The only series to get an LCP on its final chapter was Slam Dunk.
Slam Dunk and Kochikame are the only series to have gotten a Cover and LCP for their final chapter.
Pretty sure few others had LCP's only for their final chapters and some like DBZ and Naruto had full colored chapters

Ring ni Kakero lasted just a little bit more than KnY I think.. But you can agree it pretty much established the cliches of Jump..
Slam Dunk ran for 6 years or so but overall I think it sold a little bit more than KnY and probably was a bit more popular.. But Idk..

I understand your point Kimetsu was a sprint compare to Dragon Ball's and Naruto's marathons, but I still think it's deserving of LCP.
I'm not talking solely about length here. Kimetsu only actually carried the magazine for less than a year, before then while still doing well it wasn't one of "big hits". Those series were super popular for much longer.

I'm kind of torn on the matter, I think there are arguments either way regardless of whether you say it should've gotten it or it shouldn't have. But like I said, the fact that it got an LCP on the only issue that wasn't occupied by a new series starting does make me think they meant to give it one and it was just a scheduling problem.

But there would have been one more issue if it wasn't for the corona break, right? And that would mean one more chapter and an earlier conclusion.

I mean, if you look at it, there were new series starting before and after the double issue, so the double issue was the only one Kimetsu could have gotten an LCP, and it would have been the last chapter if not for Coronavirus.
Exactly... This whole COVID19 thing with KnY ending in a series of issues between new mangas comings AND a double issue mysteriously not having a LCP by One Piece AND now MangaPlus's mistake.. It just all makes me think KnY would have ended this week with LCP AND One Piece would have gotten LCP last week (Because last week would have been double issue if COVID hadnt' changed the schedules, or am I wrong?)

I really don't feel like thinking too much right now, it's better if we just wait two more weeks, one more week for KnY's last chapter and CP (Because I think it's not getting a LCP due to a new manga debuting that issue) and the next week to see if One Piece does get a CP. Then we will have a bit more "evidence" but yeah, even when we get all that we will never know what would have happened anyways, so it will be kinda dumb to theorize anyways lol

@yadayada it pretty much all points out to that, that it was a scheduling problem.

No? It was always going to be Mori-Bone-GW-Time.

Nothing changed in terms of the issue contents.

None of this makes sense and comes off as a lot of rather pointless extrapolating.

There's not much to explain?

Standard schedule was to be Mori-Bone-GW-Break-Time.

Bone's issue was delayed because of COVID restructuring, and the GW issue came after the holiday as a result.

Simple as that. There is no "other issue" which vanished into the ether.

@Rain Spectre after further inspectioning you are right.

Basically as Rain said Issues 20, 21 and 24 where always schedule to have new series on them (So LCP were for the new series). (Remember issue 22-23 was going to be a double issue, without a new series).

But then there was a delay in the magazines but we didn't lose an issue, WSJ simply changed the double issue, instead of it being issue 22-23 it was 21-22, and the real double issue (with the cover with all the characters) changed to a "normal" issue, issue 23 (The current issue).

And next week is issue 24 which is the one with Time Paradox Ghostwriter starting AND Kimetsu's last chapter.

Basically Kimetsu was always going to end in issue 24 (Or better put, it had 4 more chapters after issue 19, the last issue that was on schedule before all this) and since a double issue was two weeks after the delays we didn't really lose a magazine or anything like that.

Sorry guys I wanted to see a mystery where there was none and I was genuinely confused too lol. It was fun while it lasted.

Kudos to admitting you were wrong.

General rule of thumb, guys, think by Occam's Razor. Like with the printing development point Pero made, usually the "right" answer is the one where zero absurd jumps have to be made.

What @redon is probably trying to say is that One Piece was probably going to get the CP in this double issue (As it pretty much does every double issue) but due to COVID it changed somehow. This seems to be corroborated by mangaplus's "mistake". One Piece will probably have CP when it returns in 2 weeks.
Finally someone that understand my post lol

We know MangaPlus has a lot of information from Shueisha. For example, Norma Editorial (Kimetsu no Yaiba spanish publisher in MangaPlus) was informed about KnY ending 7 weeks ago. Another example, last One Piece sudden break at the end of February, was published in MangaPlus days before it was confirmed in Shonen Jump. A lot of people said it was a mistake and no, it was real.

That's why I think One Piece was probably going to get the lead Color Pages in Golden Week issue, but due Covid-19 problems or even Oda's problems (remember his last message) Shueisha changed it at the last minute.

If that was the case then the number of issues would be 22-23 instead of just 23 and the fact it is still up even with chapters out make it like a mistake really.

