This is such a poor argument and defense for Viz's decisions.
Viz should do something right properly first before people can start going easy on them. People don't like Viz because of how often they mess things up.
A lot of mangaka put in a lot of time and effort into making their volume covers be unique and stand out. CSM is definitely one that stands out because of the colors and composition the mangaka chooses. Its so obvious how much better the french version is. It retains the color palette of the original and the design aesthetic that the mangaka envisioned for these covers. Whereas the Viz version just takes artistic liberties to change it to what they felt like without paying attention to what the mangaka was going for.
If you enjoy art and presentation, Viz's logo is a big no.
It probably won't affect the actual purchase of the volumes themselves aside from few people who buy volumes for the look of covers.
This is equally poor criticism as well.
It’s unlikely that the most mangaka themselves even design logos and the over all look of the volumes, outside of the the cover illustrations and other illustrations that come with a new volume release.
It’s common practice in the entertainment industry(film, tv, manga, comics, music, etc.) in general for property to have different posters, covers and logos in each country. Mainly to appeal to different markets. Changing the logo is not disrespecting the mangaka, and highly doubt even cares. Some counties are better than others. While French has a better Chainsaw Man cover, a lot of ppl would say they have a worst MHA logo than America and Japan.
Overall you overreact with most of the Viz logos. The only one that’s really as bad as you guys complain about is the Act Age logo. But in general, not many people outside of this very small thread has an issue with Viz’s cover and logos. They’re honestly not bad to the point of complaining this much about them
