Idk what happened to him later, but he was very cool in the beginning. His fight vs Tsunade had me amazed by his performance, fighting someone he shouldn‘t be able to handle. At the time he was stronger than both Naruto and Sasuke for sure.

Them being apprentices to the main? evil is comparable enough, but yes as characters they‘re very different.

Kabuto had interesting jutsu and even a decent motivation but he was just to uncool. Conjuring people in his belly was... lame and his got handed the biggest L despite his skillset being tailormade to beat the detestable Uchiha duo.

But Kabuto had no interest in being his successor iirc. He just took his DNA or something.

Broad strokes, I guess. I will say that Kabuto of course had a much longer arc and bacteria boy's arc is probably only half finished at this point. If he ends up inheriting All for One's power, the comparison could become more apt

I keep telling Hardy he should totally watch Naruto 'cause the hype when I was in uni was so big! Went to movie theaters to watch it even XD
But I wonder if the whole part 1 is worth it, heard many times it goes downhill after the chuunin shiken. Unless part 1 ends right after that, thought there was the whole Orochimaru outcome around it...

Hiruzen vs Orochimaru was actually a good fight and wasn't ruined by Edo tensei.

The tease on Yondaime was well done as well.

Even to this day, I still maintain that "Tobi" should have been Izuna - not only to continue the whole brothers theme, but actually explain why he even showed any interest in Sasuke in the first place, and you know, why he hated the other Uchihas...

I also find it hilarious that the one time Sakura got to show her smarts in Part 2 by figuring out his ability, Kishi recon it just to recon it again later on.
