Damn that drop for Black Clover on Honto, it's starting to fall under the KNY wall?
is it truly sensible to say that about a videogame spinoff manga

It's in the middle of it, which is unexpected honestly since reprints went out more than a week ago and the next ones only arrive in 10 days.

You realize this is about the original manga, not Quartet Knights, right? It was #9 yesterday and dropped to #24 today.

I liked Magu-chan a lot more than I have been. Still not sure why so many people like chapter 1 so much but I'm glad my theory about enjoying it more when it's shorter turned out accurate.

I've never liked a comedy series' first chapter. It's usually the second chapter or later where I start laughing a lot and the series grows on me. It happened with David-kun, Mitama, Mashle...I'm not sure why, but the first chapter of gag series are usually quite weak for me
I completely agree with this I think the problem is most gag/comedy manga try too hard with the jokes in the beginning.

Guess I'm the only one who really loved Roboco. But all 4 of the new series are really fun imo, with Hardboiled Cop as my favorite, mostly because I still have no idea what it really is about, but I'm really looking forward to finding it out, especially after this chapter. Oh, and Tamura's art has improved a lot, I was not expecting such a high effort work from him.

And I must say that I've been reading as much of Jump as I could for years, but this is the first time I genuinly enjoy reading every newbie (less than a year of serialization) and not just forced by a completionist compulsiveness. Although while I'm amused by all, I can only see Undead and Moriking becoming something special in the long run (new batch is too early to judge and despite Mashle always being fun I still dont think it has legs as a long running shonen). Either way it's a really exciting time to be a WSJ reader.

Mashle is getting better and better recently. I'm also very impressed by the author's art improvement.

I think Roboko will be something like isobee or jaguar, such that they'll be placed at the back of the magazine for as long as they run

Mashle artist draws some really cute boys. Todays was fantastic.

More than that, many of the artists action poses are amazing too. Really looking forward to more things like we saw in the previous two chapters in the future.

Writing and dialogue feel just one or two notches beneath where they should be, but I do believe this can improve as they get more comfortable with the characters and story.

I enjoy Me and Roboco way more than I expected, is that series directed to kids with a lot of sexual and weird jokes that anyone will get but not matter anyway. Never read one of those so this could be my first.
Cop and Dolphin isn't really my thing, just confirmed with this chapter.
Really really like Magu-chan, I am reading Jump since like 14/15 and really didn't expected to see a slice of life like this in Jump and I am glad it changed.
Ayakashi is really taking his time to do thing, like to much time. Pretty sure it have it freedom being Yabuki but can't say how much it will get.
Ghostwriter is like a good story but presented with shitty characters, 90% of the time the manga is focused in Teppei and 90% of Teppei time is freaking out. Is like that joke videos where they exaggerate something normal about a character in a series.
Agravity Boys look like is ending, hope is just another joke and it can keep going.
Bone Collection is some random and quick jumping from one thing to another, I enjoy it pretty much
ChainsawMan is some random and quick jumping from one thing to another, I don't enjoy it much
UxU and Act-Age are good as always
Can't connect with this arc in My Hero, is just like I expected this to be like the final arc but it will not be so knowing that this will not end thing not matter waht happend just don't exited me.
One Piece, it was the chapter 984
And I love Black Clover, not just this chapter but in general, it is a love letter to the fight shonen manga from 80' to now... and in the back of the letter there jokes about them and some parodies too.
8kaijuu: First, how is this pronounced?? second, really cool artwork and design, lot of posibility with the characters being grown up and doing it like a job. Not more than that really, lots of possibilities for sure but basic presentation chapter.
And funny how we are getting more thing and variety in Spanish that English, see how thing go when you don't depend of Viz.

My chapter placements for this week
1. Chainsaw Man - Everything about this chapter is why I love what Fujimoto does. It's so unique in its presentation. He's not following a single rule book for a battle manga.
2. Mashle - I don't know what it is about this series. But I constantly laugh and I'm constantly enjoying the action. The Mangaka did such a good job in making Mash and his friends so likeable that it's just a blast going through every chapter
3. Magu-chan - Easily my favorite series of this batch. I'm so badly hoping this survives. It's such a heartwarming, feel good series.
4. MHA - It's just been hype, this arc. But that said, because of the bigger panels, the chapters feel a lot shorter. So it's become a quick read.
5. Time Paradox - It's introducing a rival scenario now but the reason for this set up is intriguing.
6. Roboco and HardBoiled Cop - Roboco wasn't bad by any means. The humor was decent and some of it was actually super funny. I like snappy inner monologues. That said, I don't know if it has what it needs to survive. Especially when Mashle, Magu-chan does the comedy aspect of their manga better.
Same with Hard Boiled Cop. This chapter was better than the first one and it was slowly setting up the story. But it's still missing something. I can't put my head around what that is but it definitely does not pull me in. The little girl's interaction with the cop is arguably the most hilarious bits. But I don't know if this will survive. I want to give Tamura a chance to flesh out his setting, so that the jokes hit harder but I don't think WSJ will give him that time.

