With what stance is that? There's nothing in his words to imply that, in stead he's just doubling down.

If you're talking about the Tokyo Ghoul comment, that's a fake account.

Same reason many leakers also make up stuff and post unconfirmed rumours, so people pay attention to them more. It's the same reason some manga ToC leakers put a watermark on the images.

Spoiler: why you shouldn't blindly trust leakers

If you play fighting games you see it constantly, someone will have a legitimate source of some kind but can't resist posting a bunch of extra rumours and speculation as leaks because it keeps them in everyone's minds. If a leaker only posts definitely confirmed stuff (especially when they've got just one real source), people wouldn't keep up with them every day to check for new info.

The Paul Gale controversy ('leaker' from the Playstation all stars discussion) is a really good example. He posted some genuine leaked information early on so people trusted him, then he kept posting vague or obvious leaks so that people kept paying attention to him, until the game came out and some of his 'leaks' were proven false (which hurt the game's hype, since people believed Cloud and such would be in the game because of him).

Eventually, Sony investigated and found out his source is someone who play-tested an early build that had a couple unannounced characters in it. So he had a real source of information but his source didn't know everything about the game like the leaker pretended, he only knew info on a couple characters and made up the rest of his 'information' for attention and fun.

That's why you shouldn't blindly trust a leaker, even if they have some real information, it doesn't mean they have all the information. The source could just be one guy why played a demo early, or gets the magazine really early, etc. Wait for proof.

Fair points, but this isn't about Yonkou's info being incorrect in the long term, it's about Yonkou himself supposedly lying.

What motive would the smash bros (mentioning this game to make a point) leakers have to lie. They just want attention that’s all.

Those leakers didn't have public identities.

They did drop. The anime actually was on the verge of cancellation around Ennis Lobby as a result.

Filer is also borderline impossible for OP because of how arc post Thriller Bark are structured.

I don't know what are the ratings of OP were at that time, but it is pretty unlikely the anime will be cancelled only if the ratings drop.

In the case of Toei anime, it is usually the merchandise sales that decides that an anime continues or not.

I hope this anime becomes a hit in the west. I absolutely love the dragon quest franchise and I feel the games are extremely underrated overseas even with the smash bros dlc. I’ve read some of the manga and I like it a lot. Some parts do not age well in my opinion but if they kind of update A LITTLE bit of the manga kind of like hunter x hunter/ JJBA then it can reach the same popularity those 2 had.

Chances are incredibly low, but I'm hoping that the Dragon Quest anime does well enough for Viz to bring back the creators' current series.

Viz translated all of Beet the Vandel Buster under the Shonen Jump imprint before it went on hiatus. The manga returned in Japan a few years ago to finally finish the interrupted arc and has now started a new one, but the old volumes aren't even on Viz's Vault. It's only a quarterly manga now but I'd still love to keep up with it legally.

It's akin to believing a flipped quarter will always land on heads. It's fine to say there's only a 50% chance.

50% is a decently high chance, but it's not guaranteed. Similar to Yonkou.

It's worth noting that, even though Yonkou is rarely "wrong", his info can be distorted somewhat.

Burn the Witch for example he incorrectly claimed would be an OVA and not a film, but he did ultimately correctly state that it was being animated, which I doubt anyone would have reason to lie about.

They've done a few. Most of them are fairly old (Lovely Complex for example) with the most recent being Kado the Right Answer in 2017.

There's one being broadcast this season, "Mirai no Mukashi Banashi" and they producing Butt Detective in seasons of 13 episodes, long running is a given but the manga is 349 chapters which means at least over 100 episodes.

We wishfully think for the best case scenario, Toei will always play things safe with long running adaptions with the same filler and pacing issues for any anime they adapt instead of going by cour seasons.

As much as I liked it, even the Kinnikuman anime went overboard with all the forced "omake" with the Kinkotsuman trio. At least the One Piece filler scenes (not counting filler arcs) add to the story. The same old "hahaha look at Kinkotsuman, Goubari, and Iwao being a funny trio while Kinnikuman struggle in a dangerous fight" scenes don't.
