Had Kishimoto wanted to make the Uchiha appear segregated/suppressed at the start of his manga (not just pretending that they always had been, later on), he could've easily done this during the first half of his manga

He could've:

Had people visibly trying to avoid Sasuke
Had anti-Uchiha graffiti on the walls/in the backgrounds of scenes
Had citizens saying snide remarks during Sasuke's fights
Had Sasuke/the Uchiha not been allowed to go to the same Ninja accademy as children from the other clans

There are numerous ways he could've done this, both obviously and subtly (for example: he could've had a single scene of children's parents dragging them away from Sasuke, like they did for Naruto), and he did none of them

Hell, if he'd wanted to get ideas for 'segregation', he need only open a [real world] history book. There are plenty of examples to find inspiration from

You can segregate their living place by making them live far away from others. What did the police force do? As far as I recall, Tobi or someone said that it was just a title given to the Uchiha to quell their displeasure at being forced to relocate to a different part of the village.

So basically, they weren't as violent as Tobirama thought they were, and he should have fucked off.

Yes, but if you are going to try and accuse people of going out of their way to 'justify' what Tobirama did (or justify liking his character), there needs to be far more concrete evidence of him actually doing bad things in the manga

If we are to say that the Uchiha coup was somehow justifiable then, to me, there needs to be a whole lot more than 'he told us to live in this part of town and gave us an incredibly important and powerful role in the operation of the village'

My arguments are with how cack-handedly it was done - makes it really hard to buy any of the bullshit that is tied to it
Itachi being a 'hero' - or his actions being, in any way, justifiable
Tobirama being a villain
Madara/Obito being somehow less evil cunts than they were shown to be
etc.

I don't know if I agree with this solution to the problem and moral of the story. Especially considering implications with real world inspirations to this dilemma. Personally I felt always the Uchiha story line had a lot of parallels to the European jews, who were alientated in society for religion and were not allowed access to any kind of craftsman ship. Then had to specialze in that one thing there were allowed to do which was lending money and were successful at that, being again alientated for achieved wealth and status from it. So yeah, the author here proposes it was all justified because they are evil to the core and had planned world domination to begin with. I think that's very problematic and a shortcut to this being on the good side of history so the reader doesn't have to question the own morality. Meh.

I thought Sasori was a great introduction to Akatsuki, enjoyed the dynamic between him and Deidara, liked the backstory somewhat and how he was tied into Suna legends and so on. Only let down for me was that underneath the interestingly designed Hiruko puppet was just an other bishie :darn

Had Deidara not got an explosive amount of development during his fight with Sasuke, Sasori would still be my favorite Akatsuki member.

Puppetry Jutsu is still my favorite style.

I'm also indifferent to Hashirama. I hate naive, do gooder characters to be honest. It can be fine in certain instances, but often times, they are rewarded for it. Hashirama is one of those types. Sage Mode looked cool though. You know who it would've also looked cool on? Tsunade.

About Lee:
One of many great side characters who got jobbed hard in P2.

I remember Lee's encounter with Sasuke very well. As a huge Sasuke-fanboy back then, the thought of anyone beating Sasuke - especially with his newly awakened shiny Sharingans - was blasphemous. But instead of disliking this 'fuzzy eyebrows' guy, I instantly came to love him for his badass taijutsu. There is seriously not much else to say here, since his P1 appearances speak for himself. His fight against Gaara became a classic. And even though he was inferior to Kimimaro, he put up an awesome and partly funny performance. It is too bad that we could never see him duke it out with Neji.

About Sasuke:
Sasuke was my favorite character when I started with Naruto. Cool design, genius, with a mysterious, fucked up and sad background, a flashy fighter and so on. Kishimoto gave him many awesome fights and he is still among the characters I consider to have one of the most eye-candyish fighting styles ever. His whole pursuit for revenge didn't feel off, and Kishimoto made a nice connection/circle with Akatsuki targeting Naruto while Sasuke's target - Itachi - is part of this very organization. The future looked quite promising in my eyes considering the fact that Sasuke also started to warm up to others. Overall, Sasuke was a great character in P1 I think, even though I could never understand the fact that he went to Orochimaru, who at that point was one of the most feared and powerful villains in the story. Always thought that this decision of Sasuke - considering his level and awareness of what Orochimaru was up to - was very stupid, regardless of what he went through until then. But what's done is done, eh? In the end it worked.

In P2, he was mostly a miss and in rare cases a hit for me. After the truth about Itachi, I actually liked his decision to only go for the village leaders. That was something I could comprehend (and wanted to see), even though it went completely against Itachi's will. But that was never the case, Sasuke ultimately went batshit crazy and tried to murder any and everything on his pathway, literally spitting on his brother's grave (not 100% undeserved for how much Itachi fucked him over though, lol). Everything else is known…

Call me a lunatic, but after those 700 chapters, I believe Sasuke would have worked way better as a protagonist with Naruto, and maybe as a short/mid-term antagonist than whatever the hell Kishimoto did to him in P2.

At least Sasuke is sorry, so we are all good now.
