Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Mashle is One Punch Man but Harry Potter. Of all the series in the magazine right now, it has by far the most obvious appeal. Two things people love but mashed together.

Even if you're not a fan, that core idea alone is enough to see why someone would enjoy it.

Sorry if I broke the rules. It was a comment on the newbie lists people were posting.
No no, I'm not saying you broke a rule, but your question can easily lead to fighting, which is why I don't think it's appropriate.

That goes for any popular series, really. You can read a list of why people like x series, but often times you'll still end up disliking it anyway.

It's all preference.

Can I ask you what do you think about Mashle?
I personally didn’t like it all the way back from Ch1. Now, I do have some sort of an action manga bias and I understand gags are usually a hit or miss. I was just curious of the reason for the appeal, imo it doesnt seem to be as creative and witty as the other gag mangas in the series. But the appeal exists for some reason for many people and also from the ToC placements seems fairly obvious to many.

To go straight to the point, Mashle to me fun. Mash is a good character, he is aloof and cool while also being inadvertently funny and caring. The comedy so far has been pretty good. Komoto's art has also quickly evolved and he has shown he is capable of great stuff. He is able to create panels that give us the sense of greatness like the ones in chapter 14. While the premise is simple and bares similarities to One Punch Man and Harry Potter, Mashle has its own quirks. If I have to give it any critique it's that I want more of the supporting cast, Lance has shown he will probably be the one to support Mash the most and his friendhsip with Mash seems like it can be developed into something nice, but there's also other characters to explore.

Judging by everything we've seen until now:

Time Paradox Ghostwriter >= Undead Unluck >> Mashle > Mission Yozakura Family > Guardian of the Witch > Mitama Secureity > Bone Collection > Agravity Boys > Moriking

Thinking some stuff:
-Neverland is clearly going to be the next Jump manga to end. In 3 chapters?
-Yuuna-san would be the next one. But it has started a volume or was ending a volume, so is getting at least 8 chapters. Still, is Yuuna-san, so we can expect it to somehow still lasting.
-Then it would be Haikyuu. Current game has lasted 13 chapters so far. I expect it to end in 15-20 chapters. The big question is: will Haikyuu end after this game, or will it get more games coming?
-Then We Never Learn. Each route is lasting 8-9 chapters, so I calculate 25-30 chapters left.

I see two things:
-2021 is going to be a curious year, with Jump being composed by One Piece, My Hero Academia, Black Clover, Dr.Stone, Act-age, Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsawman, and 13 2020 not-consolidated newbies. I can't still imagine Act-age being the 5th oldest Jump manga in the roster.
-It seems there is a 7 issues gap between my estimation of Neverland, Yuuna, Haikyuu, and WNL endings. If I'm right (I'm not sure about what I've posted btw because who knows what will happen), then are we getting a veteran ending before every new serialization round for a while?
Are there even going to be several more serialisation rounds? We already had 7 new titles this year, and we know there's a mini-series coming up. If they stick to their maximum of 11 new series a year, that means we can only expect 3 more newbies until November.

Btw guys for time paradox ghost writer, I have that bad feel for an tragic ending for the mc and something that this manga may become a hit.

So let's go deeper about the concept and the mc

Similar with death note, the mc is doing and sacrifice everything to make people happy and someone to look up to that he can accomplish things that *alot of people cant, only a few(stated in ch 1)*.

In paradox he is doing plagiarism, with that alone comes big karma. As long he can be an mangaka, he sells his soul even if it's with bad rebound.

Just like death note, something came from the sky like it came from god and use the "power" (microwave) to accomplish his deeds and needs.

While at the same time he has an one-sided goal and only motive to just make "every reader happy" beyond that he has not much going for him besides his desperate methods.

With the girl now as something similar again of death note (L), she will find the mystery to catch the mc to put him on his place or even put him in jail. So the mc either goes in jail or find something else for his career. Death may sound too extreme, I dont think they want to show that aspect in an real life shonenjump industry... that just give a bad taste in the mouth lol

I know it's only chapter 1 but I have a bad feeling with plagiarism alone,,,, this manga want to show that there is no shortcut becoming an artist, footballer, lawyer. There are times when it just not ur time yet or u have to accept that ur not the lucky masterpiece writer. (Its also important to have a back-up if thing doesnt end well in 1 route u want to achieve).

