But he's still considered a widdle kiddie by everyone around him (I don't see that changing as a result of this or anything else that happens in this battle), and only managing bare minimum kinds of feats to reinforce that idea. To me, this bleeds over to the reactions people have to what he does. It's always in a 'look at baby go!' frame of reference, not because the things he's doing are always particularly amazing in the broader sense. And then you get the visual of what we saw Zahard doing in this chapter. It seems like a deliberate reminder of how lacking the protagonist is compared to the real thing. We all knew that to be the case regardless, obviously, but SIU doesn't need to gleefully and deliberately rub our faces in it at every opportunity.

I dunno. We were denied any satisfying outcome against Kallavan in favor of this event. And what we got was shitheel Raivolic still pulling off his gambit, and Baam managing to save one little piece of the Cage, while the rest got annihilated. The important stuff got saved and the story will continue on track, but that's it. For once, it would be great if Baam could manage to do something completely right, is all I'm saying.
Well Yasurach and Mascheny clearly aren't taking him lightly, neither as a kiddie: in this Very chapter we saw him pulling a stunt most High Rankers can't perform. He is undoubtedly a working Piece in a High Rankers chess board starting this last chapter.

Lepavuv, a top 300 High Ranker, was frail and vulnerable, but also lethal and not neglectable at all. There is an easy comparison there to be made with Bam: he can injure Kallavan harder than even White, Kalla's equal. Ofc he is a rookie compared to them, and there's a time issue that only a time Chamber would fix. But other than being Young, I can't agree he is being treated as a baby on the Battlefield. That is a reader's old habit to think of Bam that way, but experienced characters don't make such mistake. Audience Will adapt eventually, only a matter of time.

Luch deserves nothing more than what he's been receiving from Lyboric; he had a hidden superiority complex from the beginning and decided to toy with guys who fought for greater values; he selfishly betrayed them just to suit his own limited comprehension of the world and KARMA caught up with him. Those are the types of idiots who should commit senpuku, as the only means of regaining honor as he just did
He only told Lyboric of the plan because he knew that there was a slim chance of winning the fight, in exchange for Lyboric in sparing his friends, but sadly only his team was left and he ended falling into a bigger trap.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Won't anyone else comment on Lyboric's half smile face when looking at Bam's teleport?

Because you need to get info on your enemy before you fight him, and former 4th Squadron was marked to die anyway after failing at Last Station. They already have a New 4th Squadron and It Will fight alongside 5th on next wall.

Also relevant: Dowon was being foolish until now but all things considered It adds realism to her character afterall. Each member of the Hidden Leaf had a different persona but all of them put the lives of their friends/comrades above fighting, and that's why they act like they did. FUG, no matter How harsh methods It uses, does Care about people more than a simple tool, and that does qualify them as the lesser evil.

I get the feeling that Good Guy Urek, although the only Nice person on the start of Season 2, Will turn out as merely the Guy who doesn't get involved because he can, because unlike the rest he isn't subject to Jahad anyway. He goes on living his White People Problems and thinks FUG overreacts, but FUG is the only one that gives a damn and tries to make a difference at the end of the day.
Well Gustang told Urek that he is among the few that can match a FH, and all his allies from the Wing tree are nothing but pawns. That's why he's not interfering, who knows maybe his team will get stronger in the future.

I keep thinking more about Khel, Sowo, Zahard and the flashbacks, and it keeps getting weirder for me.

I'm starting to wondering if the red witches are somehow related to Enryu—his descendants, his creations, and so on. Enryu is red-themed in appearance (and shinsoo), so are the red witches, we all know the old rumors about red shinsoo and creating life.

