Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Sure but thanks to that belief her new series ranked #1 for 30 straight weeks. The author is definitely implying something.
I feel as though we are missing the bigger context here.
Aino's ideal manga is a "transparent masterpiece" that everyone would love, even if that means removing herself from the art. While that succeeded, she lost sight of her passion, and collapsed from overwork.
This all goes against what the editor said in an earlier chapter: You should draw the thing only you can draw.
I think the main message the author is trying to convey here is just that: Manga, and art in general, should be about expressing your own unique perspective, even if that means not everyone will love it.

Do Japanese Readers even use Amazon that often to preorder new Manga volumes? Feels like there might be other sites which they rather and more frequent use than this one. I honestly don't see much point discussions preorder ranks of Amazon on considering what kinda ranks we are talking about. All we get from this is a general tell of Mashle good, rest average, BoneC bad, and we can pretty much get this already from the normal rankings, CP and sales and ofc our own rankings.

Not our own ranking. That does not serve to measure the popularity of a manga in Japan.

I agree with everything else you said.

I meant it more as in "general taste", you tend to see BoneC at the bottom in our poll as well and Mashle higher up there as we did with the Amazon ranking. That is all that is to it.

They use Rakuten more than Amazon. There's also Tsutaya, Honto, Animate just to name a few.

Rakuten is nice because they have daily and weekly rankings that go up to 10000 places, while Honto only goes up to 100, Tsutaya goes up to 20 and Animate doesn't have one.

Preorder numbers are pretty pointless right now especially when we are ~10-14 days away from the approximate release dates.
That's like looking at music album pre-orders weeks in advance. It'll be very different for when it's actually the week of release or the few days leading upto it.

I never actually thought about that. I like your take on the whole Ghostwriter controversy

As for the New MHA light novel, I’m pretty interested to see what it’s about. I know there was a little synopsis about it, but I still don’t really understand what it’s going to add. Either way, I’m excited!

I just caught up on the chapters for this week and;

1. Hard Boiled Cop and Dolphin - This chapter was HILARIOUS. It was peak Tamura. Everything I love about his mix and timing for comedy and story. The first 3 chapters were mostly a miss (especially the first chapter) with chapter 3 being best from those three. But this one was THE chapter I wanted from him. I'm finally invested in these characters with this chapter.
2. Chainsaw Man - Fujimoto needs to stop playing with my feelings.
3. Mashle - Solid battle chapter again. I can see Lance end up being the most popular character in this series, even over Mash.
4. Jujutsu - Sukuna is so OP.
5. Magu-chan - Still a series I adore. It's charming, funny and a light read. I WANT this to survive but lets see.
6. MHA - It's nice that Horikoshi is giving other students a chance to shine now. Although I can see people getting annoyed by the focus shifting.
7. Time Paradox Ghost Writer - The artist is exceptional. I'm intrigued by what the chapter showed. That said, there is something off with the series' time skips and general story flow.

Also, I read 7 series now in WSJ. So I can technically take part in the polls now (if I remember to do it)

I noticed that just now. Not sure that it's a good move since J+ talk was allowed here, and the thread activity is low as expected. The service isn't really that popular around here beyond just few series on it's own to warrant a separate thread.

Tbh it does feel a bit early to have a Jump+ thread even if its growing a lot as a platform. I would imagine the thread would get more activity once SxF & Jigo's animes are out and more people check out the other titles that Jump+ has to offer. Speaking of their animes, I hope both get announced this year.

This is that manga with canon homo? Maybe not anime adaptation but live action adaptation cuz so far as I know there is/was recently popular BL drama in Japan. I think was called Ossan Love.