Currently catching up on Jujutsu, then I'll catch up on Act Age and I also wanna start Mori King because it's doing well. Wanna know what that's about and if it's something I'd like.

For the new series, I enjoy Magu the most. It's really funny and cute and I also like the art style. Really hoping this one stays and doesn't get cancelled.

I didn't like Ayakashi's first chapter, but the second and third are good. This week's was just okay. Would prefer if it was more slice of life with the other two girls instead of monster/enemy of the week.

Cop is decent, but maybe it's because I don't get the jokes that it comes off as confusing and unfunny. It has potential to be a decent mystery though.

Roboko is alright. Wasn't as bad as I thought based on the preview. Didn't love it, but it was enjoyable.

For the others, I enjoyed Undead, Chainsaw, and Ghostwriter. Wasn't a fan of the HeroAca or Jujutsu this week. Mashle was decent, but the fight was meh.

2020 series ranking for me:
Tier 1: Magu, Undead
Tier 2: Mashle, Ghostwriter, Ayakashi
Tier 3: Rest of the stuff I read that I didn't drop

Something I'm really excited to see is what the faces of the magazine will be when One Piece ends. The last remaining pillar besides One Piece itself and Haikyuu, which is apparently ending very soon, is My Hero Academia, and I don't see it still running in 5 years when One Piece is supposedly going to end. I actually don't see anything currently running being around in 5 years.

We get a lot of big series come and go that get a lot of recognition, like Yu-Gi-Oh, Toriko, Eyeshield 21, Reborn, etc. but I'm curious what the next big face of the magazine will be. The one that has a cover once every six weeks and gets put at the very front of group covers like One Piece.

Honestly don’t even think One Piece will end in 5 years. Oda’s very good at estimating. And with the combination of,
1. Most major arcs lasting excessively long lately
2. Oda taking constant breaks, and the pandemic adding to that

I honestly can’t see the series ending in 5 years. I almost expect the final arc/island in itself will be like anywhere between 1-3ish years long.

I can't argue with that. I'm not particularly trying to push the series out myself. I acknowledge a lot of the complaints people have with the series, but the series at its lowest has never been below like a 7 for me.

That being said, 5 years IS just Oda's estimate, and I'm sure he'll think of something else along the way. Like they go to this even bigger ocean on the other side of the world that has 8 more warlords we've never heard of with 10 billion berries and up bounties or something.

Or he does that space arc Toriko didn't get to.

if oda just starts knocking out the long standing mysteries it could end in a good 120 final chapter arc and wano can finish in like 35 or so chapters

I give One Piece 10 more years. Then White Knight will take its place.

But honestly, I have no idea what other series could be the future face of Jump. Probably one that will start in a few years so it doesn't make much sense to think about it right now.

August Amazon ranks (thanks to Kimi for the info):
Mashle 2 #19343
Yozakura 4 #32663
Moriking 1 #39224
Time Paradox Ghost Writer 1 #72905
Guardian of the Witch 2 #99067
Bone Collection 1 #102581
Mitama 4 #105066

-Yozakura is doing fine and I'm happy for it. I hope it gets the anniversary cover.
-Moriking is also doing fine, and way better than TPGW
-How in Earth hasn't Mitama still been axed?

Speaking of Amazon, apparently they don't deliver to the United States anymore? I would blame COVID, but I literally bought some Pokemon cards and a volume of manga from there 2 or 3 days ago. Been buying the volumes of newbies I like for a couple of years to help them survive, but not going to be doing that anymore, apparently. At least not through Amazon.

Edit: I messed around a bit and found that things that are already released can be delivered, as well as pre-order items releasing in July. The problem with Mitama and Yozakura volumes must be how far out the pre-orders are. I've never had that problem before now, but there it is.

My Hero Academia could have a sudden break in #32. On Mangaplus the next chapter is slated for 19 July (such as One Piece), instead of 12 July.

These are the ones from yesterday if someone wants to get some conclusions, even though I wouldn't. I'd only say the only for sure thing seems to be Mashle's consistency in high ranks. Wonder if stocks will have issues or not.

It seems My Hero Academia will be having a break next Jump issue according to Mangaplus. This was not a scheduled break so it's not sure at all if MHA is going to be or not in next issue.