Color-theme aside, it might be more than a coincidence that the red witches have their home base on the floor of death (contrast with silver guides, who IIRC just "make a pilgrimage" to it at some point). It's also a bit strange that we don't see Sowo or any other red witches in the flashback—Khel's the closest we get to a guide, and...he sucks at it (at least up against Zahard...). Sowo's a bit strange, too, with her apparently-biological wings and her taking a more-active role in combat (unlike the other red witches...so far). Additionally, Hwaryun explains her freedom to roam the tower as due to her being a guide, but...what is it about guides that would give them that freedom? Finally, Hwaryun explains her service to FUG as reluctant—due to some threat to her sisters—but the nature of that threat isn't obvious.

A picture that would make sense to me would be for the red witches to be "new creations" within the tower, (1) coming into existence shortly after Enryu's visit and (2) related to Enryu in some fashion—clones, offspring, creations, fragments, whatever. The threat that allies them with FUG is simply that these (hypothetical) ties to Enryu make them obvious targets for Zahard: FUG's the only opposition, thus the red witches work with FUG, even if they don't particularly care for FUG and its goals.

A lot of speculation, I know, but it just seems strange to me that we've gone from fate-seeing being primarily the domain of red witches to it being the ability of red witches, Khel (somehow), Zahard (of course), and "Zahard with a mole" (...whoever that turns out to be).

I think the second greatest spearbearer just became Baam after his spirit arrows today :squee
Baam in the year 20XX:

Jahad: I AM THE BEST FISHERMAN IN THE TOWER ALSO KNOWN AS KING!!

Baam: I am the best wave controller, spear bearer, tank, anima user, etc. ... harem prince of the tower!!

I thought about this too during the FOD arc. I don't think they are his descendants or creation though. We know that among those who saw Enryu, some acquired new powers(the Grand brothers). Red Witches might have originated from there, someone or several person saw Enryu, it affected their hair color and gave them these powers.

What's also weird is that Sowo's abilities seem to be clouded when Baam is around, except for Hwaryun.

Also Sowo claimed to have seen Jahad in person so maybe she's very old compared to Hwar maybe close to Khel Hellam's age.

One thing that's still boggling me: did the Souls insta teleport to the place that Bam was aiming at? Did his Arrow actually travel to the target? @Jubei_Kibagami pointed out correctly that Bam fired after the explosion took place, and travelling faster than a blast is kind of weird. It only makes sense If the Arrow also teleported on its way towards the target.

I thought of It because White's slashes come from Impossible directions. How can White cut from a position he isn't at? I think the Souls' movement defies spatial logic, and that is why It synchd with 2nd Thorn's effect. A soul Arrow would hit you the moment It is released. Not sure It can deal any damage tho, as there wouldn't be any kinetic thrust behind it, nor the density of an Arrow/Spear.

Chances are that swords are Arie's way of making Soul Power able to dish out optimal damage, and that other shapes won't fit well with Souls as attacking tool.

White: Monster, who is our Hope and Ace here
Yama: Listen to the slayer candidate
Cha: Lord Grace
For regulars irregulars are weirdos who have some weird out of this world power that can easily tip the balance of the tower.

And among those weirdos came Baam, an innocent looking, baby faced monster. If in games there are level limit, skill limit and quests that needs to be done, he can easily skip those.
The stronger the skills he see and the more he desires it, he can easily imitate it and improve it better.

If he learns every specialty of the 10 great families, he'll be one of the most OP character. But lets not fast forward to that yet.

Oh yeah, and in some ways that might be the easiest way to explain things like (1) White's comment about filthy blood (gaining powers being some kind of contamination) and also (2) why e.g. Sowo has wings but Hwaryun don't (it's her pre-existing racial trait, perhaps?). Alternatively, if that black-haired Hidden Grove scout wasn't so tall, she'd be within range of mutating into Sowo...sure we'll find out someday.

I guess he imbued the arrow with teleporation magic from the 2nd thorn, then teleported the arrow to the cage then used the soul power to protect it instead or teleport anything except the cage away from it.

Hwaryun's ability to be around Baam is a mystery for sure.

