tsubasa's World Youth arc. I believe Prince of Tennis also got a complete adaptation through OVAs like Saint Seiya?

Some other series had anime long enough to adapt everything, but could be full of filler and I haven't seen the whole thing/read the manga to know for sure. Mainly thinking about

Dr Slump
Ninku
Sexy Commando

Pretty sure Reborn anime finished right before the Shimon arc started in the manga.

I gues we can also say the D.Gray-man anime adapted all of the weekly chapters back when it was still running in WSJ and Hollow adapted the first arc of the SQ chapters 😭

Bastard has never gotten a proper anime adaption with the OVAs only covering the first saga.

Oh yeah, forgot about those. Sexy Commando isn't complete (it only had short episodes), but Ninku is, it has an ongoing fansub too, that has finished the core story with only a bit of anime original epilogue left to sub.

ngl its hella weird seeing an anime movie trailer on youtube trending in the US, now im even more curious how the film will do in the states
Would you say that anime is 'mainstream' in American/western culture now? Genuinely wondering

Does anyone have any information about one shot to serialization time frame?

Like how long on average does it take for a one shot to become serialized (if it's going to be), what's the shortest time it took vs the longest and is there a way to gauge all of the one shots' popularity in Japan (maybe there is a site that keeps track of this?) so that future serializations could theoretically be predicted?

HxH is already complete really, The current arc's a spin-off more than anything else (though if it does ever get animated, it'll be in another decade or two when the arc eventually finishes).

Was Busou Renkin's anime a full adaptation?
Yes. It was. Not to mention the opening is a cult hit.

I don't think it's there yet. Jump/action anime is getting there, but people don't know about publishers and companies. People expected Jump Force to have characters from different publishers, and people whine about official Jump apps not having Attack on Titan, Fairy Tail, One Punch Man, etc. It could get there soon though.

It's not nearly on the same level of popularity, but Black Clover's eleventh OP also trended on US YouTube a few days ago. Anime and manga have definitely become mainstream in western culture, or at least a lot more than they were just a few years back.

In addition to the Jump+ one-shot, looks like the writer also did this 4-volume series back in 2017.

(Author's name is different because that's another name they would use. Mentioned it in their Twitter bio, but they deleted their account.)
Twitter account for Time Paradox's writer is back up. Guess they had just hidden it.

Will debut on May 17/18.

We’re getting there at quite the pace. Anime in general isn’t really mainstream yet, though Jump is mostly leading the way due to how many of their shows have reached this status. I would be surprised if 2030 rolls around and anime isn’t mainstream though.

I feel as even when anime goes mainstream, it till still take at least a long while for people to really learn the companies behind them. I’d imagine Weekly Shonen Jump/Shueisha would be the first name, though.

Anime has always been lowkey mainstream in Western culture.
Yeah, things like Dragon Ball have been popular all over the world for decades and even my grandma can recognize Doraemon because it aired as a very popular kid's show around here.

Most people might not be familiar with the concept and details of anime, but many of the products are definitely well-known beyond the weeb audience.

Speaking of the KnY movie, it seems ufo has been upping the team working on it, an example is this guy (he had a tweet specifically stating he was working on the movie but deleted it, but you can still pretty much tell since he retweeted all official info)

Yutaka Nakamura also suspiciously posted kimetsu no yaiba drawings yesterday (also a rengoku one a couple of days ago) so I assume he's involved

YUTAGOD.

Seriously, this guy's profile has been on a rise since he worked on MHA. Having a hand in the two most successful franchises of the decade, he's clearly in high demand for action-heavy series/franchises.