This series is something that will replace TPN image and takes the inspiration of bakuman & death note that all 3 are super impactful in the psychological aspect of manga and we always need atleast 1 of them.

This is so similar with death note and idk how this mha fable come from. But also as raf said, this manga came in the perfect time to shine.

I believe this paradox and mashle will be the surviving jump series that we will soon be proud of.
That's a really dark interpretation. My idea was that the girl will meet up with the MC, he will explain to her what happened and they'll figure out what to do from there.

Keep in mind that the MC isn't aware of the fact that he's plagiarising, so he hasn't really done anything wrong (yet).

Welp. Guess that's the sign that I need to binge and finish it.

I will never understand why people here like MASHLE.
The MC is charming and likable. It's a series that doesn't take itself too seriously while also parodying Harry Potter using very clear inspirations from OPM, Mob and definitely follows in the footsteps of Beelzebub here in WSJ with how it switches between action and comedy.

Also, I totally love the type of comedy Mashle does than most other comedy. Mash's one or two sentence reactions to certain circumstances are absolutely hilarious like the line he tells a character after hitting them "I wasted calories on you just now. I'll never get them back" or from the most recent chapter where he hears the name of the "elite group" and says "I used to make up stuff like that when I was 12".
It's the sarcastic retorts and reactions that I really enjoy. Something Saiki did really well.

You know I just realized, since the shonen jump hype is in full force right now, one piece hiatus, and they are losing there hugest series in the magazine by 2021, this is the perfect time for togashi to come back with hunter x hunter. Not only because of it’s long hiatus it is sure to bring some hype but in terms of sales averages it is one of shonen jump’s most popular series and most beloved (considering it is widely considered to be jump’s best manga). The return of hunter x hunter can definitely keep circulation stable with all the series ending. Even then I’m not to worried because 2021 act age, jujutsu kaisan, and chainsawman are probably going to get an anime adaptation and if the anime adaptations go well ( ideal: JJK production ig/madhouse, act age studio bones, chainsawman science saru) then they can easily become pillars not only inside the magazine but also out (jujutsu having extreme popularity with jumps core audience, act age attracting both boys and girls with its more shojo style, and chainsawman attracting both the core audience and the adult crowd. All in all I hope the newer series starts to finally shine brighter than ever with the more popular series either ending or going on hiatus.

Honestly I never thought of that idea, but that would probably be pretty interesting, though I think it's pretty unlikely. Personally my ideal studio for CSM would be Shaft I think, which is honestly probably just as unlikely.

You're better off asking for David Pro since a lot of staff members have moved there from Shaft. Unless you want to see a CSM series directed by Shinbo which I'm also on board for.

While I hope this is the last time we see a new straight up comedy manga for the rest of the year and they start to focus on sports, action, and more unusual jump manga (alternative battle, thriller, and game manga) I feel as though shonen jump set it up perfectly. Mashle going the parody/ action route of comedy, agrivity boys going for the gross out/ ecchi route of comedy, mitama going for the insane/ random route of comedy, and mori king going for the light hearted side of comedy. (Note I dropped yozakura early on so I don’t know if it had changed but by the looks of it is a light hearted/ action oriented comedy). Also while I don’t fully consider undead unluck a comedy it does have a lot of black and ecchi humor in it. All in all while I am not a gag manga fan I still actually enjoy most of the gag series on jump. None of them except mashle are really my favorites but I feel they have a perfect place on jump,

Tip - Try pressing the enter key after a few sentences(aka paragraphs). Might help in making the task of reading your posts a lot easier.

WSJ's circulation won't go down more than it would have because of KNY's end.

There unfortunately isn't a perfect time for HxH to return. Any return date is perfect tbh.
HxH's readers are probably largely adults by now. So I doubt they would still be buying the magazine. And even if they were, I doubt HxH would somehow stabilize the magazine. It'll still keep declining in circulation every year as it always has.

The magazine was fine with Naruto, Bleach, Kochikame, Gintama etc all ending.