But I already told you this image was done after the break was already announced, otherwise you would see "Issue 22-23" on it and not "Issue 23", this means they made this after we got our new schedule already meaning they already had full knowledge of the changes, and knowledge that it wasn't going to be OP getting the LCP of issue 23. Just stop trying to dig where there is nothing to dig for.

Besides, what does OP going on a break in the next issue matter? These things are scheduled way in advance, they don't decide them on a whim.

Yeah, everything I said was about KnY and it not getting LCP turns out Shueisha never intended Kimetsu to get LCP in its final issue, but that still proves nothing of One Piece not getting LCP for this issue of WSJ.

@redon i totally understand your post and I still believe One Piece was getting LCP that double issue.

I mean when you think about it.. It's super weird KnY had two back to back CP chapters.

BTW now that I remember, and crap I know this just sounds like a conspiracy theory, but maybe some of you guys remember I asked if anyone else noticed this week's One Piece chapter felt a little "weird" like it really felt like Oda was missing his assistants..

Maybe that's why he didn't have time for a LCP and it was given to KnY instead, because Oda had no assistants.

And Rain don't laugh at me haha, sometimes absurd jumps are just fun.. And I do think redon and I have some valid points.

Because even if the issues didn't change one thing did: Oda's work environment, he probably stopped receiving some of his assistants or something, I mean I even noticed this like a couple of days ago in the chapter.

So.. I guess what I'm trying to say is, and this is my final theory:
-One Piece was going to get LCP during double issue AND Kimetsu no Yaiba was going to get only CP in issue 24 (Last KnY chapter).
-Oda's assistants either stopped going to work or less assistants went around 2ish weeks ago, thus giving Oda less time to do it.
-MangaPlus had already done the advertisement promoting OP's color pages for issue 23 in advance. (I'm talking maybe 1-2 weeks before today, the official release date of the chapter. (Which in the past was going to be 22-23, but that doesn't really have anything to do with this, just remember that Shueisha probably has issues mapped out thru the year for what series get what LCP ).
Also remember the delays were announced on April 8th, almost a month has passed, I think it's very likely that if say who

Furthermore this was also in the Spanish mangaplus page. So... Now two people (The one in charge of the Spanish advertisement and English advertisement made the same mistake?)
It kinda doesn't sound like a mistake now, more like Shueisha told them 2 or so weeks in advance One Piece was getting Lead Color page for the double issue and then Oda couldn't do it.. They probably just forgot to change it.

But hey, this is a theory.. a manga theory! And we will never be able to prove it haha

Also as Rain said Occam's razor would say that MangaPlus just made a mistake promoting One Piece's color page, but I say that there was no mistake and that One Piece was getting a LCP in issue 23, Oda couldn't do it last minute because of a lack of assistants (And it really shows in this chapter) and that's how Kimetsu ended up with the LCP in the "double issue".

So... Now two people (The one in charge of the Spanish advertisement and English advertisement made the same mistake?)
Banners are not likely done by two people. And I even doubt they are translated by different people. They have huge grammar mistakes and have had errors every week when they're published. This is nothing new.

Also it's not only banners. Promotional pages and extra content in the platform in Spanish has an exaggerated amount of errors because of translating literally from English. There was no effort at all in its design until a few weeks ago in which they seem to have changed whoever worked on that, and thank god they did. There's a huge lack of quality regarding that kind of stuff in the website, so I highly doubt this is something other than an error.

Jesus guys, they don't tell the artists "last minute" that they have the LCP. They know this kind of things in advance exactly so they don't find themselves doing them "last minute". This image was made after all the rescheduling was already done and after Oda was already aware of his new situation. Besides as raf told you, the chance that 2 people made that image for the 2 languages is pretty slim.

This situation you're trying to build does not make sense. And as for the "But why is Kimetsu getting back-to-back CPs?", we've had CSM get three CPs in a row for a popularity poll and you're asking why the most popular series in the industry is getting 2 for its ending. Like, does this really need to be addressed?

It's not. It would be super weird to not give KNY AT LEAST this for its final chapters. I'm surprised they didn't just give it a full blown color chapter with the LCP for the final chapter.

Well it has the digital colored version and it kinda emulates Wani's coloring.

Yeah but digital colored version isn't the same as the chapter getting a full color version in the magazine itself, tho.

CPs, LCPs, Covers, Full Color Chapter are all hints at something's popularity or importance to WSJ or the importance WSJ wants that series to have.
Kimetsu is arguably the most important series right now in the industry. So this was their last chance to give it that final push from their side.

Not that I'm complaining, LCP is also good.

If anything, I'm more surprised the final arc didn't have a single full colored chapter. Even Kuroko got a fulled colored chapter for its final arc and Kuroko's impressive 1 million sales per volume was only 1/3rd of Kimetsu's.

Edit - NVM, Kuroko's wasn't the final arc. But still, rest of my point stands.
