At least they didn't get it as bad as Neji did. That's really the thing that bothers me the most looking back. To a have a whole character arc about like "Deciding your own fate" and his feelings about no matter what he does he'll die for the main Hyuuga family. Only to have him fucking die for the main family. That is just foul.

And nobody give me that whole "But he chose to die for Hinata". That's completely irrelevant to the fact that during the Chunnin arc he was 1000% right. To have the only real major death in the war arc be to perform a character arc atrocity like that...

If I had to pick one thing I'm saltiest about. It's that. Even beyond the Kaguya stuff.

Kakashi was there from day 1 and was captain of the "What a loser" club as he gave Sasuke pretty absurd preferential treatment as a teacher.

Part of the reason Kakashi has and will always be my least favorite character in the series. The blatant bias shown towards Sasuke was so annoying. Like okay, Sasuke has to fight Gaara (Which is a rather poor excuse, considering Gaara obviously wouldn;t be allowed to kill him since the Jounin sensei were shown capable of stepping in to stop the fights), but why give Naruto a teacher who is CLEARLY weaker than him?
That whole scene with Ebisu is something I will never wrap my head around. Kakashi only started training Naruto after Sasuke left the village, which is pathetic

That's why he was angry at her because no matter how skilled he was he would always just be a sacrifice for her in the end, like his father ended up being. The cursed seal made him essentially a slave. Naruto was supposed to have shown him that "Fate is what you make it". Yet Naruto was wrong because that's exactly what happened to him. He was proved correct in his fatalism. The fact that Kishi framed it as like "I choose to embrace this fate." doesn't help or change that he died as a sacrifice for the specific person he thought he would be a sacrifice for. The same exact person his father was a sacrifice for.

It's honestly like Kishi just forgot Neji's entire story and character arc and used him in a way that is the complete antithesis of it. You can kill Neji. Absolutely. But you can't kill him as a meat shield for Hinata.

I always thought it would make more sense for Neji to have accompanied Naruto to the Land of Iron and mention the Hyuuga incident to the Raikage. Instead of Yamato, who is like the most random character to bring up such a dark event
Would have been such a powerful character moment for Neji. Kinda like how Nami showed Jinbe her tattoo on Fishman Island.

Yeah, Sasuke's character arc is just a shitshow. He was a big recipient of that Itachi retcon ravaging. When he was just an insecure guy who became obsessed with strength as he hid from his personal demons that was a legit character.

But post-Itachi retcon, when the cycle of hatred stuff really started to ramp up, his character just falls apart. Because we had already seen that he was admired and treated so well. He was solitary by his own personal choice where Naruto was solitary because he was ostracized. And then it just continually snowballed as Kishi tried to find ways to deflect responsibly for actions away from Itachi and later himself.

If he had the same backstory as Naruto where he was hated and ostrsized but for being a Uchiha, which in the later retconned historical context he should have been, then it would be at least semi-functional.

It's sort of a different flavor of the later problem with Naruto's backstory after that was retconned in. Because him being hating and ostrizised doesn't make sense at all with his parents being these universally loved and admired people.

Kakashi really gets burned in that retcon.

Sasuke really fell off as a character once Tobi revealed the truth to him. He went from wanting revenge against Itachi to being a baby and trying to seek revenge against an innocent village, and it made no sense. Sasuke is much smarter than this, as shown when he refused to kill innocent people, but somehow, he thought it was okay to waste his brother's sacrifice and destroy a village? Shit makes no sense to me. Kishi really killed his character....

The odd part is that despite having Shisui's eye, Itachi never tried to convince Danzou or the leader of the Uchiha rebellion to reconsider the coup d'etat. The elders and Hiruzen also made things worse when they refused to trust the Uchiha, who were already slighted by Tobirama's prejudice. I feel Itachi could have done way more to prevent the order, but then again it does look like Danzou wanted the massacre to happen at all cost.

Not to mention, it was easy enough for the villagers and even outsiders to figure out Minato was Naruto's dad as the only Uzumaki was married to Minato. Trying to hide Naruto's parentage made no sense.

I think Kakashi is guilty, but he had a responsibility to the village as well. Jiraiya was doing intel gathering, so he had an excuse. Hiruzen though had the power to ensure someone would be there to take care of Naruto and to watch out for him, and he could have adopted Naruto as well or taken him into his home. Prior to Team 7, I think Hiruzen messed up but after the formation of the team, Kakashi bears some responsibility as he could have focused on Naruto more.

He taught Sasuke moves like chidori with the intent that he'd use it to protect his friends and because he figured Sasuke would need a move like chidori to beat Gaara (not necessarily avoid being killed). Kakashi does explain part of the reason why he focused on Sasuke was because of their similarity and his desire to have Sasuke stop going after revenge and focus more on the ones that love him, like Naruto and Sakura. Before the Sound ninjas beat up Sasuke, Kakashi got this through Sasuke again. I think Sasuke's superiority complex and looking down on Naruto was what did the most damage, though.

I figure it was segue into introducing Jiraiya, or Kakashi likely anticipated Jiraiya appearing to teach Naruto? Plus Ebisu is Konohamaru's teacher, appointed by the hokage himself.

Naah man, as i was stating, with leader being chosen, her destiny was branch (like hiashi's was since birth) and get branded the day officially hanabi takes over & marry in hyuuga family and when hanabi's child, the next heir turns 3, hinata's children too being branded.

Sure,I have no qualms with ur not liking he died for hinata by CHOICE, which kishi added. My only point was hinata has not been part of mains the day hanabi was decided the head. + His father died for the head of the family/hyuuga and neji did not die for the head of the family, but the one who no longer was head.

Other than tht, the point of fatalist is true, the only thing i can add here is he thought he was fatalist for the position like his father, which changed slightly by becoming fatalist for the person. Never said it made it better.

I can just tell that during either this one or the Bleach one, friendships are going to be lost.

Don't really think tht would be the case, else most of people here who were there at time of naruto would still be going at each others throats. These times are the best.

I don't think he expected Jiraiya to show up. Which is why when Naruto used the Rasengan against Sasuke Kakashi was shocked he has such a move.
That revenge reasoning makes sense, but Kakashi was the only Konoha jounin who had two students make it to the finals. It was honestly unfair to just train one of them instead of both. Heck, you can even train them BOTH side by side and have them learn new moves (Kakashi did show Naruto Rasengan in Shippudeen, meaning he could have taught Naruto Rasengan at the same time as Sasuke using Chidori)
Ebisu is pathetic, this guy lost to Naruto 3 chapters into the story
