Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Do we know if Toei and/or Perriot have compositing teams of their own?
Pretty sure that Pierrot outsources compositing for at least Black Clover. I remember seeing something about a new compositing studio joining the production a few months back.

Some series that were supposed to start this month such as Oregairu S3 already got delayed so it must be frantic for production committees that were planning for Summer anime to be released in July to push back.

Worst case scenario is, we might not even have any anime premiere at all this summer. Which seems to be an increasing possibility as the days go by.

Guys, I doubt anyone interested enough to buy the CSM volumes is going to suddenly refuse because of a logo design.
I disagree. People who already know the series might not be swayed, but for those who decide what to buy in the shop, covers are extremely important.

Also, let me just say that the French covers weren't always that great.

Covers? Sure. Logos on the cover? I'm not so sure.

I get that people are disappointed in the logo, but I don't think it's *so* off-putting to put off potential costumers.

This one, probably not.

But it's totally possible to have logo's that will turn people off, especially if they mess up their target audience (for example, if the title looks too childish, many adults won't even look at it because they think it's not for them).

The logo is alright. Some people here just don't like Viz so they'll be critical of their decision regardless if it's good or not. They could have done something simple for CSM like the French version and they'd still find something to complain about.

Are people really ok with Viz logo?
It looks atrocious to me, and kinda childish, like a lego box cover. With any Lucky my local version won't be as bad
edit: Yeah, reading twitter it does seem that Viz have quite a number of defenders, Im amazed, but it explains a lot of the stuff they get away with

This is such a poor argument and defense for Viz's decisions.
Viz should do something right properly first before people can start going easy on them. People don't like Viz because of how often they mess things up.

A lot of mangaka put in a lot of time and effort into making their volume covers be unique and stand out. CSM is definitely one that stands out because of the colors and composition the mangaka chooses. Its so obvious how much better the french version is. It retains the color palette of the original and the design aesthetic that the mangaka envisioned for these covers. Whereas the Viz version just takes artistic liberties to change it to what they felt like without paying attention to what the mangaka was going for.

If you enjoy art and presentation, Viz's logo is a big no.
It probably won't affect the actual purchase of the volumes themselves aside from few people who buy volumes for the look of covers.

Well, the ccp got a lot of supporters on the net as well. They sure are some good people.

Mori King reminds me of Melt Away! Mizore chan. They both have summer activities as the focus and are insanely wacky

I disagree that the logo looks “childish”

But even if it did, I’m pretty sure most ppl would see the man with a chainsaw on his head, and the off colored blood assume that this is a series for adults. That and the “Rated T+/M” stamp on the back.

But some people actually think the logo is good and that Viz has done something right. The problem is people like you ignoring their opinion or how some users are comparing them with the ccp supporters (Good God). I get it. You guys don't like Viz. But don't exaggerate and act like the CSM logo is the worst thing they've done. It's a toxic mindset.

This is equally poor criticism as well.
It’s unlikely that the most mangaka themselves even design logos and the over all look of the volumes, outside of the the cover illustrations and other illustrations that come with a new volume release.

It’s common practice in the entertainment industry(film, tv, manga, comics, music, etc.) in general for property to have different posters, covers and logos in each country. Mainly to appeal to different markets. Changing the logo is not disrespecting the mangaka, and highly doubt even cares. Some counties are better than others. While French has a better Chainsaw Man cover, a lot of ppl would say they have a worst MHA logo than America and Japan.

Overall you overreact with most of the Viz logos. The only one that’s really as bad as you guys complain about is the Act Age logo. But in general, not many people outside of this very small thread has an issue with Viz’s cover and logos. They’re honestly not bad to the point of complaining this much about them

For anyone interested, there was a The Right Way to Make Jump! chapter on logo design for series: https://www.viz.com/shonenjump/right-way-to-make-jump-chapter-23/chapter/20038?action=read

To summarize: Sometimes the mangaka makes the logo themselves (Haikyu!! and One Piece), sometimes they don't (Naruto).

I never said it looked childish, only that a childish logo could turn people off.

In this case it probably won't make a difference.
