Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

What is with that CSM backlog? Did the anime release while I was sleeping last night or something?
Backlog works in a magical way.
Like when Dr. Stone backlog got a boost not because of anime but random recommendation from a famous talk show.
Or how Act-Age backlog got boost every times a new volume is out. Just look at the Oricon with Act-Age in it but not BC despite BC newest volumes sold better.

CSM has trended a couple times on twitter during these previous recent chapters.
I dont know if it was due to the content of the manga, or if due to some external event we aren't aware of, might be related to the backlog boost.

I wonder if CSM got mentioned somewhere that we don't know about. I would understand if the backlogs were in 100s or 200s positions because word of mouth gets around slowly but constantly and therefore you don't see a huge jump.
But right now most of these are in top 75, which is pretty big meaning it got promoted or mentioned somewhere with a large audience. So I'm very intrigued to know the reason behind it.

Were there any claims of plagiarism for the series...Seems strange.

Jujutsu must be having something going on to give it such good numbers a season before it anime. Cant imagine it was a pv that suddenly made people rush to buy volume 1 and so on (too soon for it to be due to todays 2nd pv)

It's a good manga coming from an anime announcement with a hyped up anime teaser and it probably has some good word of mouth. It also helps that it has sold well from volume 1.

Tomorrow's TOC is sure gonna be interesting. I wonder if it will go on break this early (chapter 5 for a new series seems unprecedented) or if it will get the early chop...
Getting the axe this early is extremely abnormal, if serialization stops there must be some serious reason for it.

Oh definitely. Either this is all one odd miscommunication or there must be some external circumstances that would cause it to go on break/end. Would be a shame to see anything bad happen since it has the most promise of the recent batch.

Maybe this :/

Tatsuki Fujimoto (Chainsaw Man) recommends BokuYaba. The interview reveals that Norio Sakurai is reading Chainsaw Man, and this was a response.

Huh. Presumably the next issue will have some sort of announcement about what's going on. I wonder if the mangaka caught covid? That's the best explanation that leaps to mind for the update schedule to suddenly be uncertain.

Oh, I was gonna mention that Norio Sakurai of Mitsudomoe and BokuYaba fame recommended Chainsaw Man, but I didn’t because I thought Chainsaw Man would be the bigger series (if only slightly) so a recommendation from the BokuYaba author (I thought) wouldn't have done much. Lemme check something real quick...
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Here's the full interview.
It was released just yesterday, on the 14th, which is when Chainsaw Man showed strong backlog sales for the day.

If you want to skip to the relevant question:

──今ハマっている、新しめのマンガはありますか?
桜井:最近は新しいマンガがなかなか読めていないので難しいですね……ん~『チェンソーマン』が好きです。自分が描いてる作品とは違うジャンルの方が、何も考えずに読めるんです。同じジャンルのマンガは読むのが怖いんですよね(笑)。

(Also, read BokuYaba, it's real good.)

But if it's something really serious, then the official account would have notified us about it beforehand. I don't think it got axed or the author got seriously ill.

Maybe it's just mangaplus incompetence or technical issues. Either way let's see if Magu chan is in the toc this issue.

I doubt it's either. Manga Plus hasn't had a history of random issues like this and have had unannounced breaks reflected before leaks happen (this past week with MHA for example) so I don't see why we would assume their incompetence. If it was technical issues it would probably be fixed by now (as we know they're aware due to the support convo posted a few pages back).
Personally I think it's the same reason pretty much any unannounced break happens, author was sick and couldn't get the chapter done in time. The only reason people are making a big deal now is because it only started about a month ago and isn't a MHA, Haikyu, Black Clover, etc.

but if it was technical problems, then why was only Magu chan affected?
And I haven't seen any positioning by mangaplus yet.

This weird thing happening with Magu-chan is making me assume maybe it's a health related issue.
As long as the mangaka is fine (health-wise) and his/her family is ok, I'm fine with an unscheduled break.

I HIGHLY doubt they cancelled it. Unless it was always meant to be a 4 chapter mini-series.
