Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

For me Yozakura keeping the good position and having a color page next issue for the volume 3, but is Nakano, better not expect much.

I think you should be more questioning if the series is being cancelled or no, because it really looks like it could go either way right now.

This is more suited for Mitama tbh, Yozakura isn't showing any real signs of being canceled

They're both showing signs of possibly approaching the end.

Plus Yozakura has generally had worse placements than Mitama so far (it's good last issue, but spends a lot of time in the bottom 3 which Mitama doesn't), and they've cancelled higher sellers in favour of a low selling gag manga that are higher up on the ToC in the past.

I wouldn't be surprised if they both get cancelled about the same time unless this latest issue's high ToC placement for Yozakura keeps happening.

Yozakura just started another more serious development like others before, when a newbie is supposed to be cancelled you don't see it climbing close to the top 5, Yozakura also sells 3x times what Mitama do and the overall positions aren't "axe" worthy too, so technically there's no reason for the manga being canceled now unless Shonen Jump wants to release another 4/5 new series at once.

How many more new manga will be serialized this year? I know Burn the Witch is coming, but after that I mean.

Guardian will probably be axed soon, and Neverland will probably end. So would they cancel Yozakura and Mitama if there's enough placements in the magazine still?

Even if the jump starts 4/5 manga. Yozakura Family would not be canceled yet.
There is the empty space left by kimetsu and TPN, and cancellations by GoTW and Mitama.

as far as I'm aware Sunday is the only magazine to give their entire serialization list at the start of the year so I don't think we can answer that. I think someone posted just before the current newest round we were approaching the highest amount of new series Jump has ever started in a single year though.

Starting a new arc hasnt really saved any other cancelled series, those aren't really any signs of being safe. Plus, Yozakura's new arc could set up already an endgame for all its worth.
Nevertheless, we wont really know until the TOC shows up as well as spoilers for the next chapter, right now its fair game

If you go by the overall number of series per fiscal year, 11/12, Jump released 8 until now, so more 4/5 series and we still only in the half of the year, so unless SJ really want to flood the magazine with new series at once

The point is that starting a new serious development isn't a sign of ending since is something typical from the manga, mixing comedy and serious developments, different than Mitama that is a typical gag.

Oh that's pretty interesting to hear that Sunday does that.

Also the TOC comes today right? (I hope Agravity goes up)

I remember we've actually had series suddenly jump up to the top half only a chapter or two before ending. It's rare but it does happen (plus Yozakura's also not growing in sales which is an important thing for new jump manga that aren't in a unique niche).

In the past 25 years, I think WSJ has always had 10-14 series per year. We've had 8 so far this year so, unless Jump does the most new series in one year since I think 1994, we're probably getting 6 more new series at most. 5 after Burn the Witch.

And since Burn the Witch is a miniseries, it'll probably also end this year and be replaced by something else (meaning for 6 new manga, we'll only need 5 current series to end). Plus we know Neverland is ending so that's 4 others. If Yuuna ends too, that'd mean only 3 newer series would need to be cancelled (unless they just leave a spot open for ages like last year).

I was wondering if they'd do real versions of the stage plays, that's nice news (and makes sense why there's no cover page).

I'll be in Japan by then so I might go check it out.
