Probably why she lost all the time - ninja tools are barely effective, at the best of times

I'd love the idea of a character who used tools effectively
Issue is, when tools do appear to be effective in Naruto, you can be 99.9% sure that those panels will be shown to be a genjutsu illusion in the following chapter (it was one of the many ways that I could tell that the first half of the Sasuke/Itachi fight was not real)

Dunno if that alone explains why she was so weak even in the very early stages.

Shino is actually the only character in Naruto who has never lost a fight. Between the old and new series. Which is pretty insane if you think about it.

But rly based on concept, cause I recall playing A LOT of online forum-based Naruto RPGs (along with Nintendo games, that's actually how I got to hang around online communities)

Really? That's pretty awesome, I played a LOT of Naruto games as well, I think it is the only anime-related game I have ever played, haha.

I'd love the idea of a character who used tools effectively

They introduced the Sacred Tools of the Sage of the Six Paths in the war arc. I thought that TenTen was going to be the one to inherit all 5 of those weapons, but now it seems like Kishimoto was trying to build up hype for the Sage himself before his appearance in the manga.

Had both Shino and Kiba on my list at first but as we covered earlier in the thread, they were just so under-utilized.. Also had TenTen on there briefly but she's even more so.

And damnnnn, knew I should've placed Shikaku on my list. Deserves to be higher.

I only remember Shino defeating Kankuro.

He was pretty useful in the Chunin exams - instrumental in obtaining the scroll and in utterly destroying Zaku in his match (blocking his blow holes was an epic way to neutralize Zaku's power).

And yeah, he did track down and beat Kankuro... however, he was then taken out by Kankuro's poison gas, so it's perhaps more of a draw than an outright victory

He pulled some 5D chess strats in his fights for sure, and even pre-battle with putting a bug on Kankuro.

The biggest mistake in the war arc isn't even the Madara stuff, it's that stupid Edo Tensei spell.
Brought back characters like Haku and Zabuza who ALREADY had their character arcs completed, so what was the fucking point in restoring them as enemies
So annoying when you think about it.

Resurrecting the dead ruined character arcs and the memories we had of them. It was so unnecessary imo. At best they should've kept it with just the 5 kages, as those were characters we largely didn't see much of.

Most of those Edo Tensei were just really, REALLY pointless. Like they even brought back Gaara's dad. Only to retcon Gaara's backstory