IIRC Zahard originally had the floor of death setup as a shrine to himself. It'd seem very in-character for SIU to have the red witches be, like, the remnants of Zahard's "shrine maidens": they used to worship him, then they got mutated/turned by Enryu, and now...yeah.

1st off where are you getting the info about Hwa Ryun being threatened to join FUG? If it is from her story on FoD, Kuhn exposed her and she admitted most of it was a lie.

Sowo and Khell are from their respected sides of the wall of coexistence. We saw a frame of sowo as a child with Dowon, not sure if she was guide or just an ordinary child. Are you born a guide or is it a developed skill(i.e. Khell)? But you are right there are a lot questions that were left unanswered at both FoD and wall of coexistence

That doesn't make much sense, considering what happened. It seems likelier that he's going to be enraged with Baam for what he pulled, and go a lot harder at him than he was doing before. Settling with Raivolic can come after.
he explicitly says he doesn't think baam would be a good king

depends how fast it is traveling. We can see an explosion before it hits us because light travels faster, if the arrows are made of light or can jump or warp through space (makes sense with the second thorn), then this wouldn't be shocking.

Quite frankly, while I loved the chapter it was a little hard to understand at times

I thought she said something similar, albeit vague, directly to Baam back in early S2.

I'd forgotten about that kid, who really does look like Sowo. If that is her, the mysteries only deepen—especially since the "FUG elder logo" and Sowo's wings appear to be identical.

Kallavan is exerting the EOV a lot more than he did vs Jinsung as he fights White

SIU says in a Blog that Jinsung could have beaten Kallavan if Maschenny didn't also show up

White>Kallavan (apparently this is controversial)

Well, all the princesses are 'daughters' that are pledged to be potential wives. So take your pick.
She is talking about Zahard,
Hope in the next chapter things slow down and we can get a clear idea on who survived and who didn't.

Think Kallavan will now join Baam, at least for the rest of this arc to get revenge for his fallen squadron, as he was clear that if this did not work, then he will come for his head.
That makes no sense if Kallavan joins BAAM it will be to follow him forever that's just the type of guy he seems to be also remember should he ever do so he can't exactly just waltz back into the Zahard army. So it will be for something bigger than just revenge, BAAM would have to appeal to him with a show of great strength and some mighty heroic feats to convince him he could be capable to stop the wars.

We are talking about teleporting.... What about that makes you “think” it defies spatial logic??

It in FACT breaks it.... lol
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Are people of the belief Baam aimed at each target individually and each “soul arrow trajectory” mapped in a straight line? To me it defies logic to believe the arrows somehow adhere to physics UNTIL it hits its target, then all of a sudden become spatial distortions or space time rifts..... Its only logical to assume they are always “space breaking” from the point of release!

Would Kallavan sacrifice himself???

All his beliefs just got flushed down the toilet. He has nothing left!

Well the guides that serve the princesses so far are all, silver elf. It seems all red witches are not fond of the Jahad army.

I noticed that, but all the people from Dowon's tribe have elven ears same with the child.

He moved it near Baam.

Remember Yama's moving speech about them not having a home to go back to?

Side note: how big is Howl's Mado's moving castle ship?
What makes you think that he teleported the cage close to himself? Why do that? Wouldn't it just explode and catch him in the explosion? I'm not actually saying that you are wrong, but I am saying that I don't see either the evidence or motivation for it.

And yes, I do remember Yama's speech about not having a home to go back to, but I took that as more like saying "there is no running away, because there is nowhere to run to!" So after this, they will be without a central home -- unless of course, they take over the Nest. :). (Well, there are other locations with houndborn, such as the places they found Louie and Dengdeng, but at the moment, there is no way they would be considered central).

Not clear how big Mado's moving castle is, but it's pretty f**in big. It took in the Last Station and just sort of gobbled it up, if I understand correctly. So, at least temporarily, it could move all of them, but I doubt it would work well as a permanent home.
